Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Fishing is still awesome out of Sandy. You just got to be lucky enough to hook the big one. Each day we lost count of how many fish we caught. Everything is working. Saturday we had a great spoon bite. Friday spoons and spin doctors. Still can't get a King big enough to get back on the board. We had a few Kings 20-23 but that's not big enough. At least my wife's 16 lb Steelhead is still up there. This fishery just gets better and better. I always fish with just my wife and we always run 2 downriggers and 2 dipsy divers and the last 2 days I had problems keeping 2 lines in the water let alone 4. Downrigger were firing as soon as I set them and so were the divers. The fish were beating us up.

It was a little bouncier than my wife likes it so I had to go East toward Rochester with the waves for my wife. Dropped a couple of big ones and never saw them. We got 3 more Atlantics today, a bunch of lake trout, a bunch of Kings up to 20lbs with a lot of skippers mixed in, along with Rainbows up to 9lbs and with a lot of skippers also mixed in. Everything came 95-110 ft down off the riggers. Spin Doctor and A-Tom-mik flies, dipsies were firing on dreamweaver super slims Alwifes. 220-260 on the line counter reel. Good day for catching in all. Just having problems getting the big ones in all of a sudden. Everybody have a good 4th of July. God Bless our Soldiers!!

Sounds like you had a good day with action. The size just wasn't there for you. My wife & I are going out tomorrow too. We'll start around 5:30. Still trying to talk her into fishing the Sandy tournament. -

Saw the temp I wanted was at 95 ft. Put a rod down with a spin doctor and an ATomic watermellon fly. No sooner got it down and the rod popped and I had a fish take out over 400 ft of line going North. Felt like a big fish. He was just gone. Any ways, we ended up having a good day. We even caught 3 Atlantic Salmon. Everything we caught came 80-110 down. We caught everything but browns. We went out deep and caught a lot of skippers so I quit messing with them and came back in to 300 fow. Set back up and we started getting some nice steelhead but nothing bigger than the 16 lber that Mary Anne already has on the board. It was probably our worst day for dropping fish. We dropped probably 6-7 fish. Fished from 6-11AM. I hope everyone is doing good out there. Going to try to get out again either Sunday or Monday. Everyone have a good July 4th. I know I'm feeling better knowing my Son will be back from Afghanistan in early August.

One more thing: I want to thank the person that hit my truck in the state launch and did about $2,000 and took off without leaving their name. -

Caught a lot of Lakers, a lot of Kings and a lot of Steelhead. I was lucky enough to pop a 25 lb King for 1st place . Won't last though. Most of the fish we caught we caught in 46-48 degree water. Trolling speed 2.5-2.8 on the Fish Hawk. Most of the Kings came on Proll Troll Echips and ATom-ik flies. A lot of fish came off the dipseys 225-259 out on #2 setting. Hot spoons were frog and blueberry muffin. The lake trout were eating that right up. Got home and see my wife's steelhead is in 2nd place. But at least we're both on the board for now. We'll be out again when my wife can get off work.

I have Big Jon Brute's. One broke and had to have a new switch and the motor was shot. I sent it in a week before the derby started and got it back with everything working fine and in time to fish the derby on the 18th. Good people to talk to and they will do anything they can to help you. I'm very satisfied with their service.

Came back into 80-100 and there was bait and fish on the bottom. Then it was nice pickings. Anything green was working. Lake Tout, Kings and steelhead. Most of the Kings were skippers. On of the steelhead my wife caught was 16lbs so she is on the board and very happy. Most of the fish came 70-80 feet down off the riggers. DW super slim mountain dew was firing really good. If the wife isn't too tired we'll be back at it again tomorrow.

Water is warming up fast now and there is plenty of bait. For catching, for fishing only the 2 weekends, we caught more fish than any derby I ever fished. Just had a hard time with size. Kings going from 8-16 lbs, biggest steelhead caught was 9lb 2 oz. Our best fish was a 14 lb Atlantic. Most of the lakers we caught were in the slot limit. Browns were from 8 lbs & down. We even had a super slam last weekend. There's a lot of bait around if you look for it. Most of my fishing was from the Nose West. Just follow the birds. Deep water produced a lot of fish. I have a 18 1/2 ft Scout and I launch out of the State Park and I'm handicapped with MS and other problems. It's a long walk to the launch as it is but when people park in the handicapped area and don't have handicapped stickers and can walk, this makes it hard on those who are handicapped. Along with people hitting your trailor. It's just too bad there's people like that in this world. In all, caught a ton of fish but just had a hard time catching anything with size. We lost a few. Hope it wasn't the big one. We'll be out again soon and will be fishing the summer derby too. Congratulations to everyone who put a fish on the board.

Reason why the brown trout flesh can be 2 different colors is because the orange ones eat more crustations, flies, crabs, fresh water shrimp, etc. and the ones who are white eat more alwives, smelt, gobbies, etc. When I was young, a very long time ago back in the 70's I used to catch browns in the eavening and night off Webster Pier on crabs. (softshelled the best). Night fishing for big browns is the best. They do feed on baby browns along with other trout. The bigger ones are loners and on full moon nights you can catch some nice ones on crabs. There's usually no difference in taste. It's all how you prefer to cook them. I like to smoke them. 40 years of fishing and I'm still learning. Bear
