Size is not an indication overall numbers. The south shore of Lake Ontario has never recovered its population from the 80s and 90s. That is directly related to the gobies. Also, the Smallmouth are still spawning in Cayuga, LO and SLR in June/early July. Many of these "big bags" are bedding fish! Including the big one caught in Cayuga a couple years ago. There are tons of recent studies on the impact of removing fish from beds, even temporarily during C&R tournements.

I have a 25 hp with one and hate it. If you try to bump in and out of gear, it briefly increases rpms and speeds up. Also, it "misses neutral" if you twist the throttle too fast. I like a shifter, set the throttle where you need it then bump it in and out of gear as needed.

Looking for a used 2015 or newer 15-20 hp long shaft electric start motor. Prefer Tohatsu, Nissan, Suzuki, Honda, or Yamaha. Mercury is ok if it Doesn't have to twist shift handle. Not interested in new motors.

Just be aware a south wind is your enemy on LC in the Valcour Island area. A 15-20 kt wind can produce 3-4 footers pretty quickly. Keep and eye on the weather.

I get this is a fishing forum, but we all like the outdoors. These camps are good start for kids to learn about hunting, fishing, camping, etc. They can't get enough kids or adults to work at several of the camps! It may be a depth/swim bladder issue, but several studies show fizzing isn't very effective. The biggest issue is the fish are beat to death in the live well. A 1-2 hour ride at 70 mph ride over 2-3 foot waves would beat the life out of anything. They need to limit how far the anglers can travel. What makes the difference if you win the tournament with 10 lbs of fish or 25? A win is a win. A live well full of 5 lbers makes for better photo ops than 2 lbers. Again, its about the money.

Don't remember anyone saying that. Just saying the Empire Pass should be honored. Can't believe the equipment is that expensive or technical to put into place. After all, they spent 7.5 million to renovate Sampson (most of which was taxpayer dollars), whats another few bucks to scan an Empire Pass. I have a call into Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for what its worth. Since the Finger Lakes Times carried the article, maybe they would be willing to ask a few questions on the fishermen's behalf. I'll call them tomorrow.

I have calls into my representatives. I suggest everyone do the same. My guess is if this works, all parks and launches could be in private enterprise hands. They will be able to charge what they want at the launches.

This subject may have been covered before but, Seneca Resorts will not except empire passes for launch. When I bought my pass, the Empire Pass webpage said Sampson and Seneca parks/launches excepted it (it still does). Has anyone else run into this, and what do you think? Seneca Resorts people said they don't have the "equipment" process the passes.
