  1. I'm making a list of everyone that has responded and will PM the interested parties all the details as they become available. The guides name is Jeff Chisolm @ http://www.hookedforlife.ca/quinteicefishing/ and we have always stayed here http://www.foxmotorinn.com/ hope this works for everyone that wants to go. Right now those that have spoken add up to 14. I contacted the Fox Inn and reserved 6 rooms in my name. I'm asking those of you that haven't already talked to me in person either give me a call or PM me. If you want to contact them directly and lock up your own accommodations that's fine. The guides are on board with our group, I spoke with him for 30 minutes last night. All we need now is some COLD weather.
  2. Coyotes can and will run a deer to COMPLETE exhaustion... after that well here's the pics to prove it. There built for endurance not speed and the whitetail deer can only run for so long. The pack will take turns running the deer and then move in for the kill. Maybe the buck in the picture was hurt but the overall health of an animal with that head gear like that would be good

    Must have been all female
  4. Thanks Guys, she was the first deer to cross my path in 3 years of exclusive carrying of the gun. I've shot it alot and can hit an 8" plate at 100 yards that being said it's still carries over 1000 ft/pds. of kinetic energy so they tell you at 200 yards it's only dropped 4". Aim center mass and let it rip. It IS a very heavy pistol and it needs to be to swallow some of the recoil but the whole shot gun thing was getting BORING for me .... Not having a scope has made a challenge for me and that's OK. The gun will shoot 3 different cartridges 45 Colt, 454 Casull, and the S&W 460 Mag. The 45 feels like a 22 the Casull has a much hotter powder and kicks like a 44 Mag. The 460 .... Well at 2300 FPS muzzle and over 1900 ft pounds of energy you get the picture. Go to youtube and watch the low light shots. It throws a 4 foot fireball out the gun and yes my ears have stopped ringing finally
  5. Got out this morning and had the chance to let my S&W 460 XVR do a little talking, this JUMBO doe made the wrong move at about 7:30 and crossed in front of me at 45 yards. My ears are still ringing but , man did it do a number on her.
  6. Right now Brian I'm not that worried about it.... now check with me in 2 weeks and then ??? A lot can happen in a FEW days with the right conditions
  7. OK guys to ALL of you that are interested or WANT to go please send me a PM with some contact info so I can call the Fox Motor Inn and get the Back wing locked up. Right now there's 14 guys in on this so I can't wait. We are looking at the weekend of January 28th & 29th. If some of you choose to find other accommodations that's fine. There are plenty of places to stay Napanee is kinda in the middle of all of it and you'll never drive more than 30 min in either direction. The rooms are clean and there is a small restaurant across the street (walking distance.)
  8. It drives my wife nuts but I've got to break them EVERY time that I'm here
  9. Nice buck Shawn....
  10. Dewey123 Send me a PM with a contact # and will talk. Right now it's looking like 9 or 10 of us LOU boys +/- a few. Your on the list as #8 . There's plenty of room for more
  11. OH NO ..... there's going to be a baby on board sticker on the Jeep Congratulations Abe hope you get a few minutes to perch fish this winter on Seneca
  12. AWESOME BUCK .... who says you've got to go to Pike County Illinois to shoot a monster Congratulations on a buck of a lifetime
  13. Dewey, I have hit Quinte for the past 5 years and have had some good, some so so. Always stayed at the Fox motor Inn and fished with Jeff Chisholm of the Quinte Ice Team. He's very fair to me but that's because I keep coming back. I don't need anything from him but REALLY trust the guy because BOQ is not somewhere you just walk around on because of the currents under the ice I've seen the ice go from 7"-8" to 3" in less than 200 yards. Be careful but remember this NO WHERE can you go and drop a lure and catch a 15 Lb. eye. My old man caught 3 fish over 10 Lbs. in 5 minutes and 2 others over 5 in the next 30 min. This was 12 Lbs. 6 Oz. PM me I'm going to set this up this year and it should be a good time
  14. I guess I've got to to eat my words ??? if there's no void then I didn't hit the buck at 12 yards below the spine and hit vitals ... I think I'm a pretty good shot and have harvested far more deer with my bow than a gun. Maybe I only got 1 lung because of the angle was clean quartering away and clean pass thru shot .... Oh well lesson learned that for clearing up a myth Paul. He who doesn't learn SOMETHING each day they walk this earth is................ DEAD
  15. About 3 or 4 years ago I shot a BIG 10 pt. and hit him "high" by that I'm saying thru the void that exists below the spine and above the vitals. It's about 3" to 4" at most and thats right where I put it, the rage hit the opposite lung but that is not enough to kill a deer. Good blood for about 250 or 300 yards then NOTHING found blood over a half mile from where I shot it but he went into a big swamp and that was it
  16. We would need to know a little more than boat and motor, do you have a tachometer ? what is the recommended top RPM for the motor ? what are you looking to get out of the prop ? by that I'm saying you can get a great hole shot by under pitching the prop which will also carry a greater load. If your trying to get the best top end you MAY not get on plane as quick. Trolling can be a different evil... if your trying to slow down your boat pitch up a little and it will slip if you lower your pitch it will have more low end bite and troll faster. 3 blade or 4 ??? I just changed to a 4 blade on my 19 foot Lund because I wanted maximum speed and with that I downed my pitch. I got the best of both worlds 12% increase in speed and cruising RPM are perfect. I'd have to guess your going to try a 17" prop on your Merc
  17. Beickerch's should have all you could want give Dave, Hans , Al or Jim a call 248-3660
  18. Don't apologize about it Jim. I have shot a few deer and never had issues with penetration, the 2 blades are nuts but I prefer the 3 blade. The doe I shot this year broke thru the shoulder and ran the length of the body. The tip section was sticking out the back hind leg. The blades cut across the femur. A quartering to me shot ( ya not the best angle ) but she wasn't getting away from me ... 2 years running.
  19. Matt I spent almost 20 minutes waiting for the 5th drake in the limit to surface I never saw him after he hit the water AND I put another round on him as he was falling because I knew he wasn't dead. The hen, #6.... bounced off the water and said see ya, again never saw her again.
  20. For those that don't know much about these birds (Longtails, Oldsquaw) they have been caught in fishermen's nets at depths of greater than 180' if you don't kill dead you usually don't recover them. For those of you thinking about giving it a try KEEP shooting if they don't drop out of the sky ... LIMP
  21. Matt in stoned 3 of the 6 and put WAY to many rounds out there after the cripples, but man is it nice out there. On another note there's a flock of between 1500 to 2000 Bluebills buzzing around the mouth of the river. I was awestruck at the amount of birds out there right now. At one point looking south to the shoreline from Van Lare to the river was nothing but birds, and thick.
  22. Took the advise of Missdemeanor and put a hurting on the longtails. Dropped my limit but didn't recover 2 of them forgot just how hard they are to kill... Thanks for the tip Matt
  23. This right hand Mathews Genesis has served it's purpose and the boy has moved into his new Bowtech Diamond
  24. Cabelas size 6 youth waders with 3 mm neoprene in Advantage 4Max pattern, looking to get $ 75 or B/O. These waders have been worn 2 or 3 times and now the boy has out grown them SURPRISE !!! they are in great shape and will provide some young hunter a couple great seasons of use
