  1. Come on Keith we didn't even get to run it and see if it was better than mine Jax, your welcome for it's safe return. Tight lines, Steve
  2. Great Pics and thanks for sharing Steve
  3. After getting in late Sat. night and not sure if I was going, I did get up on next to no sleep . Was a good morning and ended up north of Sampson and shallow, boated over 80 + fish and with some culling brought home 60 nice fish. A lot of fish 12"+ and a dozen fish like this over 14" and almost 2lbs. Co-worker had never fished Seneca for perch so I ruined him for awhile, now he wants to know when we can go back Steve
  4. Thanks Jim, Now I'm going to have to check under the cover before I pull out of the driveway. Maybe Sun. I got a shutdown @ 5 AM Sat. Steve
  5. Ya I'm serious, when they did the blind draw he piped up about not having a ticket for it. Why, he wasn't there when they were being handed out. Gotta wonder if I could bring a fish to the LOC after hours and still get it on the leaderboard..... Steve
  6. Go and buy a 2x long light wire #8 Gamagatsu in black or a Daichi long shank nymph hook. These are scary sharp and when those JUMBO'S your in search of breath on your bait, gently set the hook you don't need much. Run a drop shot rig with 4lb flouro and a 3/8 weight. Hope this helps a little. Steve
  7. Team Sleeman won with 9.41 lbs. Lunker fish was 2.00 and entered by a guy that walked in 3 minutes after 5 and should have been DQ'd but wasn't and it came from Keuka. Fishing is getting better but as with all Seneca perch you have to find them Steve
  8. Tim, If you put a couple of 2 lbs. on the board you'll be in the money. They don't come easy I'm hoping for 1 and a couple 1 3/4 fish. Steve
  9. I'm not discouraged just humbled by the lack of activity. I fished from 10' to over 70' and didn't get a tap. If it was my first circus then it would be different but I've got a few hours under my belt on Seneca. It just makes sense coming off a Super FULL moon and a major cold snap that they would be in a negative mood. That being said ... over cast and light winds should make for some good fishing this weekend. Steve
  10. Tim, Your in for a real treat, that being said Team Triple S will be in on our 6th season of the Perchmaster. Please go to the weigh in because it's one of the highlights of the day unless you don't like seeing 2lb. + perch Green 1900 Pro V Se See you at the weigh in Steve
  11. Wow... I launched at the Chamber of Commerce and fished almost everything south to Long Point yes 20 some miles give or take. Glass factory, south of Roy's across to Reeders, Officers club then north of Sampson. Down the lake to Long Point everything for about a half hour and DID NOT touch a single thing. God I love having a LUND because it wasn't very flat. Sure hope the fish turn on for next weekend because I'm not looking forward to another day of NOTHING, ZIP, ZERO , NADA.... hope the guys fishing the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters tourney found something !!!!
  12. Headed down in about an hour, if your nice I'll post some results . It's a tuff lake and can be a challenge for even the best pan fisherman Tight lines, Steve
  13. Bruce the battery is a 29 size hence Maxx-29
  14. Detective Lund SSS, The boy in the background is my sons buddy trying out my boys new SCOPED .22 , If you look close I think the camp being built next door doesnt have a building permit posted. Congratulations, you just cleared the air. I was in no way trying to implicated illegal hunting practices, just a very strange back round to a 5 man limit. Would think the successful waterfowl hunters would want a group photo. That's a great brace of birds, over 25 years of shooting the finger lakes and NEVER seen that many Redheads in a group harvested. Lam, I question everything I see, It's part of being a "know it all." As far as legal, having dead waterfowl and a 22 cal. you might not be happy with the outcome if a DEC officer was standing on the deck Migratory Game Bird Seasons & Regulations Information for Hunting Woodcock, Crow, Snipe, Rail, & Gallinule This is a summary of regulations about hunting migratory game birds other than waterfowl, including woodcock, crow, snipe, rail, and gallinule. You can read the state and federal regulations on the internet. The state regulations are in Title 6, New York Code of Rules and Regulations, Section 2.30. The federal regulations are in Title 50, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 20 * You must use nontoxic shot when hunting ducks, geese, brant, snipe, rails, gallinules, or coots. While hunting these species, you must possess only nontoxic shot. * Approved nontoxic shots include: steel, bismuth/tin, tungsten/iron, tungsten/polymer, tungsten/matrix, tungsten/nickel/iron, or other shot approved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Prohibitions You may NOT hunt migratory game birds using these methods: NOTE: Rifles and electronically amplified bird calls or sounds are allowed for crows only.
  15. Seasquirrel, Would the gentleman in the back round of the last pick be snipping redheads with a pellet gun or a 22. not really the best clarity but definitely a scoped gun there's a lot of Redheads on those stairs, at least 17 by my count. Maybe you have a big hunting party but only 2 per man ????
  16. The truth is this, when we go out all of our senses focus on what could be the worst possible out come. ANYTHING could prevent one or all of us from coming home. If the lake doesn't match the weather forecast than use your head. NO duck or FISH is worth your life. I'm thankful that the outcome of my fellow duck hunters was not a fatality and just a costly life lesson. I've been down that road and it nearly cost me a close friend on the Mighty Niagara river. Accidents do happen if we go out with the mind set that WE are mortal than some things we take for granted should weigh heavier than others....... Happy New Year to all my LOU friends and stay safe
  17. Seems like some people just don't realize how "hardcore" us late season duck hunters are. Stupid is as stupid does..... we saved some moron from Virgina at the north end when the 12' jon boat with 4" of freeboard and a Sears robuck motor from the 60's didn't cut it in 20 mph ENE winds. Your welcome and stay off the Finger lakes if your not READY for all that mother nature can dish out
  18. Thanks for the comeback sandwick50
  19. Where did you get the prints for a layout boat ???? Have wanted to make one myself but can't seem to find plans for a 2 man boat
  20. A guy in our hunting party had 1 last year and I never looked at it . What am I missing 43 gr. of powder ? I using 100 gr. of pyrodex and a 250 gr. Barnes Expander with Deadly results. How can 43 gr. be enough powder Shoot straight and report back to us please. Maybe a new smoke poll is in order
  21. Flybuster & Sandwick50 Shot Conesus on Sun. with Gator and completely expected to shoot a limit of divers but, to our surprise only had 2 Goldeneye fly through before legal shooting than a few hen Bufflehead mid morning. We didn't even shoot at the butterballs because they deeked in soooo quick we couldn't get the guns up. Ended the day having taken our limit of Mallards 4 drakes, 4 hens . Flybuster might have an opening come late season but there ALWAYS guys looking to join us on Seneca for the Redheads, Bluebill Goldeneye, and alot of Mallards and Blacks . Drop me a PM and we'll talk (exchange #'s)
  22. Home brew and hydroponic store on rt. 96 in Victor NY has all you could want don't know the price
  23. In over 25 year of hunting deer I've never aimed AT the shoulder, not that there's anything wrong with it. The crease right behind the shoulder is and has always been my focal point, that way a shot left or right of 5" and your still enjoying " backstrap fever baby" "where have we seen this before"
  24. I had 10 pounds of mild slim jims made last year and I'm a little pissed off, there's ALOT bone in them !!!!! Almost every one I've eaten has a piece of bone in it. Love the taste of Tony's stuff but this is really tough on the teeth and doesn't go over real well when you offer it up in the Duck blind and you hear a loud CRUNCH from the guy next to you
  25. Congratulations on a nice buck, as far as loud I finished off my old mans buck last week and my hearing is just coming back a S&W 460 with a 275 gr. Barnes Expander out of a 8 3/4" barrel HOLY CRAP !!!!!
