BUMP, With a better description, The 2 rods your asking about are the Diawa graphite Regal Strike model A6786OE 8 1/2 ' 2 piece trolling rods. Trolling weight 1/2- 2 1/2 oz. Line weight 12-20 lb test. Listed as Medium action but I always used them as my spring trolling rods for Browns. They have enough backbone for Kings but not for Dipsys or Lead. The 2 10' rods would be better for that.

Help with water level I-Bay State Launch
Lund SSS replied to momay4000's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Well Chris funny you ask, last night Ray K had a link http://www.great-lakes.net/envt/water/l ... ntwlc.html the lake is much lower than normal and you may want to go to the Genny launch. I can only imagine Braddocks is closed off. -
Thanks Ray, I stand corrected, HOLLY !@#t 243.3' that is a huge difference from whats post in the paper. Just bookmark the page

Ray I couldn't agree more with that statement but I want to see the "trend" in fish size to establish a basic idea of the previous years catch. This info is far greater to me in the early days of derby. We always wonder if we should run in a fish only to find it wouldn't/would have been bumped off that day

I have 4 rods that were my back ups and just don't need them kicking around any more. 2- 8'6" Diawa graphite strike older but in good shape $10 each 1 - 10' Diawa graphite strike also in good shape $10 1 -10' Kodiak rod nice looking rod, good dipsey or leadcore rod it's on the "soft" side

"Let's say you caught a fish that made the board. When it's your turn at the rod you happen to land another fish that would make the board. Well you know if this fish is smaller than your previous one, it's no good. And, if it's larger you will knock your previous one out but if you let your buddy register it.." Dave, please post the most recent derby stats so everyone knows if it's worth running a fish to the scales or not. Why should a bunch of 10 lb trout die if they don't stand a chance at placing on the board.

Just thought I'd toss this out there, as of Sat. April 24, 2010 the Lake Ontario water level is 244.8' the long term avg. for the lake is 245.7' this info comes from the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper. The lake is ONLY down 9 tenths of a foot. That is 10" guys and I'm not happy about it either but unless the Army Corps. starts holding more water at Malone we are in for a shallow season

Cabela's, Spro buck tail jigs their sold from 1/2 to I think 3 ozs. Not cheap but high end jigs tied on Gamagatsu lead heads. To answer your question about shape their somewhat torpedo shaped. Just restocked my supply because you will lose a few if your fishing it right. That is Real close to the bottom.

Bp, You might want to take " Gator" s advise on this one, His boat "Nothin But Net" has put a Lake Trout on the board for the last 4 years and having the pleasure of being a part of it I'll tell you flat out 1 1/2 ounce white bucktail will produce 99% of the time. Ya might even hook a sturgeon, every year someone on the boat sticks one.

Jax Report Ibay 4-22-10

Thanks for the report sounds like you had a good morning -
With the right prop a 9.9 would push your boat around with no problem. Your not going to be happy with a 25 hp stuck on the back. Sounds like you might not have enough room back there any how.

Go to Officemax and buy a super-permanent sharpie the rest is self explanatory I hope. Or if you really want to make it difficult go to Radio Shack and buy small heat shrink tubing and take your lighter and do it up right.

Pretty sure it is a VMC #2 treble.

Your trailor has brakes on it so make sure there in good order before you go to DMV. It needs to be inspected and pass test before they will give you a sticker that says void across it. This great state of ours going to suck us sportsman dry. Hey Patterson

Sandy Creek Sun 4/18
Lund SSS replied to Traveling Circus's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Well done Mike, sounds like you had a nice afternoon trip with some excitement. The amount of Atlantics being landed this spring is awesome. I hope to get out soon. Still on the mend from back surgery and don't want to push it. The derby will probably be my first trip of the season Tight Lines, Steve -
Just re-powered last year and put a 09' 150 HO on my Lund. These motors are amazing and run so smooth. Idle at 500 rpm and full throttle screams at 5500. HO put out 175 hp at shaft and hole shot is very impressive. I wouldn't hesitate about the Etec one bite. Tight Lines, Steve

Thanks for the feedback guys, just got a couple off 47's just not enough backing on the 27's Steve

I'm not totally sure but, should I expect 5-6' of sink per 10 yards from a 27 lb. core rig. Planning on cutting it for boards and running 1 six color and 1 four color. 30' and 20' respectively ? Any suggestions from you hardcore lead men. Will it fit on a 27 Sealine with 200 yards of 20 lb. powerpro behind it. Looking to expand my spring spread outward Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the link, just registered and I'm looking forward to trying to rid our great fishery of these nasty things. I've cut the heads off every one that comes aboard the Triple SSS. Tight Lines, Steve -
New life jacket law
Lund SSS replied to jeremyseg's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Maybe you should re-think your statement " enables us to survive " your body WILL shut down within 15 minutes. Your arms and legs won't work , your core temp will lower beyond 85 and you lose consciousnesses, maybe if your following the PFD law there will be a chance of recovering your body with out a dive team. Hypothermia kills Steve -

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Triple S ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/7/09 Time on Water: 6:oo am to 12:30 pm Weather/Temp: Cloudy 75 Wind Speed/Direction: ESE @ 5-10 Waves: less than a 1' Surface Temp: 72 Location: west of creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 13 Total Boated:9 Species Breakdown:6 kings, 3 steelhead Hot Lure: spoons for the steel, kings came on spindocs Trolling Speed: 2.25 -2.5 Down Speed: 2.5-2.75 Boat Depth: 75'-350' Lure Depth: 65'-85' ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got off to an early start with out any hits till 8'am, needless to say my greenhorn partner drops the first 2 releases and can't seem to figure out that once I've set the hook you don't really need to slam the hook home a few more times. (Deans 6'4 & 320 lbs.) OK now that I've got that out of my system we're working north when 165' wire rips, 22lb king in my hands. Then 3 steelhead as fast as I can get spoons down. First 28 glowfrog, then NBK stingray twice. We get too about 250' and theres decent bait and hooks in this zone then spindocs on wire out 210' fires nice king 18lbs. Work out to 350' picking at them all the way , best depth for us was about 285' seem like every time we'd see bait we get a release. Had a great closer to the Fall LOC Tight Lines, Steve
