  1. There's always something to look at when you're partner says so
  2. What............. you mean the lake blows 6'-8' waves from the NE and everything in its way is destroyed in one day. Come on guys this never happens on Lake Ontario. The only thing this plan does is make for some damn good duck blinds right on the lake shore
  3. Les your post are never "long winded" or boring..... Insightful , detailed, in-depth, informational, and most of the time precise. When people turn to others for info sometime the questions need to be long winded AND complicated. I always enjoy hearing what you have to say
  4. my boat will do 50 MPH ...... is that fast ???
  5. you guys are a TOTAL wealth of knowledge far beyond my "blue collar" education !!!!!! The question was simple....HOW FAST. should we start to think about earths rotational pull in relation to the surface as apposed to at 100' ??? Speed up or slow down sooner or later you'll get hits, try and remember, were you going fast or slow.
  6. look up www.walleyecentral.com you will find many boats from 5k- 50k depends on your buget
  7. Sorry for the delayed response, I'm running a 2009 Evinrude ETEC HO, prop shaft is rated @ 173 hp. I'm running a 4 blade 19" OMC prop. Used to have a 3 blade 21" and there night/day in handling. Now I might add 4stroke and my ETEC are different beast's altogether. My boat will jump on plane or for that matter jump out of the water if you smash the throttle. 9. On the water well before sunrise, hope they want to eat before the heat set in Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Do yourself a big favor, take the time to travel west 20 minutes and launch from a free state launch. Sandy creek will not disappoint you at all and if your looking for 100' you'll find it out about 1 mile. 8 for 11 on weds. AM on SD/fly combo Just my 2 cents. Ibay would be 15 min. From my house but I almost always drive to Braddock's or Sandy Creek in Hilton Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Ended the AM 8 for 11 Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  13. Left the chute @ 5:35 and set up right at 70' .... 300 copper with meat took a rip with no one home. Great temp down 65' 48 degs. Mag diver out 120 takes first major and then for the next 2 hours a steady pick on kings. 9 AM start to look around out to 120' then back towards 80' at 10:30 diver out 150' gets slammed so hard my partner CAN'T get it out of the berts holder. First run is 350+ and he's a bit panicked...relax BOB !!! needless to say it's a good fish just not good enough 25.08. All in all a good morning but WOW are they dark colored fish with pink bellies. Will post pics when there downloaded Tight Lines, Steve
  14. HOWIE......!!!! Ata boy Eric, now if you'd called me we could have put him on a derby fish
  15. The same over @ Braddocks probe down 125' had 70. Dropped it to 140 and found 55. Screen looked great but no takers. Picked up and ran offshore shut down @ 590' had temp down 80'. Ended 3 kings, 2 steelhead. Nothing worth weighing in.
  16. When you trim or for that matter take off (hole shot) the prop blades deflect. To some degree that changes the pitch and affects the performance of the prop. With SS the change is minimal and thus performance is greater, While under way trimming a prop the load will again distort the prop and way it performs. It took me 3 tries to "dial in" my ideal prop. 18. Some times less is more.... That being said I have run 4 wires off my 19' Lund and yes they have all caught fish . Lately I've come to find 2 wires, 2 riggers (with fixed cheaters) and a copper down the chute Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Sorry to tell you but there's no " getting more HP" better performance from your motor ..... yes. As Sea Iv said what's your motor, what are you running now, pitch wise. What's WOT currently, (wide open throttle). Manufactures recommended top RPM. There a lot of variables that go into the "perfect" prop and some sacrifices that might be made to achieve what your looking for Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. I started with Roemers back 30 years ago but so did everyone else. Now it's Blacks above the ball and if I'm in the mood to stack I throw the Offshore twins on the cable Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Gentleman we reference speed it's got to be at the ball. There have been days when you couldn't move in an west direction (SOG) without almost getting on plane and if you turned east you'd move 2.0 mph almost in neutral. The whole reason we all rely on speed probes @ the ball. If your going to call 1.5 mph............. 2.2 than I don't care. The body of my post was to Fluctuate your lure speeds with changes in direction and find what they want, thats all.
  22. No Jerry I was not aware of that but .....still stick to my statement MPH is MPH. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. why would you put the type of probe in the equation......???? the speed is the question. If your probe isn't calibrated than fix it. Speed is MPH period. As far as whats working...years have shown anything from 2.0 mph up to 3.0 mph can productive, get your wire dipseys out and make sweeping turns now and again. When your outside gets slammed there in the mood for speed, if the inside goes than the fish are being lazy and don't want to chase. Something I've always expressed to people on my boat is this.... a Chinook Salmon cruises the lake @ 5-15 mph so, your kidding yourself if you think your going too fast at 3 mph. Think about how fast they can rip off 300'-500' of line off your reel ??? Every day is different you just have to experiment till you find their "mood"
  24. worked from 120' out to 220'..... both kings were in 160' wind was NOT fun SSW @ 20 MPH. Made boat control less than easy, trolling with big motor helped keep control
  25. got beat up this AM for a few hours, 1 laker, 2 small kings. Spin Docs and green flies down 80' off rigger and 160' out on mag dipseys. Pulled them at 8:30 after looking @ radar and seeing storms starting to build. FYI temps down 75'-80' if your trying to fish temp... (don't think warmer is going to hurt from here on out) Good Luck, Steve
