Never thought about that fruit of the loom! The same goes for banana muffins which are on my list of banned substances

This should be a very interesting thread. Although this is not related to fish on, whenever the fishing gets slow: A) We like to spray water all over the fishing poles and the riggers. Sometimes, this has trigger insane bites. B) One of my fishing buddies would light up a cigar and then the screen on the fish finder would literally become lit up with several streaking arcs! C) I would start to interrogate my fishing buddies to be sure they did not bring bananas on board. I can attest to a true occasion when we were chartering with Yankee Troller. We were hunting for steelies and there were no bite during that time. I asked around my fishing buddies to find out if they had brought a banana on board. When I found my friend had indeed brought a banana on board, I immediately raided his cooler and threw away the banana. Guess what, that guy who lost his banana was already on the deck fighting the fish and landed the biggest steelie and won the biggest fish pool from our group. A bite came after another and we had a stellar day. Go figure!

This is very sad news. Our prayers go out to the victims families and friends and supporters of Webster Fire volunteers. My brother is a member of FDNY 9/11 and it hurts to see our brothers lose their lives like that.

Damn Friggin Ice holes! Please share this with your fellow boaters who had their boat hit by thefts.

Have you been HOSED by marine repair shops
Pike Hunter replied to rapala's topic in Open Lake Discussion
UGLY: I have thought about sharing my negative experience about this particular boat sales and service near I-Bay. You can PM me with questions because I do not wish having to worry about a potential defamation lawsuit. Long story short - I spend $4,000 on the outboard repair and this ice hole has never solved the problem. Because I was so stupid and overly trusting, I bought a new boat from the same place. They have done a warranty repair on my boat and ended up giving me more trouble than what it was worth. A broken seal on top of the gas tank was a result of their stupid people working on my boat. Did they take accountability? No. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY BOAT TO THIS DARN FRIGGIN RIP OFF place. GOOD: RAS Outboard - west of IBay Pugsley Marine - East of IBay Bill Zahn of Independent Marine Service is available to go to your boat docked in I-Bay for marine service. Although he does not specialize in the outboard motor repair as he is an I/O guy, he does a fine job and he is HONEST guy to work with. IF I did not live too far from Hank, I will take my boat to him within a heart beat! IT does not matter that he is a moderator on this board - every LOU guy who had his boat worked on by him has vouched for him. -
Biggest Problems for Great Lakes Fisherman????
Pike Hunter replied to ITO Flies's topic in Open Lake Discussion
Good: Too many lures and not enough fishing days! Bad: Crazy rough lake on weekends and calm water during weekdays (this should not bother retirees) Ugly: Darn selfish thieves taking stuff away from charter captains and recreational boaters AND you cannot shoot the intruders with a gun on your boat when you catch them red handed. -

Ahoy Rick, Thank you for sharing all of your worthy posts for the rest of the fishermen on LOU. You have been generous and consistent with sharing your experience on the water which has helped thousands of us get the fish on board. All the best! Anthony -

Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: BRAVO ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9-8 Time on Water:6 am - 830 am Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: sw Waves: 1 Surface Temp: Location: ibay to GENNY river LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Boated:2 With the stormy forecast the night before, I was up studying the radar map like crazy. There was a long line of strong T storms spanning from ERIE to CINN.! OH. At 5 am, I decided it was a go and met up with two of my buddies, one was my former neighbor and Mark the shark - deaf fisherman from LOU. We started right out in 40 fow, the screen was FULL OF FISH! This is why I LOVE September! There is no need to run too far to find fish. Two riggers 40 and 50 down. With spin doc fly. And orange NK spoon with glow tape. Two divers 120 and 150 out on 2 settings, 300 copper. Within 15 minutes of trolling, First fish took nk spoon off the rigger. My former neighbor landed his First ever king salmon. How can one live in Rochester and not catch salmon!? I was so thrilled for my buddy when he held up the fish for a photo shoot. Next fish took pro troll green flasher with silver flash and glow with blue fly siggs rigs. Sure enough. MRk - deaf fisherman battled the fish for good 20 minutes. We cleared the lines to allow mark to fight the fish without getting into tangles. 50 feet away the hook on the fish jaw came unbuttoned. This was a HUGE fish. Around 8:30 am. We headed back in to be safe. We got back to the dock in time before it poured. Fishing in 40 to 60 fow, you must expect traffic as there were many charter boats out there with some rec boats. Everyone seemed to cooperate with each other today. Water level is very low in I bay outlet. StAy in the middle of the channel and watch out for the sand bar on your right when exiting the outlet to the lake. Tight lines. Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ====================

Sorry to hear about this, Bruce. My boat was hit several years ago when I was docked at Sutters. It does not matter where you dock, it can happen anywhere. The fall season is upon us and it appears that thefts happen more during this time. One advice I gave to my fellow fisherman was to take photos of the equipment sitting inside your cabin and anything of a value outside the cabin. I was able to use the photos as a proof for my claim with the insurance. Not everybody keep receipts of every item they purchase.

I am in disbelief after reading the comments on your post. Either you are BRAVE or you are just plain DUMB. Life is too short to allow for a mistake like this to happen when you are out there in the raging high sea. When I started out trolling years ago, I thought I was brave to be fishing in 5-7 sea with my 21' wellcraft.Back then, I was very green and overly motiviated to become a better fisherman and I would do anything to fish anytime. To this date, I just know it that I was FOOLISH to allow ourselves to be fishing in this condition. As a result of building experience under my belt, I am more careful as ever when it comes to planning a trip. Im not a faint hearted as some of you may not know me. I grew up fishing in Atlantic Ocean on my cousins 58' Egg Harbor. High Seas can KILL you. The swift changes to the wather conditions out there in the Lake can be DEADLY. For most of us, please take a moment to bury this in your heads: the sage advice from the captains who are concerned about keeping fishing SAFE for all in the lake. tight lines and safe fishing! Anthony

I-Bay 8/14/12 - solo today
Pike Hunter replied to momay4000's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
What a nice way to spend the day! Come to think of it, there are over 4,500 of us sitting behind the desks reading about your adventure this morning. I will take a slightly dirty boat with fish slime on it over a clean boat without any fish on it! -

This will go into your book of treasured memories with your family. Unlike my own kids, they are not up for trolling with me anymore They just wanted the tubing experience. Tight lines, Anthony
