  1. Beautiful King, Tom! Way to go. Thanks for sharing. I have learned plenty from you. One thing stood out is that you took off at 2:30 a.m. and had your first rod in the water by four. Whoa! I thought waking up before 5 a.m. is early enough. Now you got me thinking differently. Also, like Mark, please help educate the LOU about the adipose fin.
  2. Pike Hunter: Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6-29-09 Time on Water: 7 am - 11: 30 am Temp/Weather: 70" overcast Wind Speed/Direction: SW at 5 MPH Waves: 1 foot, calm Surface Temp: (68°F) Location: IBay - Genny LAT/LONG: 32-34 =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated: 0 Species Breakdown: nada Hot Lure: NK Watermelon, Monkey Puke Trolling Speed: 2.8 mph Down Speed: Boat Depth: 60 ft Lure Depth: 35 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Went out with my daughter and niece from Fl. We re at it again fishing 3 mornings out of 5 days. Hot spoon was NK Watermelon. First hook up, I reeled in and gave it to my niece. She looked at me and said nobody was home. We were fishing 40 to 60 FOW. Found mud plume around the Genny river. Zig zagged through the green and mud line. Screen was very active. Great marks all over in the zone. Same 35" rigger fired and we kept missing the hook up. I decided to reduce the length of the lure from the ball. Another rod fired over 60 FOW and lure was set at 35' and 40' out. I hooked the fish and gave the rod to my niece. She fought the fish for ten minutes before the fish came on surface. I thought it was a laker but as it came close, it was a huge brown! Easily 12 to 14 lbs. I had the net in my hand and the fish was near the trolling motor. My niece could not keep the tip of the rod up. The fish shook its head and there popped out the Watermelon spoon. If you heard a scream over the lake, please understand that I have just lost a derby brown! Now, like one would tell you, you would remember the one you lost more than the one you landed. In our case, we skunked and missed netting the fish. If you re reading this, go out there tonight as the fish are there! tight lines.
  3. Thats not the Mark we know. You re most humble by sharing your report. Best of luck on your derby brown. Tight lines.
  4. YT, lets keep the water clean! I mean lets keep the reports clean! Good post though.
  5. Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing. The Lakers are definitely there! I should try fishing with cowbells for these bottom dwellers despite the negative reputation surrounding the lakers. How far are the lures from the ball?
  6. Pike Hunter : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Sunday, June 28, 2009 Time on Water: 6:00 AM – 10:30 AM Temp/Weather: 80 Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: SW then NW Waves: (1 foot - Calm) Surface Temp: 63°F Location: I Bay LAT/LONG: (GPS Cords) =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 3 Total Boated: 2 Species Breakdown: 2 Bows Hot Lure: NK28 Emerald Green & Unnamed Trolling Speed: 2.8 mph - 3.2 mph Down Speed: N/A Boat Depth: 150 ft Lure Depth: 30 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My second trip with my daughter and niece from Florida. We skunked last Friday. Yet, the girls gave me another chance. Went out earlier than last Friday. Started trolling 80 FOW to 155 FOW. Ran planer board, copper and two riggers 70' and 35'. Empty screen was not exciting to watch. Saw few marks in 80 FOW and nothing in between 100' and 150'. Tried to follow the scum line. First 30 minutes in 90 FOW, the first fish came on NK28 Emerald Green (?) on rigger 40' down. It was my niece's first Rainbow Trout. Two hours passed by, I found another scum line in 155 FOW, a second fish came on NK (red and black with ladder tape - will look up for name) on free slider. Nice bow 6 lbs jumped in the air almost ten times! My daughter handled the rod beautifully and kept the line in the "box" and she was thrilled to land this fish. All in all, a very slow day. The girls are asking me to take them out for bass action in the bay.
  7. WTG JR! Thanks for sharing the report!
  8. OMG, what a great report! You kept the streak going like there is no end. Big Dave got it right - the one that got away leaves a lasting impression on your brain. I skunked this morning on a short trip from 6:30 to 8 am. I was trolling in between 80 and 120 FOW. Very few marks. I saw a nice color break in 90 FOW. With my parents and niece from Fl in town, I made sure I got home with a box of donuts before 9 a.m. Will be out there tomorrow with the children. Tight lines.
  9. Nice going YT. Thanks for sharing a very encouraging report. My first day of vacation starts tomorrow and I will be taking children out tomorrow. Hope to post a good report. Tight lines.
  10. Thanks for sharing a good report! I finally got my boat back from McMillians. A one day tune up job turned out to be six days job as they did not have the part in stock for a simple water pump replacement in the outboard engine. I did not have the boat on my fathers day which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I had to get my house ready for my parents stay with us. Indeed, I ran out to the lake after 8 p.m. last night. Started trolling in 80 FOW. Debris everywhere. One hit but nobody home. Perfect sunset. \ Hope to head out this weekend. Tight lines.
  11. You got a PM! Anthony
  12. Rodrattler - Im not sure where you live. I have a pair of cedar planer board and some stick baits for you. I live in Rochester. I might be at the Sodus Pro Am. LEt me know what works for you.
  13. Thanks for sharing the report. I envy you for being out there as I have been sitting behind a desk all day.
  14. Tom, Thanks for sharing a great report. This is the best visual report I have seen. Pictures are worth a thousand words! Tight lines. Anthony
  15. Exactly! It is ok to be screaming out by yourself in the middle of the pond. No, you re not crazy for yelling out like that.
  16. Also, when fishing solo. I have the net on the rail mounted rod holder handy so I would hold onto one rod with my right hand and net on my other hand. I would pick up the rod a bit and slide in the net under the fish. Not an easy feat.
  17. Awesome report, Chris! Def a fast and furious action for you. We went out yesterday morning 6 am to 11 am. Took my two buddies who never fought king in their life. We were Zero for Two. On our deepest rigger, the rod fired and I hooked up the fish and then handed over the rod to each rookie only to hear from them that theres nothing on the line. I am very envious of your recent catches. Thanks again.
  18. I love that steelie in the picture! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Beautiful steelie. Great picture! Your son will always remember his fishing trip with you.
  20. Beautiful Chromers! Great pictures! Thanks for sharing!
  21. Great pictures! It is amazing about what works at Lake O also works at CA! Tight lines.
  22. John, thanks for sharing your report. Yes, I saw your boat as I approached 80 FOW area as you were the only one out there. You made a very good choice to stick around this area rather than going out too deep. I agree that the 13# King can fight real hard. The King I caught weights almost the same as yours and I thought it was much bigger fish given the way I had to hold on to the rod and I had to shut off the trolling motor after I reeled in the other line. This young King sure beats the hell out of the 20# King that I boated in last Sunday. Does it mean that the younger the fish are (in teens) , they fight more furious? I dont use radio at all given both of my ears are deaf. I carry Blackberry and we could exchange text messages about our fishing activity. Tight lines.
  23. Thanks YT. Best of luck on the Pro-Am this weekend. I am still hiding my tail between my legs from participating in the tournament. I will stop by to check out the excitement this weekend.
  24. Pike Hunter : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6.10.09 Time on Water: 7 pm - 9 pm Temp/Weather: 62 Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: NW at 5 MPH Waves: 1-2 Footers shifting to 1 foot, Calm Surface Temp: 54.5°F Location: North of Irondequoit Bay LAT/LONG: N 17.8, W 31.5 to 32 =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: King Hot Lure: White Spindoctor with Green Glow A-TOM-MIK Fly Trolling Speed: 3.1 mph Down Speed: n/A Boat Depth: 90 ft Lure Depth: 60 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I took a buddy out on Tuesday evening and we saw how the lake were rough with windy conditions and NE waves 3-4 footers. I ventured out for a short roller coaster ride and did not drop a line. Instead, we headed back to the dock. Last night, the lake was calling me to go out solo in a perfect condition with calm wind and quiet lake. After an hour of trolling, I found the bait pods on screen in between 80 and 90 FOW. I turned my boat in figure 8 directions and immediately the rod fired. It took me good 15 minutes to boat this teenage king - 14#. Healthy fish and released successfully. I went back to my waypoint where the bait were located. The rods fired and nobody was home. AS I took picture of this lovely sky with the sun set, another rod fired and I did not find a fish on the line. I am just an idiot for taking a pretty pictures of the sun set when I should have been paying attention to the rods. Baits were out there last night in 90 FOW. I continue to find more baits as I trolled back to about 70 FOW. Tight lines.
  25. YT, For sure, that SmartFish is helping me fish like a bright fisherman! Just read your post about your recent tournament experience. Wish you best of luck for the next weekend. I know Im smart enough NOT to compete with the big boys - not just yet. Tight lines. AD
