  1. Both Ft Niagara ramps are miserable. The North ramp is practically unusable as its very shallow and no where to tie on to. If you had someone holding the boat after you launched maybe you could get out on the South ramp cause there is no dock to tie onto there either just the big posts that are in the way and have been like that for 3 years now. If there any wave action, good luck with that. What a waste of tax payer money, ramps that cant be used. Keep in mind these were the conditions about a week ago or so.
  2. When I was at E Manitou last week there was construction equipment parked in the parking lot where trailers park. Not sure if its still there. Wow access is a problem in this lake. Why in the world doesnt NYS DEC put a launch ramp in Hamlin Beach State Park? They have plenty of room for parking too. Just need to build a small harbor like Sturgeon Pt on Erie.
  3. I dont ever recall seeing the concrete ass pains completely out of the water before. Wow the water is low. One extreme to the other. What purpose do those things serve anyways? This is the only launch I can recall that has those things.
  4. Fjrider, Thanks for your work. One question. When you say "Braddocks Bay- ramps go deep go". Where are you referring to? The Marina on E Manitou is under construction, the one on Manitou Rd has little water and the old Skinners marina on the North side is closed. ????
  5. So I have always wondered what happens to the fish in the Erie Canal once they let the water out for winter. For instance around Spencerport - Brockport they let out most of the water for winter and maybe there is 1-2 feet left in it before any ice. Do the fish travel towards Lake Erie to get out or do they live in 1-2 feet of water (unlikely) or is there more than 1-2 feet left in it? I have always wondered this question but have never heard a good answer. Can anyone chime in who may know?
  6. Never mind. I think I answered my own question right off the Canada website. COVID-19 Notice: July 20, 2020 During the COVID-19 pandemic, unless exempted, foreign national boaters are not permitted to enter Canadian waters. Failure to comply with the current prohibition of entry for discretionary or optional reasons (leisure, pleasure fishing, sightseeing, etc.) may result in severe monetary penalties or criminal conviction and/or imprisonment. Visit Information for foreign boaters for more information.
  7. Is it true one can not fish in Canadian waters on the St Lawrence and Niagara even if they have a Canadian license? I must be living under a rock as I thought it was ok but just read they could take your boat if you are not moving (fishing) but allow you to travel through. Holy mackerel, glad I checked. Does anyone know if this is true or did I read some internet BS? Thanks BP
  8. It definitely was not a carp or shad. Im sure it was some kind of shiner type. The Fallifish is the closest I have found but I dont think even that is an exact match. Maybe. They were big though. Relatively speaking and no not a Whitefish either, I have caught them. Been fishing 57 years now and this is a first for me not knowing what the heck I caught. Got several of them that day.
  9. Last summer I was getting these while Smallmouth Bass fishing near Waddington. Im not totally sure 100% what they are. Some kind of chub/shiner. Maybe a Fallifish? They were about 12" or so. Anyone know for sure what these are?
  10. Same guy who doesn't know what the term "catch and release" means. Keeps every walleye he catches no matter the size. Keeps virtually everything. If the Henderson fishing goes downhill, he'll have himself to blame. Its like hes living in the 1960's....catch it and keep it. He's posted numerous "hero" shots of huge catch and kill shots. Now the waterfowl thing.....omg.
  11. My guess is its a reverse cross between a female Pike and Male Musky. The reverse of a Tiger Musky. Years ago they stocked them and the were called Norlunge. Cool coloring regardless. Hope it was released.
  12. Im with you Gambler. Love the Lakers especially on jigs or stopping the boat and fighting them instead of dragging them. They fight awesome and dig the bottom. No issues here.
  13. OMG those tournament Pros are pounding that river almost every week but when on the beds? Thats sickening. Give it a break!
  14. Same problem here. I have like 3 packs of expireds and have no clue what to do with them. Nobody seems to know what the right thing to do is.
  15. Thats rediculous. What if you dont have change on the way out or the machine wont take your money? Stupidity. Tell me why in the heck doesnt NYS make a nice launch at Hamlin Beach? They have all kinds of room for parking and the launch. More money for them. So they might have to make a small harbor or breakwalls or something, they could do like Sturgeon Pt On Erie. Launching around here is a joke and that includes Sandy even when open if you like walking 2 miles to your car.
  16. Anyone have an update on which ramps are open or closed in the Oak area? Thanks
  17. Gaffs are now illegal in NY arent they? Ive never had an infection in over 50 yrs of pike fishing and in fact Ive never heard of that. Maybe he just had some kind of reaction? Nice fish though.
  18. What I dont get is how the DEC calls a special meeting in Geneva to discuss the health of the lake and continues to allow perch to be sold commercially. Dah.... They just dont get it and neither do the rednecks who dont give a sh*& about legal or moral limits and takes. Most likely the people reading here arent the problem, its the uneducated rednecks with 1950s mentality. Catch and kill. DEC needs to get their act together about the commercial fish rule. Seems like poachers are as much of or more of a problem now in this day and age as any ever especially up in Northern NY where they do whatever they like and write their own rules for fishing and hunting. Fish and game doesnt have a chance with the current lack of manpower the DEC has across the state. There is no morals left either.
  19. Not too sure but I think all the guys keeping all the spawning pigs in recent years has not helped the situation. The big spawning females should be released considering Seneca is only a shell of what it was 5 yrs ago. Perch do fluctuate wildly on all waters though so you may see a comeback but something is wrong with Seneca for all species. Keep the medium size ones and let the slobs go back.
  20. I wonder if they meant to write Wellesley Island where they wrote Wells Island twice? 30 MPH limit during the day? They can write tickets all day long on that. Didnt see anything about the 100 feet from an anchored boat. Thanks for finding that.
  21. So basically we have laws that are not enforceable then. When is the last time you saw somebody get a ticket for coming within 100 feet of an anchored boat......Never. Im assuming that law doesnt apply to drifting boats that are not anchored?
  22. No I wasnt fishing in front of the park. I was fishing on both sides of the river US and Canada. The worst was on the US side near the park but not in front of the park. So what are you doing...turning this around on me now like its my fault? I know a thing or 2 about remote fishing and where to go. I just didnt expect so many rude boaters who had so little regard for fisherman. You sound like one of them rolmops. At one point I started to Musky troll and I had a guy come parallel (same direction) next to me full speed 20 feet away and then cut right in front of me.
  23. Just because they were tagged doesnt mean they were fizzed. How do you know they were fizzed? Any way you look at it, to have BASS or any other catch and keep in the livewell tournament come up here when the fish are in 35-45 feet is a bad idea. Means lots of dead bass.
  24. I have been boating over 50 years and have never seen anything like the rude boaters around Wellesley Island State Park last weekend. It was unreal. I was fishing fairly close to shore and I had at least 6-7 boaters come between me and the shore going full speed. 30-40 MPH. It was maybe 1/2 of a cast. I could of easily hit them with a cast. I have never seen anything like that before. Maybe 1 fool but not 6 or 7 different boats. Pleasure boats, other fisherman, bass boats, it did not matter. I also had other boats in a few different spots come ridiculously close while we were fishing...full speed. I think I invented a few new swear words! How is no boating license not required? Simply ridiculous. All boaters should have to take a boater safety and etiquette course not just those under 16. Just plain rude boaters up there and elsewhere nowadays. I can remember when I was a kid, boats would slow down if somebody was fishing and be courteous but that is no longer the case. What a shame. Isnt there a rule that says you can not come within so many feet of a anchored or still boat? I must be old school cause I still slow down for guys that are fishing and never go between them and the shore.
