Thats a ditto. Canandaigua is better for catching perch but Seneca has bigger ones. Problem is, its like looking for a needle in a haystack. Its real easy to get skunked if you don't find them.

Can this be so? If Im fishing the Niagara bar with a CNDN license and I cross the line while drifting the green bouy and I need a Passport or enhanced id to go back to the youngstown launch? This is F*&%* rediculous. If thats the case, they can keep their license next year and Ill fish US waters only. Theres plenty of water on the US side. BP

Looks to me like its too risky not to have one. Ive always had one but now even a conservation license with the outdoor card will run 50 bucks. Do the newer GPS mapping units have the boundry line?

Can anyone tell me at the Niagara Bar how far west of the green buoy the Canadian line starts? I have an older gps that has no boundry line on it and Im trying to see if you can fish the bar without a canadian license. I know the green buoy is in US waters but Im wondering how far from it you can go to still be in US waters. Thanks

worm harness mono or fireline???
BP Swing replied to BP Swing's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Thanks Gonefishin for the info. I got all my Vanish and tossed it. I bought the 100%Berkley Flouro from 4-15 lb test. My days with Vanish are over. You are right a great company like Berkley, it is surprising they still have it for sale. I'll use the 15 lb for my harnesses. Thanks. BP -
worm harness mono or fireline???
BP Swing replied to BP Swing's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Landshark, It broke in the harness leader. The only thing I can figure is it was vanish. I have had many problems with vanish breaking in all different pound tests. Today I replaced all my flouro leaders 4lb-15 lb with new Berkley Flourocarbon. expensive but should be well worth it. I am certainly not the first to have problems with vanish, it is well documented. I am dumb for sticking with it so long. By the way it was not quite dark when I lost that fish, maybe it caught a tooth too. Thanks BP -
worm harness mono or fireline???
BP Swing replied to BP Swing's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Yes it was a walleye and 8 lb seems way too light. I like the seaguar though. Anybody here use fireline for their leaders under the spinner blade? -
OK so Im wondering what guys like for worm harnesses. Mono or superline leaders under the spinner blades.????? I lost a huge walleye last night with a Vanish 14 lb leader and Im thinking of retying all my worm harnesses to fireline crystal 14/6. Im interested in what other guys are using and what lb. test. One thing is for certain. Vanish sucks. This is not the first time it failed me. My fault for sticking with it. Anyone like the new Berkley Flouro ? Thanks BP

who cares if the guy posts?. Hes selling a boat. If Im looking for that model boat...why do I care if he posted his fishing reports? He has it under classifieds. Chill out

What would be the best size worm harness blade and style and color for Erie eyes? Ive heard watermelon in the past and purple but never a size. Anyone? Thanks BP

Anyone know how long the dreaded June Niagara Moss lasts??? I was there (lower) last Sun looking for some bass but the moss was so bad, you could not even make 1 cast without messing up your lure. Single hook lures were better but still a pain. Not to mention the border patrol, coast guard, jet skis, jet boats, messed up weather report calling for 5-10 mph sw winds and it was 20-25 mph with whitecaps all over the lower river. Can these weather guys ever get it right? Got a few small bass and wasted alot of gas doing it. Im going to quieter places for awhile. BP

Trophy bass season on Lake Ontario?
BP Swing replied to BP Swing's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Most of the smally kills are extreme temperature related. There was a huge die off at Sodus 2-3 yrs ago and boy did it show the next year. It was horrible. I used to catch 80-100+ bass a day and it went to 10-20/ the next year. If you saw 12 dead bass at braddocks, it doesnt surprise me. Anybody do well at Wautoma anymore? -
Trophy bass season on Lake Ontario?
BP Swing replied to BP Swing's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
The big fish kill 2-3 yrs ago I think was limited to sodus to eastern basin. I dont recall any big die off from the niagara to Rochester, then again the rochester area sucks for smallmouth compared to points west and east. Yes I know there are some spots but minor compared to east and west. The bass I got last year in the lake were much bigger than years past. It used to be school bass but now they were 17-19" range and very fat (gobies). -
Does Lake O. /St. Lawrence R have a trophy bass season similar to Erie? I wouldnt keep anything anyway but would at least want it to "count" if I got a good one. Thanks BP

good point about the trolling. I didnt think of that. Thanks

Ive often wondered this if wax will make an aluminum boat go faster? Does anyone have a clue? I dont see why it wouldnt work so I may try.

This is no joke. Over the last 3 years, Ive had 3 different Minn Kota motors stop working. The newest today. When I took it apart to look at it, inside the motor housing was water, rust, gunk, etc. Mind you this motor was only 4 years old and kept inside when not in use. I had the same problem earlier this year with another. They do not know how to seal their motors and keep the water out of the motor housing. It gets wet and the brushes rust, etc. These things are Sh**. I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a electric motor to go with motorguide. (I have owned minn kota motors for 30+ years and I notice a huge drop in quality in their transom mount motors.

Can anyone tell me if there is a clear cut advantage of having a combo unit vs. 2 separate components? I already have a depth finder I like but I was thinking of upgrading my old b&W gps to a color one that accepts navionic chips. Im leaning toward a new gps. Am I missing something here by not getting the combo other than a much lighter wallet? Thanks BP
