I dont see a lot of anglers chiming in on how good jet divers are. Im sure they work at times but Im wondering if I should convert that rod to a dipsey now.
-
I like the idea of the Torpedo divers but not sure if they work. At that price they should. How do they work for you?
-
Larson I am referring to jet divers not dipsies. 2 different items. I have no problem with dipsies (usually).

They only have 30 lb spools at BE and I am not sure why Cortland has it on their site as they dont sell it there anyway.
-
Seems like they would, I must be doing something wrong then. Tried them many times but nothing ever hits them.
-
Yeah I sort of figured that out but it doesnt make sense why a fish wouldnt hit it if its down 40 feet. There is a 8 foot leader or so and it cant spook them anymore than various flashers, etc. would but the proofs in the pudding for me. Have any of you guys ever caught anything on one or does anyone even use them?
-
Yes but they only make it in 30 lb anchor rope.
-
I wouldnt doubt that. St Lawrence goes to the ocean and they have been know to be in freshwater from time to time. I hear shark rumors in the lake every 5-10 years it seems. More likely though is a huge musky bit that salmon in half. It happens all the time when guys are bringing in bass and walleye. 10 lbs isnt squat for a big musky to hit.

Does Cortland or anyone else make flea ficker line anymore? I heard it was not made anymore but it always worked very well for me. Any other recommendations appreciated as well for Lake O. I dont want anything over 20 lb. test either. Thanks much. BP

Maybe it's me but every time I use a jet diver (to 40 feet) for trout and salmon, they never work. Does anyone here have any luck with these things? I have tried different depth models and different colors but they just never work. Anyone?.

I am trying to rig 2 big jon electric downriggers on my boat. They recommend a buss bar between battery and riggers, Is a buss bar a fuse also or do I need a fuse in addition to it.? They never said I needed both, What is the purpose of a buss bar or is it just for convenience? Im just wondering if there is any type of fuse built in it. The other thing is nobody local has them. Ive tried every autoparts store, gander, and marina and nobody carries them. I guess I will have to order online. Thanks.

Went there on Friday. It was dismal compared to years past. Got maybe a dozen. The fish just didnt seem to be around. The guy at the bait shop said the ice season was the worst ever for perch. Im wondering if it is too early or water too cold 43 or what the heck happened. Maybe it was me. Has anyone done anything with perch this spring? (there was 2 whole boats fishing for them on Friday, that tells me something). Maybe its too early.?? Any good reports from I bay?

Was wondering if the launch is open and if there is enough open water to perch fish? Or is it still half covered with ice? Thanks BP

Niagara R. mud vs night fishing question
BP Swing posted a topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Went to the Niagara today, gorgeous November day, full moon, falling barometer, nice temps, thought all the stars were aligned except I was worried about the water clarity. I was right vis was 6", 9" at best. No surprise after all the small craft advisories lately. Looked like chocolate milk, literally. Needless to say no hits today or rarely ever with the vis that bad. Now the question I have. Why do muskies hit at night but not when its mud? If they are relying on vibration at night then it shouldnt matter in the mud....right? wrong. It leads me to believe that maybe it is actually their night vision that makes them hit at night like a walleye and not so much the vibration. Then again just when you think you have everything figured out its back to square one. Thats fishin. Has anyone here ever done well in the mud with less than 1 foot vis? -

My 2 cents. Been fishing avidly over 50 years and about 30 years on Seneca mostly in spring. I have told others that Seneca Perch fishing is the toughest fishing I do all year and that includes Musky fishing into December. Those Perch are a breed of their own, so wary and so spooky. I dont know of any other fish anywhere as spooky. Ive had my 100+ fish days and also got skunked many times. It really is hit or miss no matter who you are. I dont use anything over 2 lb test now since the water is so clear, long anchor ropes help too. Ultra quiet is a must and yes I have had other boats ruin my spots several times coming closer than a cast. It makes fishing Ibay like fishing in a swimming pool. Totally different breed, much easier. It kills me to hear of guys abusing the fishery by filling coolers up. The DEC is trying to ban the market fishing concept but was getting resistance from the North Country poachers so they caved. No surprise there. I go as far as releasing the little ones and dont keep anything under 10 inches or so. Long live Seneca.

Niagara River Musky Guide Recommendations?
BP Swing replied to Jammer's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Dude, It's a no brainer. Larry is the man on the river or harbor. No one person has helped more musky fisherman in this area and he knows his stuff. Go for it. BP -
Just trying to get a feel if the smallmouth are bouncing back any? Anybody getting any at all in the lake near Wautoma, Sandy or Braddocks? Any signs of hope or is the collapse total? I have tried a few times without much luck this year. I used to pound them but its like fishing in a bath tub now. Im not buying into the gobie theory as St lawrence, Erie, St Clair all have them and the fishing is great there. Unless there are small ones present, the future looks bleak in this area of the lake.
