You are correct Gill T, but from my understanding, all of our "little ones" have distinctive fin clips depending upon which area our club stocked them and they have been moving around already - was curious if this was one of the movers.

What creek did the BT come from???? Were any of its fins clipped? We have been stocking them on the PA shore in the last couple of years and that relatively young one could be one of ours...

We often go over Memorial Day weekend and depending upon how "far along" spring is, fishing can be fantastic. Last year Memorial Day weekend was a little late, but the previous year was a Saturday with 40 something hook ups and Sunday about 20. We fish the bar to Wilson typically during this time.

We in PA are keeping all our fingers and toes crossed for NY. Our club in Erie, PA will have a LOT more firepower to pursue this very same issue with the PFBC if you guys pass it. Come on NY! If I have to pay $70 to fish there, at least let me run 3 lines / man!

The mini-mature we caught did NOT have the adipose intact. It was a stocked fish. That's pretty much what ours looked like RodBuster - definitely dark

Reset that rigger and it fires again, not five minutes later. Hmmm - could be a great morning! That rigger shot resulted in a DEEP hooked 20# Buck that would do nothing but make me do circles as he was bound and determined to get into everything on the port side. After 2 1/2 360s he came to the net. Got a little too far east and bumped into warmer water and kept dropping everything to get back into temp when the starboard wire fires and the rip is on. A nice battle with the broadest buck I have ever seen finally yields a high 23# buck that if it were about 8" longer would have definitely been 30#. Nice fish, very nice fight. Nothing moved for the next 45 mins or so, so we picked and made a tedious, run against the waves and current back to the Canadian line. Reset and about 45 minutes in fired the same starboard wire again with what appeared to be a shaker. After it was brought to net we found a 6# fully mature? 'nookie. What's wrong with him? We all caught a fish, the waves were building and we decided to pack it in and head for PA. First trip we ever really got screwed by the weather on the O, disappointing, especially in a year with so many good fish around.

Anybody have any ideas for fishing the west end in the forecasted HEAVY SW winds? Staying at Olcott, but not sure if we will even be able to beat on the pier heads with winds that heavy. Anything like IBAY way or something similar to fish stagers in a protected bay?

Tangler... You sure a wire at 1.5 at 325 won't get you to 100? 155 on wire gets me in the mid 50s, 185 around 70, etc... I'm pretty sure I get 100 or a little over at about 240 on a 1. Never tested it and its beyond the scope of the Troller's Bibles I've seen for reference, so I'd love to hear any testing results you have.

What's wrong with just a good old fashioned meat hook? Don't be afraid, reach up under there and grab a hold of some lower jaw cartilage. I think that's half the fun of Kings - there's something to get a hold of!

Depends on the season... Spring, I like water as cold as 39. Good dense water and lethargic Kings will hang out there until you drop a spin doc in their face. Summer, if I can find 41 - 45, that's where I'd like to be, but fish will be in warmer water than that if there is bait around. Fall: ALL over the place. Big Kings like to stay in the 41 to 43 range until they absolutely have to, but you will also find mature Kings in various stages of the "run" and quite often can be found in water upwards of 55 to 60 degrees when staging near their natal streams.

East winds last few days I'm sure destabilized the west end. Give 'er a few days to set back up. I pounced on your report as soon as I saw Wilson just to see how bad the easterlies nuts things up

Yup! Pull dark sharks every single fall trip to Olcott on a flat lined one about 200 back, especially early in the am and late in the pm. Really like a glo frog and the flat silver for that duty

I like to lay down a layer of black electrical tape before I spool also to prevent any potential slipping and to protect the spool. I do it on my braid divers as well.
