I struck out, marked a few fish. I went west to Braddocks fished 70 to 140. Found decent marks down between 60 and 90 . Fished it for several hours with spoons. No takers on two seperate days. I really néed a Fishhawk. Going east and west was a huge difference (550rpm going east gets 1mph, the same RPM going west I got 3.2mph). No idea what was happening down 80 feet at the lure. On a north south troll my starboard rigger cable was sucked right under the boat. That down current had to be pretty strong.
I took today off, I will be out for the next 3 days Ibay to Braddocks. The thermocline was not set up for the past week or more. Marking a few fish the other day in 70 feet to 125 off Braddocks. I have been trying the jigging "thing" for about 3 years now (ever since I watched some older guy on YouTube jigging off of Sodus for lakers) and I may just need bigger jigs. I have some saltwater 1.75oz with white tails and the current really takes them East when you drop them down. I'll be out burning fuel for the next 3 days. Good luck to everyone heading out.
Do you share your jigging techniques. I have seen a few guys on YouTube and the bait end is never discussed. Do you locate fish, then start jigging or do you have "your spot". Yhanks
The next 5 days they are calling for no rain and very light winds, and 80* temps. I'll be running out of IBay, I am hoping something starts happening at the mouth of the Genny.
Thanks for the replies, I noticed 99 views and no replies yesterday afternoon. I decided to order them. I found them at Fish307 in Lake George for $9 and the clear plastic depth windows for .99 each. My order is on its way. Thanks.
My brake lever busted off on a Scotty 1116 Depthpower. I found them online for under $10. Just wondering if between Hilton and Sodus I can walk in and buy one.
Your report has put two in the box and I have only been fishing for 30min. I'm out here now in 400 and the screen it litup. I'm solo and it is a fire drill. First fish burried my 25lb scale. Thanks for the tip of going deep
What a great report. By any chance is your boat an Expedition 24? If so I took some nice photos of it back on 7/26 at 7:30pm if you PM me your email address I will forward them to you.
Great report! I would have guessed it was rough. My boat has been sending me motion alarms all day as it is rocking in the marina (Mayer's). I hope it's nice enough to get out Sat morning.
That is way out there. To get to 500 out of IBay it's 10miles and 600 is 12 miles out. I did very well out there 3 weeks ago. Then the wind and waves kicked in and made a mess of everything have not been back out since. Thank for the reply.
Nice, catches for everyone. Being out of IBay myself. How deep were you for that big boy. I did pretty good Sunday 90/150. Between the river and the IBay light.
I went out of Ibay at 6:30 last night. I did not want to run out to 500 or 600. I decided to search and told myself no rods in the water until I mark at least 1 fish. I searched for 2 hours at 4mph from 80 to 350 and back to 50. I did not mark any fish, nothing in the middle, and no lakers on the bottom. I marked one bait ball in 50' over 200. I ended up going to Hedges and jigging the pipeline. No bass, I decided to jig 50' off Shipbuilders, 2 gobies. Ended up going home and getting tacos.
