  1. Untill July they can be anywhere. Once the lake stratifies I will set the probe in 54 degree water then fish one below and one above it. While summer kings will be in that colder water the bait is usually in that 50+ degree water and feeding kings are easy to catch. I am lacking is the skill required to catch the deep cold fish so I hedge my bets on the high hungry ones. CC
  2. Perhaps Duane, Shawn, Myself and anyone else in the Point Breeze area can get some stuff together, leave it a Capt. Cove for Dennis and he can pick it all up in one trip. Tom the owner of MOONSHINE is sending some stuff to me for you. I also have a few things. CC
  3. Why couldn't you just attach a spring to the existing SS post and open the clamp adjustment all the way up? Years ago we would do the same thing with rubberbands when the clamp would brake or strip we would widdle a notch in the back fin of the diver and half hitch it to the post. Never thought of it as a reset diver but......I guess it was. CC

  10. Nick may have something there. Few of us are willing to put the time that a few, like Paul, do. But many of us would be willing to do a small part. Perhaps when something needs to be done a simple post on a board such as this with the specifics would be a good thing. For example, Volunteer needed to direct parking and traffic at Niagara pro am. Friday 5pm - 9pm, Saturday 12 pm - 4 pm and Sunday 12 pm - 5 pm. Please reply to 555-555-5555 by May 12, 2010. Another Idea would be a separate forum on LOU that would be dedicated to the Pro-Am. LOU members could monitor it for volunteering and rule changes, payouts and other information could be dispensed by the organizers quickly. Finally LOU members could take the responsibility of posting the official results quickly - like posting Saturday's standings on Saturday and then the final results on Sunday. Sponsor information could also be mentioned in the forum. Most of the constructive criticism that I'm hearing is related to information and communication. This may be a volunteer solution. CC
  11. PS. Great Captain's meeting Paul, short and sweet!!
  12. Paul, Thank you for your hard work. I respect you for taking the time to do what you do for the tourney. The 5 committes that I serve on strech my self-control to the max and I would snap like vanish attached to fireline in the spring if I mixed my release from the issues of my life with the stress. I could not do it. I am not good on decisions by committee. I always have the best idea and all the dumb people on the committies that do not agree with me get on my nerves. I am told that this is a character flaw, but it seems to me that everyone else on the committee are just too ingnorant to accept my ideas for the brillance that they are and they attach too much emotion to their own cockamaime ideas to back down from them. Just my two cents on committees. CC
  13. More important than how much the license is . . . . . . . . is where is the extra money going. Is it going back into the fishery or is it going into the general fund where it is spent on social programs??? CC
  14. Capt. Dave was a great asset in the shallow water program. Thanks guys I am counting down the days untill full time fishing -- 7 CC
  15. Orleans County Pro-Am Tournament Friday Pre-fish June 12 Headed East to the nose and set up in 80 fow on a northeast troll, marked some fish while setting up but didn’t move a rod. Continued north to 450’ where we had a nice steelhead take one of our board lines. One of my buddies on the boat made the comment that we weren’t learning much in our pre fish and I corrected him, stating that we were learning a whole lot. At 10 am we ran back toward the point and set up just west of Bald Eagle and trolled west and a bit south into 100 foot then zigzag to the west. On one south troll I decided to go into 50’ so I shortened the 375’ copper by about 75’ and moments later a fish hit it and took out the 75’ and 800’ of the backing. We had to turn the boat several times to chase the fish. After nearly 40 minutes we got the bruiser to the boat and hefted the net over the transom. No doubt the biggest fish of the year so far and weighed just over the 26 pound mark on the scale that weighs 2 – 12 pound cannon balls at 24 pounds. That fish hit the Purple Nurple moonshine the #1 in – the - sun king lure for me the past 3 years. My other team member Capt. Dave took his boat and went west to 30 mile then north to the fence and found 2 lakers and 3 under sized rainbows. We made the decision to begin Saturday in the shallows where the 55 degree water should hold browns. 16. Ok, I'll be patient.

  18. You really should ask cannon the extra cable may offset your depth counter thus hampering the ability to make your other riggers equally efficacious. Call Cannon or BillyV he can and will get the answer for you. CC
  19. I second or third Yank and Duane. My experience if the fishing is good you don't need it, when the fishing is slow it makes the difference between a 1-3 fish day and a 6-9 fish day. The X-4 is the way to go, rock solid reading and big letters you can see from anywhere on the boat. Still using the same batteries I put in on April 6, 18 - 8 hour trips (and one night left on) on them now. CC
  20. Hang in there Mark, it will be up on the Pro Am website by mid November!! You would think that if the LOC can update a leader board daily with thousands of entrants, the pro am could have it posted by the end of the first business day. They already know all the entrants they only have to add scores and put them in order. CC
  21. 'cause your cheap you may like my philosophy on twilli tips; that is – why cut a perfectly good tip off a new rod? Use it with the original tip until the wire ruins it, then put a twilli tip on it. (I have a pair of 10’ eagle claws with the original tip for 5 years now – still haven’t had to buy a new tip for it.) This is a borrowed philosophy from a cheaper fisherman than I. CC
  22. Again it depends on your purpose of the thumper if you are thumping the bottom, use the dropper. If you are running a thumper to adjust proper speed -- hook direct. Dan's thumper would not work well for speed indicating ( dropper, snubber) Rusty's or My thumper would not work well for bottom bouncing CC

  24. The past 3-5 years the radio chatter has slacked a bit with most valuable info traveling between cell phones. That said if you are fishing the Point Breeze area call me on 16 and I will talk to you on any channel you choose. CC "Salmo"
