Thanks guys I will save my money I mean copper for a new rig. I was told Penn 350 is a good choice for a reel? Of course I just bought a Penn 330 for my 10 color of lead. Do you have to get a spring tip and special guides for the rod?
nope no twilli tip or special guides needed
-
I have always used 10 colors of lead but now everyone seems to run copper. I would also like to know what benefits do you get from copper. Please someone explain the math between 10 colors of lead compare to ## of copper???
u get aprox 22ft down per 100ft of 45lb copper

pic of u guys up on stage.. congrats on a great finish

Here's a question... What if you have a 600' setup and you want to run say only 400' but off an otter boat? Can you attach the release pad to the copper?
the copper from the rod tip to the otter boat will prolly sag into the water...

Does anyone have / used one of the new Lowrance HDS units?
What is the advantage over last years HD units? Lowrance's website is more visual then informative about their new HDS units.
We are thinking about the HDS-8
the new HDS fishfinders have broadband sounder built in.. last yrs models did not.. had to buy broadband as a option.. do yourself a favor and look at the Raymarine A70 as well .. personally i cant wait to get the Lowrance i have off my boat.. either a Furuno or Raymarine will be going on soon!
