i fished last weekend out of Olcott.. picked up 5 browns in 2hrs... water was 43degrees coming out of the harbor and pure mud... east and west was 39-41degrees in the green water. im sure the water temps came up a bit since last weekend
Today was about as good as it gets on the Niagara.. LOTS of fish and lots of boats also... the first 2 drifts we did we put 7 fish in the boat! not a bad way to start the day at all.. fishing stayed hot for the first 2hrs then the boat traffic got bad and it slowed down for awhile.. moved down river to get away from the others and we had a steady pick of fish.. kwikfish, live minnows, egg sacs, and Berkley Gulp minnows all took fish today.. boated 24 fish lost some as well
braided line will collect ALOT of sea fleas when they show up.. braid is good during the early part of the season but after the fleas show up i put the braid away.. go with the wire.. wire puts fish in the boat!
as of today there is 66% ice coverage on Lake Erie still..think the ice coverage has to drop to i think 25% but not positive on that.. the boom will NOT be pulled before april 1.... it was pulled on april 10th last spring
Hammer, TG, B fly, glow hammer, pro am, glow frog, mirage, skein machine, green hammer, crinkle green.. some of my fav colors i wouldnt leave the dock without...
well here let me show u what i got going on..
this pic was taken drifting down the niagara with the main motor off
now i do have the power wire for the sonar ran to the battery, i turned on and off all things that could cause interference.. bilge, livewell, etc.. with no change to the sonar screen.. the ducer is a duel freq.. i was runnin it in the 200khz mode with a 12degree cone.. for some reason i think the 12degree cone is part of my problem in this shallow of water.. i went out to 50fow and the screen got better without really changing any settings.. but in the shallow water im pickin up alot of crap as u can see.. anyone else think its the duel freq ducer? i have a single freq ducer 20degree cone i think im gunna install to see if this helps my problem
i think im getting interference problem through my transducer cable.. i really cant route the cable any other way in the boat... what i would like to know if there is a sheilded tape that i could wrap the cable in.. or any other type of sheilded wire housing?
