  1. due to some peculiar irregularities the solution can't be translated ....... it's all bedboils what you are measuring is water speed not boat vs balls [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  2. And then.....there is the law of averages at the end of the fishing day....did the ball, boat, and you end up at the dock at the same time... When the warehouse foreman says I'm late.....I say "no I'm not" , "i arrived 70 feet ahead of the load".....DUH [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  3. TA DAAAA...... part of equation missing. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  4. Strange days.....hmmm, Mrs deer probably was looking for the daddy of her youngins she was about to hatch. What was Mick doin last deer season ? better check the cabin for babies. Rogue wave, huh...weird. Nice brown ya got there. I'll be around on the 9th or so, but seeing how the tourny is goin on at the Oak that weekend, I guess I'll play elsewhere. Again still holding the steering wheel.... Ray, can I get in business with you? Maybe a salesman? I think I could find folks dying for your product, bet I could dig up a few good customers.....whatdayasay? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  6. Double click on the image and get a big picture,,, then hold shift and R to get clear image, pardon my hieroglyphics I just been living under a rock for awhile. This is my setup for a MUP rig. works well when solo.... is a bit of extra work but is worth the extra effort. MOST IMPORTANT THOUGH......you must make sure the hooks are very very sharp. first strikes are a bit of a delay in the line coming taught to get a good hookup and be quick on the grab of the rod and do a hook set as well. Good Luck. Mark
  7. Very nice report again Rick ... always look forward to reading those posts...uhhhhh well guess it has to be on the "to be continued" next ...hmmm... after tournament time. Good luck Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. I don't think you want to run flasher fly combos together with sliders on the same line. A spinning flasher or S/D will give you a twirled mess when the slider goes down to the flasher on a retrieve. I like to run what is referred to as the "MUP" rig. Gives you four lures in the water on two riggers. Choose a Target spoon like a NK28 to run off the ball, and a fixed cheater above the target spoon about 10 ft above it running ahead with a larger mag spoon that is a little more flashy than the target but same color hue. Let your target lead out about 20 to 25 ft off the ball and the fixed cheater leader be about the length of your rod, 8 to 10 ft. Running 10 ft above the ball. Lower the ball to the column of water that is holding bait or just above the thermocline whichever is easier to determine. One of my favorites for the cheater is a big doctor spoon, silver, the chartreuse five of diamonds for steelhead, or the new walleye color (brown with gold cup). The doctor is a very forgiving lure for speed variations and has a really wide wobble that gets the fishes attention, which is what the job of the big lure is, and quite often it becomes the target lure, especially for steelhead that happen to be deeper near the thermocline. The idea is as an attractor it pulls fish in to investigate a large bait and sometimes the large bait gets hit and sometimes the target spoon below and after it gets the second look as the fish drops back and down, and since smaller it usually will get the hit. Fix the cheater with a rubber band half hitched to your rigger cable and clip the cheater leader swivel to the rubber band loop AND the main line from your rod. This keeps the cheater leader in a fixed position until a fish hits it. Just remember when bringing in the rig, the rubber band is on the cable and will have to be broken.... or retrieved as the rigger is raised. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. Try these sites http://www.fish307.com/browseproducts/Index43.html http://www.bigtackle.com/ProFlo-Fishing ... P1319.aspx Still my favorites for very clear water conditions. those big plastic eyes are irresistable to the steelhead especially. This year the first king on Mick's boat came on the 4 inch pretty jane trolled behind a Mack's Flashlight rig on the rigger 15 seconds and it was off and running. Mark PS....Sharon at Narby's can get them and might be able to ship them....not sure but give her a call http://www.narbys.com/
  10. I would deep six it. There's an advantage to catching and cleaning your own fish....you get to see the health of the water and the fish, unlike a fillets O fish from Korea or China..."uh sir, dockforeman?" how long was that frozen fish out here on the dock?" " Aww, don't worry, That's alright it will refreeze in the reefer on the way to the store".......behind the scenes too often in 35 years, I guess Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  11. Good job Tim, been a tough early season so the sucking part was the fishing and now hopefully the humbling will give way to more confidence building fishing. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  12. Nice catch there young man ..great pics Rob. WTG men! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  13. Ray's " TOOL " is what keeps everyone's attention to his presence in buffy mode. Don't get near the hairy guy with the blow up dolls. Most skippers would crash their boats on the rocks to avoid permanent eye damage. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  14. Way to go Bob is that Delta?...was thinkin Canadarago, but probably not with a northern in the mix. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  15. taste of freedom..but i might borrow my friends sailboat.........as if buffy fishing wasn't enough Went from making the wind (ppphhhttttt) to being the wind. Ray, sale botes are takin up to much of yer thinkin lately.....now what's that all about? Nice pics and report Mark, good luck in the tourney! Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  16. Rick, that report is energizing!..great pics of the kids and their fun. Thanks for sharing your successful voyage offshore! Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  18. Sounding like it might have a little moisture inside it. Try taking it inside a dry place and put gentle breeze of warm air on it...maybe?...had a raytheon that had weird stuff go on and that helped. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  19. http://www.ask8ball.net/ My crystal ball of future fortune....dumb thing is still giving me bad advice...asked it if I was gonna catch a winning derby fish and it said "my sources say no"...figured this thing would have been long gone by now. Nope still around since 1950, now somebody is living the good life somewhere on a gadget that gives bad advice....what's wrong with this picture. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  20. I'm sure that was as good as it could be for the choice on a backup plan. Glad to see you got into some nice fish after a long trip. Those Atlantic are a great bonus. Nice pics, thanks Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  21. Ray is absolutly right about saving for the "golden" years as a young American. I wasn't nearly as frugal as I should have been and looking back I can say I had a great time in my 20's and 30's with plenty of money to spare and used my energy to the max enjoying it too (if only I had the crystal ball to look into the future). Today, in some things it is ten times harder to enjoy that same lifestyle of go anywhere do anything we want from the 70's era. "FRUSTRATING" Who would have thought that the vehicles we drive today would equal the price of a home in the 70's, or the price of the gas to go in it would be 10 times higher today from the 70's. Gotta wonder what it will be like 30 to 40 years from now. Keep the save attitude close to heart young Americans. Temptation, instant gratitude, credit cards, and stress debt, walk hand in hand. Golden years should have no stress and a clear path to enjoying life without the evil daily grind of HAVING to work all the time. Trust me, the crystal ball did not speak loud enough to me (well maybe it was the 8 ball of answers like "Signs point to yes" or "Ask again tomorrow") ,,,,uh oh dated myself there.... ,,,that got me to procrastinate on life goals (never minded work) of "not having" to work someday (now I wish I didn't have to work anymore). Now it is hurry up....time feels a quicker step today and anxiety is showing up ...The song by Alabama comes to mind....."I'm in a hurry" "I'm in a hurry to get things done Oh, I rush and rush until life's no fun All I really gotta do is live and die But, I'm in a hurry and don't know why" Ray and his wife has done it right to be able to enjoy the rest of an "early" golden time. Good job Ray, you do what I wish I could do right now,.....the old saying "he who dies with the most toys wins" .....well.....really all he does is just DIES ...a great inspiration to see the results of a plan come to fruition...NOW I WISH I WAS 25 AGAIN ....thanks Ray, now if ya have sold all yer downriggers and dipsey divers, yer always welcome to come on up to "Lyntucky" and help this poor old truck driver out with some gas money, show me all yer hot spots, and I'll send ya home with some more sore arms (from fishin) not diggin the outhouse pit deeper and hooking well water up ...OK? I even got a spare room fer ya, if ya promise not ta run around buffy. Mark
  22. Scotty cable pinchers are cats azzz Just don't forget to stop the rigger if its powered or it'll put a hurt on the cable....it slides down but It's not cool. Put a stop bead on the cable above it so that doesn't happen. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  23. Well, a year and a half later, what did we find out?....are the wings of the Pegasus clipped?....can it only fly east and "still" fish the Hudson with angle worms?....are the trolling for drag ripping kings in Lake O over?...anybody know? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  24. I like to run two riggers and throw on some fixed or sliding cheaters to be able to put four baits down. Spoons are the choice for that setup, and that will be simple. If you use flashers and flies I would use that on one rigger and no cheater and the other rigger would be spoons cheated for three baits down. Any flasher or spin doctor would be best by itself on a rigger not cheated as you can imagine a spinning attracter and a cheater coming together for a huge snafu. You could run the flasher and fly combo out on a dipsy and still run one rigger cheated too. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  25. Positive cable from first battery goes to post #1 on the switch Positive cable from second battery goes to post #2 on the switch Starter cable from engine goes to COM (common) post on battery switch NO negative cables connect to the switch, they are bolted to the engine. Both batteries negatives are tied together with heavy jumper. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
