  1. Hey, that's cool Tom, new fishing paL. :hoooray [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  2. Transition in June more applies to the points east of olcott. The ports like point breeze are coming into transition then. The bar east to Wilson will be favorable in June. Another good weather station is the fixed monitor at olcott pier. West southwest is best. Also don't rely on wave forecasts on an east wind at the bar. Last Tuesday wave forecast.... 2 feet or less....actual at midday 3 to 6. Wind at 15 to 20 knots northeast. Yes, let the color set up with the west winds and calmer seas. 3. I would definitely wait. The east wind Sucks over there on the bar. Plus the river is loaded with bait right now. When the bait comes back out to the lake and the wind blows more favorably from the west the bait will spread slowly east and hang out on the bar for a good while. The kings will follow. Best time for me has been last week of May to beginning of June there. Depends a lot on the weather, wind most importantly. Like Vince said it is rough there with the east wind. Even if the vessel is good in the rough stuff it is difficult to troll the way you want to. You get breaking waves on top of big rollers and It's kind of a washing machine out there. 4. Nice fish Ray, and substance on the flips.....I'm not so sure. I saw the previous bathing beauties on the rocks there. Unless.....nah....Was Ursula there? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  5. Man....thought it was just me when I was out Tuesday. The bar was giving me a skunk and the east wind had everything mixed up with six footers. Three hours and a 1.5 mile troll west then back east and a loop in shallow to out deep and had one knockoff at the red can. Must be a whole posse of skunks out there still. 7. No wonder the water is taking so long to warm up this year...and the fish taste better too. Good job Ray, keep up the good fortitude...we love you man!... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. When Ray speaks about HIS wet suit ......he means his birthday suit and he is wet. All the hair resembles a weed bed like sargassum and attracts fish like dorado or in the gulf....dolphin. that's what he means about buffy fishing. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. TIM, Friday was a tough day at the Oak as well, no pepe but a lot of slow boat ride. Tried a king and Laker setup west of port in morning and got one coho. Afternoon to the east of port and went a long way with the screen looking like we were at the drive-in in the middle of January. Finnaly after trolling for a couple hours with seven rods out all rigged with Laker stuff, 120 fow we ran through a pod of lakers out from the flats and five rods went off. One fish made it in the boat, one dropped at the back and the others were knockoffs nobody home....that was it ...really slow last Friday. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  12. If I was to have only one copper rig, it would have as much copper as possible on it up to 600 feet if it will fit your choice of reel. Then I would run it in the chute at any length of deployment I want. A big line counter reel would be the best choice but you can count passes of the line guide on a non counter. This way if you want to run 20 feet down you let out only 100 feet or if you want to run 60 feet down you pay out 300 feet etc etc up to 600 feet out for near 120 feet down. It's all approximate considering speed , lure drag, current and other factors, but for a single copper rig , having enough to run any depth down the chute is my choice. Once you get other copper you can go with shorter length and more backing and use them on boards or outriggers with releases hooked to the backing for preferred depth. Leader would be 20 feet or more of flourocarbon to match the copper test. Backing would be 50 lb. braid anchored securely to the spool arbor for no slip. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  23. I might add that the new diesel, even though they get good mileage, the price of diesel is way higher than gasoline which is a wash in savings. Diesel engines are expensive options in a new vehicle. Also, what a lot of folks don't realize, is there is this new " feel good" fluid that you will have to buy and blow out the exhaust to clean the exhaust. DEF....diesel exhaust fluid. Also called "urea" which is a combination of water and anhydrous ammonia. It adds nothing to the power and burns off in the exhaust as a percentage of the fuel burned by the vehicle. The bad part is finding it everywhere right now and it costs nearly as much as diesel per gallon. Even though you don't put in at every fill up it is still added expense to the operation. This is the reason I am not buying a new class 8 truck right now. It's an added nuisance to put this stuff in a separate tank and find the fluid along with the expense. if you let it run out ....prepare to pull off the highway because it will derate the engine and you will not be able to pull. 24. 2008 F 250...V10...415 cubic inches....365 HP.... Tow 6000 lb. Dual axle with center console t top. Pulls like an ox...eats like one too....8.5 Mpg. (.5 Mpg matters under 10) ....don't get this unless you want efficiency in speed.....uphill.....against the wind. But yes the Eco boost 6 banger twin turbo is very impressive....10,500 lb tow rating for the f 150. Mark [ Post made via Mobile Device ] [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
