  1. Looks like a fish that was on it's LAST spawn run as well.....nice catch and yes the one over 21 is a good rule. Since these fish return to spawn several times during their life cycle it is a very wise conservation decision. They do have a very strong presence in the off shore waters of Lake O and it is in cooperation of the DEC and pen rearing projects along with conscientious anglers in the handling of their catch and return to the stream. Mark
  2. Atta boy Stan!!!! Keep them coming for more Mark
  3. Mike, just remember when you are saying the vows at the alter...that part about "until death do us part".....you might not realize it now but you could be setting yourself a goal. Hope it's all good for ya...gulp!!!!! congrats to you both Mark
  4. Wonder what "not comfortable" means in that respect. That if it gets the go ahead then he might not be comfortable around the sportsmen? ....or not comfortable with the big money talkers if it doesn't go ahead. I wish these guys we vote for would be more specific, and not just send back a generic letter in response to every ones concern. A nice honest answer or comment would be more like yes or no with an adverb of description like somewhat or extremely or not at all in favor of... or in the favor of something. I like George and I hope he is on our side (his track record is) but just a little more enthusiasm would be more comfortable for us. Mark
  5. Happy birthday Tom, bake yerself a cake and decorate it with gummy fish.... Mark

  8. Stupid MORONS They the DEC, can issue permits to rape the island pollute the water and kill BALD EAGLES?......WHY CAN'T THEY GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR ALIMENTARY CANAL EXIT HOLES!!!!!!!! and to think we would be put in jail for doing these things...heaven forbid we should shoot cormorants....IDIOTS!!! Mark good bye to all in offices who support this travesty.....donald duck, yogi bear, boo boo, and snaglepuss, and tweety, and sylvester and bugs bunny.....will probably cast votes too, I'll put ballots in for them
  9. Heck, I went on a honeymoon one time based on where the fishing was best at that time of year...It's ok ..perfectly normal...multitask...multiuse...multithink...QUANTIFY LIFE Mark
  10. And there's the..."Which hole in the nose of the spin doctor does the main line leader go in" and the "which hole in the tail of the spin doctor does the fly leader go in" I say any of them if it catches the fish...trial and error for a specific day and species, not just limited to leader length, but a lot of things in combination. I just think like the fish and ask myself does this action and color and speed look enticing to me? Lots of times I run more than 1 spiny or flasher and set them for different spin rates and frequency at a given speed, and adust the leader length for each to act differently and see which is the hot combo. I'm not quite so critical of the exact length of the fly leader as long as it is in the pre-described length range recommended to start with. Mark
  11. Happy Birthday Brian Mark
  12. I'm sure that since NY is not listed as one of the states pushing for the constitutional legal issues of the recent passing of the senate health law, requiring everyone to buy health insurance or face penalties levied by the IRS, that some secret deal made for NY to get some of the leftover stimulus (bribe) money (our money taken) has caused our illustrious governor to lend a deaf ear as well as a blind eye (or two) to lawyer a defeat of said legislature that bastardizes our constitution. This may be our only way of keeping the parks open, by using the bribe stimulus money to keep NYS government from being totally dis-functional. Now if they will use it wisely is the next question. 19. Let's see...hmmmm ...soluble capsules.....some avian exterminating agent ....uhhhh maybe avian cholera bio extract..AW CRAP,. too hard to get...let's see, what else..I KNOW ...crushed Alka Seltzer tablets. Load the capsules with the alka seltzer and stuff then into some gobies ...deploy near cormorants and then the birds eat the capsules and can't pass gas....BOOM they blow up. "gee wizz, I don't know...they were flying away and like went pop..kinda like spontaneous explosion er somthin"
  20. We already have green energy in Erie/Niagara and it does not benefit western NY it is all channeled to NYC. I know of no one who is in favor of wind mills offshore on the Niagara bar. The proximity of the ship lanes from Welland are too close and would be in such shifting bottom structure and ice flow that it would be only in an idiots mind too even think of it there. Kessel is wasting his time. Might as well save his breath for wind in some other place (LI sound). Mark
  21. sign of the times...economy sucks and no one has the capital to stock stuff and the manufacturers are all trying to do their business with fewer employees..it's gonna get worse. I got the same trouble Mark
  22. Maybe without salt in the NYC peoples diet, they will become more complacent and won't get high blood pressure strokes when the windmills are set in Long Island sound offshore where they belong Mark "When it rains it pours" Morton will need to get in on this one, millions of people not eating salt OMG
  23. Saw Beck's report. Just like the story and subsequent thread posted......very disturbing Mark
  24. You probably can get or make a planner board setup a little cheaper than outriggers and easier to install. I've got both and some days when it is too rough to run the boards, the outriggers are a better choice for that day. A lot of times I fish alone and the riggers are easier to run. One line off each 15 footer and then longline or run dipsey depending on the type of fish and time of year. You can also impart a lot of speed changes to your offerings with riggers by weaving back and forth, thereby speeding up on one side and slowing down on the other. I like to do that when fishing early browns near shore with longline stickbait or goby fly offerings and see what speed is the ticket. One more advantage to riggers is the ability like Capt Vince mentioned is the tight turning ability and also less "things" in the water to manage when a fish is on or in heavy traffic. You can stop forward progress and not have to worry about the boards drifting free on slack line, a plus when you hook bottom fishing shallow browns. Fishing alone, you can immediately stop after bringing in your other rigger line and then turn around and retrieve the stuck lure without having to bring in the big boards. In all respects they are both very effective and have their advantages in every case. The boards let you run multiple lines, and the riggers shine in simplicity of deployment. The boards are effected by choppy waves , the riggers are not, boards can get you shallower when the browns are in 3 feet of water near shore and keep the boat in deeper water with less disturbance.
