  1. Not sure what outdrive is on it but some have a safety switch on the lower shift cable. Check the adjustment, or maybe you need a new shift cable. Does it seem to just shut the ignition down, like turning the ignition off when shifting, or does the engine blubber and then slowly stall out on the shift. If it blubbers and quits and you always have to pump the throttle, you might have an intake vacuum leak somewhere below the carb. Make sure there are good vacuum hoses attached to the carb and PCV. Once it is running, if you can spray a short blast of ether around the intake manifold to head junctions and around the carb base to manifold area, see if the engine revs up when you spray the ether. Make sure the ether does not get to the carburetor throat, or it will false alarm the test. If the engine temporarily revs, there is a vacuum leak at a gasket. Try tightening the bolts. A vacuum guage attached should read around 17- 20 inches vacuum on an unmodified 350. Could be a number of things, but start with that and then go to ignition. Ignition timing is directly related to intake vacuum as well so if you can check the timing it would be an easy fix if all you need to do is advance the timing a bit, but beware of too much advance, especially with this junk gas we get from the gas stations with ethanol in it. Hope this helps Mark
  2. I'll go there and try my new trolling technique. Wire line with a section of cable saw wire. After they get keel hauled, cross their bow on a hard turn to wrap it and gun the throttle. salvage the keel for downrigger weights
  3. New servo came today...no shipping charges...air mail...NO CHARGE! If anyone needs a remote throttle device, this is it and what a great company, did I already say that? the service at this company is outstanding Mark
  4. very nice, would like to try hemlock with the little 14 footer and manual riggers. What depth the lakers come from in that lake. Mark
  5. Heavy copper wire 45lb and dipsey is the deepest you will get the dipsey to go by it's self. needs a stout rod and a penn international reel with a two speed retrieve LOW LOW and DEEP REDUCTION, kinda like a Mack 4x5. and two men and a boy to hold it. Seriously though if you want a dipsey in the program rig it as adown and out off your Rigger wire 20 or 30 feet above the ball and set it to plane outside on a 2.5 or 3 setting. Now you can use a smaller dipsey and the rigger ball and wire will carry it down there on a release set just strong enough to hold the dipsey line. As far as releases goes for that. there are some choices. Somebody will have the best one as I have not found one for the task yet. Jerry (RUNNIN REB) probably can give a good answer on this, and then we will both know Mark
  6. Just use downriggers Stan, if you ask about putting a one pound weight on with the dipsy this is what you'll get viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6861&hilit=+dipsey Now Ray has probably done this and keeps it a secret. I'm not sure which, either Marcella or Ursula are sometimes known to be a bobber for the set up.
  7. Jeremy, I have the newer towerpro servo with mine but it still failed, so I guess it must have a problem too. I hope the new one solves the problem. I'm waiting for the snail mail to deliver it and see the result of the new one. Mark
  8. Good job Stan You're gonna put a hurtin on the fish now!
  9. I just had the pleasant experience of speaking with Bill at the company based in Utah. I had a problem with the remote trolling model I had purchased from cabelas and I sent an e-mail to them and asked for some technical help. The next day I had an e-mail response to call Bill at the company Topline Control, to give him a call. 2 rings and an answer (human) and I asked for Bill. 10 seconds later Bill is on and asked what was wrong with the unit, I explained that the control box lights up and no throttle movement at the servo. He asked "when did you install it" and I told him last July. He responded with "it's the servo" and wanted to know which model servo it was. I told him, and without even wanting a receipt or proof of purchase, he put me back on the line with the nice lady that answered first, and took my name and address and said a new one is on it's way in the mail today! WOW....I'm impressed, This whole phone call was 3 minutes and I got a new servo coming today. NO CHARGE, maybe shipping but that wasn't mentioned. Thank you Bill and Topline Control 866-228-7655 Mark
  10. Napa had the crossover #808 Champion plug....(Hecho en Mehico)...AYE CORONA! I hope they don't siesta on me
  11. Looks good. wonder how it wiggles like that with no lip? Like the colors. might try it Mark
  12. Thanks guys, Ray I'm not sure about the lawn mower plugs, I got some fer mine but their eyes went crossed when they couldn't poop no more. On a more intelligent note, I found the plugs at RAS marine service in Spencerport on rte 104. Lake Breeze Marina said they will have them in stock soon. The HSA at the end of the # is for cold climates. standard plugs are without the "A". Wish we had an Advance Auto store here....but prolly the store would take too many megawatts to run here since all the hydropower can't get here without the copper wirin in Lyntucky
  13. they sure like that feed, wonder if that would work for chum 4 years from now Oh wait Ray spends alot of time in the dog house. Prolly catch him followin every troller in the lake lookin for kibbles and bits too
  14. Here come the Babies! Great turnout from the volunteers and LOTSA members to help the little fellas get a good start into their lives in the big "O". They will be in the river until their "smolt" process has occurred and the imprint of the tributary waters has been established. The credits at the end of the video was suppose to have one other honorable mention and it was omitted during the publishing. I wish to give that mention to the DEC crew and all their help and cooperation in this project. Thank you everyone involved, for making this fishery one of the best in the world Mark
  15. Swapped spark plugs. good plug in the dead cylinder It fired on the same cylinder that was dead....same wire from the coil pack. tried the spark plug from the dead cylinder in the cylinder that was running with the wire for that cylinder and it would not fire. I guess The spark plug has a problem. Now to find some NGK CR6HSA....maybe auto zone or NAPA. The coil is a single unit with two wires, and they both fire with the one plug, but not with the other....plugs gotta be it. Mark
  16. It's uploaded, now just waiting for the processing to complete so hopefully we can see it in HD quality. As soon as it finishes it's process I'll imbed it and also put the link to the video up so everyone can see it in FULL screen as well. Check back to videos soon! Mark
  17. Was trolling when the engine began running on one cylinder. Checked the plugs and found the bottom cylinder was the one misfiring. pushed a screwdriver into the wire at the spark plug end set near ground source...NO spark, while engine running strong on the other cylinder. I suspect the coil. It is a single unit with two spark plug wires leading out of it. The wires are part of the coil itself and cannot be removed. Checked the flywheel magnets and pickup, and all seems fine there. Anything I may be overlooking? Hate the thought of buying a new coil for 100 bucks and find out that wasn't the problem incase i'm overlooking something. Thanks in advance Mark
  18. hmmmm.....so that's where they learn to pilot their sale botes around fishermen. Instructor must have been one of those drinkers looking for some junk to sell for a three sheets to the wind rally.
  19. great Video....and narration...beautiful job Mark
  20. Ya better learn to holster that weapon Pete. UH OH... Guess Pete still using LIVE ammunition....No blanks Pete?...congrates on the new arrival....two more rods in your retirement fund Mark
  21. Cool Stan!....Thanks! I especially like the tehachapi train pass with the loop. Been there! on old 58...and in the snow too! Mark
  22. Just wanted to let everyone know, I have a nice edited video of the delivery of the baby salmon and steelhead. I can post it under videos thread if any body is interested. I will upload to youtube, and imbed it on the forum, if everyone involved with the activities is ok with that. Let me know on this post if there are any concerns or suggestions. The video is 10 minutes long and shows the dedication to the fishery through volunteers and members of the LOTSA organization. My sincere thanks to all who are involved! Keep up the great work, and we will all benefit from a fishery that can not be duplicated anywhere else in the world Mark
  23. You got ahold of the wrong hoby bag Ray....stay outta your wife's stuff. yours is the one with stickers and beads, rings and feathers, eyes, and skirts....hmmmm starting to sound about the same. Knit me some flies will ya Ray?
