  1. I'm always there, Point Breeze, when home. I'll be fishing that weekend if you need some info. Just send me a PM. Plenty of offshore fishing will likely go on for a while this year.
  2. Yes! Wish we still did it! Was a good time for all. Now if we could get Hank to leave us some chocolate pudding at the buffet...
  3. Hank is standing next to me telling Bob "Ya know...i think there's something heavy on my left foot..." Yeah the giant guy next to him set his new Bass Pro battery down right on his foot...what an oaf!:blink:
  4. Me neither..I'm a small giant..6.4 and 302..with nothing in my pockets including navel lint!^_^
  5. Thanks for the details! Been considering a week up there sometime. Sounds relaxing!
  6. Probably a good reason why you should never eat any thing that came from it!...it does look kinda like a truckstop dumper:o..green scum and brown stains...should get the tidy bowl man in there with his boat. I can see him now...miniature downriggers trying for that king!
  7. On one hand I agree, especially when it is a salmon that can grow potentially 800% larger in its second year. On the other hand if the size were raised to that of an Atlantic salmon, 25 inches, I'm sure it would lead to way more mortally wounded kings being discarded in favor of getting a ticket for undersized fish. Those fish would be better on the grill. A 15 inch salmon has a nice fillet and is very palletable. I think it's about right. Michigan let's ya have a 10 inch salmon. A little skimpy for a meal.
  8. Thanks Les for the review! Rain inflation can't be good for ya! I'll look at those you have next time to bellas. Long as they can float giants!
  9. Second battery is not a necessity BUT..it's piece of mind. I always run one deep cycle 24 series battery for everything, and it doesn't get charged by my kicker. However the second battery is there to start the big motor in a pinch. Three scotties, separate navigation and sounders, fish hawk, vhf, positive ion box, wash down pump for hours running without issue. That said, I always make sure the batteries are fully charged before heading out on next trip. Also the as mentioned piece of mind second battery and switch are always there in case battery failure happens. I'd find a way for your second battery just so you feel better. You obviously have concern by asking about it. Do your best to ease your mind and enjoy the day of fishing without worrying about getting in a tough situation. Have a carry on battery group 24 deep cycle as much amp hour reserve as you can get. Put a couple plug leads on the terminals so you can hook up your specific electronic equipment to it. Even of its not mounted, it's better than none. Secure it with a buckle strap to the deck someplace. Bungee cords are not enough when pounding waves. Good luck with it. Hope this helps. Mark
  10. Les, is that PFD you have on an inflatable? I see it's cabela's. Looks like a comfortable fit.
  11. You are the man Les! Those young fellows will definitely want to go again by their enthusiastic faces! Very nice of you to take them out and have a fun day learning and experiencing the outdoors!
  12. You can take his picture like this..Brian;)..while he is swimming around in the live well.
  13. Great info Vince! If it's wounded badly, which happens a lot with these little ones under 20 inches, because they are just so voracious about a meal. Quite often engulfing a fly and injuring delicate gils. If that happens...box it if over 15 inches. Don't throw it back to become seagull food. Yup..you'll loose 1 chance for a mature, but its good eating and ethical. The rest can be revived by the boat or in a live well circulation. Even a cooler with some water and maybe a little ice with it. Take his picture, change his diaper and send him home!
  14. I counted 24 fish on that screen shot!...that's wild. How fast is the screen update?
  15. Shoot!...problems problems. ..yeah now I think of it. Probably gotta get permits and open a new landfill. Ick!:blink:
  16. Should we have a lake wide goby tournament that spans 3 months? Payouts based on daily weight. Suki rigs up to 50 hook points? .....nah that would sink the boat with stinking gobies ...maybe 45 hooks. Ok I'm gonna go eat my freshly popped corn now..
  17. Brown trout and lake trout are eating them....by the 10s of thousands and fat. The gobies that is. The trash cans are for seaweed. I know you can't leave a bait on the bottom for a second and you have gobi slaughter. I think all the charter captains are aware of the invasive creatures. And yes it is a major problem that has decimated the perch and bass and walleye and northern pike spawning grounds. At least they have an enemy in the trout and their voracious appetite for the little froggy fish.
  18. Wow! This was really "dredged" up....hey one spring fishing for perch, my buddy Mick fought a carp in Cranberry Pond for about an hour and a half on 6lb monofilament. While he was doing that a car pulled up and watched patiently to see Mick land the monster. As I help him get the fish on shore and snap his pic, the guy in the car comes out and stands there. Obviously non American. He says "Whatchu doo wid fish?"...ahhh ok, has Ukrainian accent...I said you want this? Then a big smile comes on his face. I suppose he fed his family on it....this carp that came from Cranberry Pond.
  19. Nope! But the floss jams up in between teeth, and I can't pull it through! Actually the fleas were all gone this past weekend where I was. Yippee!
  20. Nice "fin ally" men! Like that second shot..Andy with his game face on! And you look "hot" in the fish pose!
  21. Owned a brand new 1987 1903 model 19 ft CC. It was 10,000 dollars new. Boat 125 force and trailer. Cheap enough but that means cheap. The force was a nuisance with idle problems and fussy for tune. No oil injection. It was a four cylinder with two carbs. The 150 is five cylinders with 3 carbs. Not very powerful charging system for electronics. The boat was a take off of the bow rider Capri model and therefore had little freeboard forward and waves of 3 feet would regularly flow over the bow into the cockpit at troll speed. The hull design is not too bad with 19 degree dead rise but it wandered terribly at low speeds. Not a tournament caliber boat on Lake O. Not sure where you would use it though. Mechanically the motor was not bad but it is a orphan. No one really supplying it for power anymore. Mark
  22. Not water but some sort of discoloration in a small area of the screen just appeared out of nowhere. Kinda yellow looking on the inside of the cover. Weird. Mine is on the back of the boat. Pretty exposed to elements. I did make a zip lock with holes to fit the plugs just for extra insurance.
  23. You might have to switch to a pinch pad release with a 18 inch lead hooked to the tail of the toroedo. I have no issues with that on the same Troutman Harvey weight and X4. Scotty rigger dropping pretty quick! Mark
