It was a wicked storm..I was in it at Point Breeze! I went out at about 11 am set up in 200 and fished north west to the 27.5 lines and continued west the surface was 62 degrees every where and 25 feet down was 46..no thermocline just cold abruptly there. Colder going down. The wind on the lake for the first 3 hours was directly out of the northeast then out of the north. A change in direction to Southwest then south..then the lake became a washing machine with cross chop. Storm came up from the west we ran for port. Wind changed again to north. We got wet every which way with spray. On the way into port the water surface was 54..I'm sure the front stirred it very good. cent frum my notso smart fone

I keep a uniden handheld on my boat for a second radio. I have a 25 watt in the boat with a galaxy 8 foot high gain antenna on the t top as a main radio communicator. However my main radio is not a scanner and the handheld is. Listening wise..The handheld will hear transmissions from other boats with 25 watts for up to 25 30 miles even more from the mast of a sailboat...but you will find that's a one way transmission if you try to hail back from your handheld. The 5 watts will get you over water maybe 15 miles in the right conditions to an elevated antenna equipped radio.. 7 more likely in line of sight. Turn on a weather band on the handheld and you can pickup weather broadcasting from 50 miles and more, as well as some coast guard stations, but they typically run up to 150 watts on a high gain antenna 75 to 100 feet off the ground. It's better than cupping your hands and yelling help, when you consider it's safety virtues in reaching a boat nearby when you think you might sink and swim. Also while swimming you can have it with yourself..zip locked, and still call for help. Not a waste of time or money in that case...get one! cent frum my notso smart fone

Those are some good tips..glad to know I'm not the only one with the half wasted tube of 3M or silicone after opening. ...now what to do to stop when squeezing it to force out the remains and it exploded out the other end all over my paws!...swearing! ...go thru the day with fingers stuck together! cent frum my notso smart fone

I've tried a couple different types of glue. No good results with gorilla or a two part epoxy. Gonna try fly head cement next. cent frum my notso smart fone

If that employee finds seaweed dragging from the center bunks of my trailer...they better be prepared to squirm under there..and be skinny enough to remove it. I ain't crawling like a snake under there. We got a problem! cent frum my notso smart fone

I said it before "BUFFOONS" in government. .lol..yup, wash yer boat off at the ramp with chemicals to drain back in the water. Some of these critters are microscopic. .sea fleas..pollen..better carry a microscope in yer back pockets to make sure ya got Em all...where is there already no invasive critters and flora. They have been washing boats by the foot for dollars at Otsego Lake in Cooperstown for 20 years or more...didn't work...at least for the invasion of critters. However the village got extra income on their launch...Albany can follow that idea right? I might be right behind ya soon Ray! Excelsior State was properly applied as the ridiculous taxes, fees, surcharges and fines will always move ever upwards. . Bring yer waders..and nose pins...it's gonna be a stinky slimy PAVED..launch.. cent frum my notso smart fone

I have had good luck with a perfection loop in the wire. If you want to use a knot. No break offs over the last few years. Slip the loop through the eye of the swivel and half hitched. Don't use split rings...welded only! cent frum my notso smart fone

Public launch is nice and safe..usually someone in the shack there and it will cost ya $8 to launch. Nice clean facilities, bathroom, showers, fish cleaning station, ATM, three lanes of launch and gas dock. Very friendly port! Good luck! You got solid advices abovementioned. ..try a 330 to 360 heading, you will get the most consistent speed on your lures running north south angles. 2.5 to 2.8 gps...fish the bait depths and a little deeper. You will get salmon after a bit of North troll from 140 out then keep in that FOW and out until a change in color happens or ya see a lot of debris floating (scum line) in a line. Then turn and troll south angles. cent frum my notso smart fone

If you are speaking mainly of a mupp rig, then I presume you are fixing the cheater above the ball 8 to 10 feet? Longer than cheater lead at the ball. 15 to 20 feet I like... Target spoon on that ball set is smaller and darker in hue than the cheater spoon. Cheater leader fixed to the rigger cable by half hitched small rubber band on cable... and snap swivel clipped to main line AND the rubber band loop. 5 to 6 feet flouro to a flashier spoon larger than target spoon. ..something with good lazy wooble. I like big doctors for attractions. SLOWLY...lower ball to target depth to avoid tangles. Keep moving forward at troll speed. Slowing too much will hang the lures. Mupp works great for enticing bites from lookers. After seeing the bigger flashy spoon, they see the smaller faster action spoon target as a straggler maybe wounded morsel easy prey. cent frum my notso smart fone

Interesting fact that I have come across. Stable fly likes white surfaces...but only after they have sucked your blood. Then the readings went on to say wear black socks not white to discourage them. Must be they are the opposite of ADK black flies...they love black and I always try to wear high UV reflective color like WHITE!..or florescent GREEN! which works effective for those blackies. ..now I find out the stable fly likes those surface colors. .dammit!..trying black socks this year..thick black socks. Maybe a thermocell personal. .strapped to lower legs? Natural herb repellents that contains catnip oil is said to have been very effective in studying the fly behavior. Unless a chemical repellent contain at least 30% DEET it is non effective and only frustrated the fly and it bit more voracious. The bad thing of DEET is high concentrate mixture will eat poly carbon fiber and plastic. I think Ray has already experienced this. That's why he fishes buffy style. DEET ate his polyester sailors outfit. .AND..put a hole in Marcella's plastic skin so she won't hold air anymore without the patch on her...well..ahem!...anyway, now he relies on his natural fur to make himself impenetrable. ..hair..strange Indian. .hmmmm. ..:huh: cent frum my notso smart fone -
