Jerry, you were saying 2000 fps sabot. Those weren't the Hornady SST I hope. I had similar results on deer with both the smoke pole and shotgun. Pass through and run. Lost two deer that way. One muzzy and one shotgun, they are accurate but don't open up on terminal. I like the winchester supreme partition. Never a problem collecting deer. Beautiful buck there my man, you dome good! Yup, broke a lot of equipment going into lakes north of Grand Remous on log roads. Some real thrilling edge of the seat driving! Great fishing if ya had some ambition to fish remote ponds and lakes. Did a couple trips up to Parent Lake, Senneterre Qc easier to fish and town is close if ya need something. Just don't expect much to be open before 10am in Senneterre, and stores close early too!..LOL lots of partying going on..what else is there to do?..fish?..hunt? If ya bring worms be sure they are in artificial soil. Not "dirt" from the USA..LOL! Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

When my son first saw him, we were bow hunting and he said the buck looked ugly!..haha! Well we named him "U glee" after that. I saw him three times before I had a good shot at him, three different days, but never got a good look at his deformed horn. I took it he was another genetic horn problem to eliminate, but then again I never saw my Target buck who became a vampire after being bumped by a guest during the day after that. So he became a good one to profile and I want venison too! Yes, he was probably a normal buck of 1.5 years and may well have grown to be a great trophy next season, given his 3 points on one side. Not sure why he broke off a horn, ...maybe a headache...I've beat my head on things for that! Lol...doesn't help, don't do it! If the rest of him tastes as good as the inner tenderloins, he will be remembered over and over again, and thanked for the giving of his spirit. Yes he rested well in the pickup..LOL! I only wish I could get back out there during the second out with the late season bow muzzy and see if Mr. Big has become complacent and hungry for food ..or love of a virgin..:wub: Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks everyone for the replies! Now that the bow season has ended for me, I will take some time to check out the 2013 models that might be reduced to clear for the new models. Even still my old caveman PSE inferno took out another gene pool misfit. A one sided rack deer aptly named "U-glee" by my son. Not really the buck I was looking to harvest, but meat in the freezer and he was a resident of the property that was easy to profile. Since "Mr. Big" got bumped during daylight hours by one of the guests (wow, you shouldda seen the gigantic buck I saw running away, Musta been a 10 pointer!),...now he's a ghost, hides like a vampire from the sun. He wasn't a resident, but made his presence known passing throughout the property, rubs on thigh size trees, gouged pine tree bark. So anyway, U-glee snuck up on my son, caught him playing with his smartphone, bow on his lap, release not in his hand at 9am. Walks away and I get a text....U-glee is on his way towards you, hemlocks on your left..about an hour later, there he is coming from my right, 40 yards.. no shot. Watched him move across and along a pond, to a funnel of brushy woods that leads to a midday bedding area. Next time I see him coming from the funnel on the trail leading passed me. Takes his time, rubs a small tree, sniffing everything, and I'm getting ready. Just as I'm about to draw on him for a really close shot broadside...another 10 feet..he steps off the trail and comes straight on to me. Nothing but head on for a shot, so I pass, not wanting to chance a shot like that and wound him. He brushes my tree and walks through a row of hemlocks out of sight. So I figure this guy is a wanderer, likes going off route and I'm kinda in an open area where that happens easily...so move my climber to the funnel. Did some gardening around the four trails converging just outside the 20 yard wide brushy cover between the pond and an open meadow leading to U glee's bedroom. Next morning I'm up the tree, and a doe goes behind me a distance away, I stood and gave a couple estrus bleats and watched her walk on. Still standing I turn and look left and there is U glee standing on one of the trails, two steps from one of my gardeners prune jobs for arrows to fly. Holy crap this deer is stealthy! He's busy sniffing the change of the drapery and not totally alarmed but my bow is in the holder on my lone wolf platform yet. I wait for him to sniff a little more to the right and I grab the PSE cavebow, hoist it to shooting level, and attach release. I watched him carefully, reading his level of anxieties, and figure about the right time to draw the old club back...I don't wanna hold for too long, not enough boy power left in me...nah...just an old 65% letoff on 70 lbs....right! Ok, now he takes his final two steps to the freezer. 15 yards broadside, the halo sight is burning a hole in the rib cage behind the shoulder...TUNK!..the old bow throws a snail pace 242 fps arrow weighing 438 grains total with a Thunderhead leading it to the mark but coyote laser nock tracing it. U glee spun around and blasted out into the meadow 40 yards away, stood there like wondering.."what was that!"...then panick, ran south 10 yards and collapsed. The deer was nothing spectacular, just a great animal to posture on, and profile his routine. Made some adjustments to stand position to capitalize on his habits. Besides he was weird, and stealthy, and one horned, and Mr. Big was now nocturnal, I had no idea where he was bedding in day but it was not on the property. My son is still kicking his butt with both feet over playing with his phone, missing the chance at him. He has yet to harvest a bow buck. Ahh the distractions of technology!..hope he doesn't drive that way LOL! Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Somehow they adapt. When ya kill more they have larger litters to fill the population back. Don't know if that's true but heard it someplace from someone. Seems hard to believe that they could be that knowledgeable in their numbers to make an adjustment in a biological function of the numbers of pups in a litter..is it true? -

Thanks Chas! I'll be sure to look at the Bowtech line. I hope I can find all these bows in a pro shop so I can make a good comparison for my style. I have a use for a long axle as well as short axle, but one all around would be a good start. I might be hunting ground blind more these days. I hate feeling old!...I'm not, but feel that way! LOL! Inside is a 29 year old. Outside is twice that ..dammit! Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Way to go Justin! Like my PSE as well! I am looking at those models. I like the Source, a lot like the Hammer and EVO. After today, I'll be out there with my old "caveman" bow. Might have to be a ground pounder though. Not sure what's up with the knee joint, but it might not like using my climber. I got a pop-up, never used it, but I'll see what it does this time maybe. Good job on the venison gathering! Mark Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I usually take mine out, but last winter I didn't. The boat is outside and covered and thought I might use it during winter. Nothing went wrong, but there are circuit boards that can crack and cause troubles, so I recommend taking them out for safe keeping in the house. But then again, these things were probably sitting around in some unheated cold warehouse or truck trailer in their travels to the store. Condensation is worse than cold, and corrosive action can be a byproduct of it. If its bad enough it could expand, cracking a display. I'm taking mine out this time, its not worth the risk for a few minutes of time removing them. Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks Justin, I thought about trying a 30 inch. I know I have my release stretched about as far as comfortably possible to still trip the trigger. I might get a little bit more from the loop addition, but I experience trouble with short axle bows having a very acute string angle and nock pinch. I actually draw more toward 31.5 or 32 and the 31 inch stop is about the limit of comfort for me with my anchor. I do see that the 2014 manufacturers are bringing in more 31 inch draw bows. Bear has a bunch, PSE, Elite, these are the ones I am going to handle and see which is friendly to me. Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Can't wait to park this truck in the driveway, bucks are running wild all over the highways. Wisconsin south to Kentucky and east down to west Virginia. Many greased in the roads...one gigantic buck 30 miles south of Nashville landed in the windshield of a KIA SOUL!..OUCH! Home in 4 days then 2 weeks of hunting. Praying not to grill one on this truck! Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I have been to Roys shop, and he is very good on setup and tune. I bought a bow for my son there many years ago. It was a Jennings, but he outgrew that and now has a bear that he likes too. Thanks, and nice buck you took today! A real horse! CongratesMark Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
