Matt, try flat lining some j13 Rapala or J plugs in front of the breakwall. Early morning if the sky is clear. Cloudy with a little wave action will keep kings moving in all day. Before daylight charge up some glow j plugs and make your leads about 100 to 150 feet back. Add some inline weight to the plugs if you want to get them down a bit. It's only about 12 feet deep in close to the wall, move out to 20 feet and just move with the crowd if there is one. Mind your long lines though, you can shorten them up a bit in case there is traffic. Move outside the pack and try down west of the wall a ways toward the pump house and back. Troll about 2.6 mph with the Rapala...you can go faster with the plugs if the fish are hitting them. Check your drags and be sure they are set to take a strong hit from an angry king! Good luck! Ps be aware, there is a nasty prop eater on the east pass of the breakwall going out from the east pier near the end of the breakwall. I don't go thru there anymore. Thanks for the reviews guys! Looking at Raymarine for replacing another Raymarine on my boat ,that is no longer available . Never had any problems with it but just want to upgrade. Glad to know the company is commendable! Mark Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

No, not my boat, but pretty similar. I have been out on some bad days that cleared the prop! Couple of friends are accustomed to going out in less than desirable conditions, and we get a little wet! I have a good chiropractor too! Half the fun of fishing is getting to the fish! Like this!..a fast Fountain to the kings at the 32 line!

It's hopeless, the future is here. 40 years ago we carried guns openly. Had them in racks in the window of pickups. Police didn't care. Might ask if you had it loaded. Today the airlines have Marshalls on them. The very professional people you speak of so your family can travel with a sense of safety, because some kooks with box cutters killed over 3000 of us in one day. One man, out of 300 people still doesn't make me confident to fly. The future is here. Read the post again about the Garand, it functions exactly like what is a legal firearm today regardless of the clip capacity which I already said held 8 rounds. If you start discussion of modified later versions, you are leaving the path of the original post, but thanks for becoming educated on the weapons that kept our freedom intact during a very disrupting time in America. No professional firearms training needed, just a desire to carry on a life in this country without oppression, like we should today. Unless we chose to forget...the future is here. If Joe, Mr. Vice-president, really wanted to reduce the gun crimes, he would find a way to treat the symptom of humanity called murder, suicide, and homicide. A statistic I have read, states 2/3 of deaths by guns in this country are by suicide. The Vice-president, calling out a particular rifle such as a WW2 relic, such as the M1 Garand as a deterrent to gun crimes is disingenuous. The M1 Garand is heavy, fires 5 rounds semi-auto, (just like my "legal" deer rifle)... can hold 8 rounds if useing the en-bloc military clip for warfare. and has major drawback, the loud cha ching of the spent clip ejected from the magazine, letting your, in this case,"enemy" know you were out of ammo, and free for countering attack with a few quick rounds back. Now I've let myself discuss a rifle,..gun...one just like many of Americans own, that functions exactly the way the Garand does, except for the auto-ejected clip. No features, including that one of the clip make this an "assault weapon" even under the over imposing NY SAFE act. It is this step by step process of finding backdoor reasons to disarm law abiding citizens that should concern everyone including those who don't own guns or hunt or enjoy peaceful shooting sports. The President, is Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy..AND Malitia...we would be a joke, and dead, if he ever had to call upon the citizenry, armed with a slingshot to defend our home front. No amount of registration, and regulation on any inanimate object is going to deter a murdering mindset. It is a symptom of humanity and needs corrections. The disarming agenda is disingenuous, period. Otherwise those 2/3 who were so distraught, felt so self damned, and didn't seek help, or have access to help medically, or physically, vowed to take their own life by any means, commited suicide anyway would have acted out using another way quick and painless, regulated or not. It is a symptom the government ignores, and throws smoke and mirrors on a mentally deranged tragedy of society to their advantage, as they push the agenda. Removing focus on themselves for failings of their own. Not trying to change anyone's mind....unless it is hurting...but maybe opening some up. Love thy neighbor, and live. Nick & Theresa, thankyou!..I have passed many hours enjoying your fishing ..here's a winter project for hours of enjoyment...or frustration! No knot hollow core connections copper to backing and wind on leader. Smooth, no haywire, no spro, no albright, just a couple loop to loop perfection knots that are no problem reeling throughout all the guides. I love my coppers now, no annoying knots or breakoff. Try it you'll like it! Mark Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

â€There can be no liberty where the legislative and executive powers are united in the same person, or body of magistrates,†or, â€if the power of judging be not separated from the legislative and executive powers,†So far as I can tell, there has been no debate on guns here, and the OP stated it would be intresting to "MOST" not all readers. When Joe talks, he inadvertently sticks his foot in his mouth, which to most people listening, is just normal and expected. What's intresting, is seeing what kind of government we could have when an executive officer, inept as Joe is, states executive order and then in the same venue, states getting a legislative department in power to enact every executive order into law, like he just said. Executive orders can be abused and set negatives against the constitutional rights of Americans, because they are never clearly defined under one meaning, as is an amendment. All we have left is judiciary to protect us when Joe wants to find that one party rule. I wouldn't want to guess how long it would take to have all three branches be one and the same when the government owns all the firepower and force to do it. Definition....tyranny. I know...I must be paranoid. Castro was a sweet talking saviour that freedom seeking people believed in too. Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

"If Congress won’t act, we’ll fight for a new Congress.†Nice!...more like a dictatorship every day and every time he or the other baffoon opens their mouths. Never mind the rest of the country or how congress is placed in legislative positions. It's beginning to sound like executive order is one man one party rule...never mind we the people! Possum brains would be a waste on Joe. Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I'm inclined to think most of the matures have migrated east and some skippers likely follow. The west end in general has been very warm for this time of year, and the oak orchard river is very warm, and slow moving, much like the sandy and 18 mile. These western end rivers are subjected to sunlight much longer, move too slow to cool much without adequate cloudy rainy days. There have been few days of clouds and rain in the past month. Faster moving waters like the salmon river and the black river cool earlier due to more wooded areas of fast flowing water and the prevailing rain and wind off the lake moving into the Adirondacks dropping colder rain on the elevations. The Niagara is colder than any western river due to its depth, and some west end salmon prefer that over the 18 mile, oak and sandy. I just think the majority has gone east. The fish were here off the Oak, but they were in small pods that you had to prospect more for. Last year it seemed you could set up anywhere at almost anyplace 200 to 500 fow and run right into a great amount of consistent catch. We needed more rain and some cooler temps this season. I still think there is a class of salmon offshore, yet. Good runs of the Oak are not usually going on until end of September, on into mid October and later, but this warm inside waters has moved the fish that were earlier checking the Oak to cooler waters...they aren't so willing to die in warm water before spawn, and nature tells them the spawn will likely have no chance at life. I think we will see some fish finally move in from offshore, only if we get cold rain and cloudy days to entice them. They do still have time. It's only The beginning of September, and a hot dry one at that! Mark Sent from my PC36100 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks Rick! Nice to know how the weekend went. I was thinking about going out, kinda knowing that I was probably gonna burn gas for a boat ride. I sure hope there is still a class of salmon staged offshore yet, or its gonna be a sparse population come 3 years from now... So much bait inside makes one wonder if the forage base is outrunning the predator populations too....what do ya think? Seems surface temps are staying too high for any good runs at the oak yet. I don't know what the river temps are lately. I think 95% of boats has been just outside of port and not much there really, only sporadically as it seems too warm inside yet? a good rough water boat
skipper19 replied to john1947's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Power cat, like world cat. Rides over breaking waves with ease, rides level at rest and slow trolling without major roll. Easy on gas with twin outboards that can use lower horsepower than a monohull of same size. Trawlers are nice in the rough, but they are slllooowww when its smooth running. Rick, if every charter has your kind of class, talent and decency, none of us would even own our own boats!..no worries mate..er..I meant Captain! You give the title it's due credit and it shows everyday, here and on the water! It's no different than me with a professional driving license, there are bad apples in the bunch, and they are ones who don't last, because they don't understand the reason for being in business in the first place. There are a lot of good business people out there in chartering or even trucking and the professionalism shows in their caring attitude to everyones life and pursuit of happiness....Unfortunately, for a few, happiness outruns their brains..
