  4. I 95...hmmmm..goes all the way down to south Florida east coast. Everything in between. I only have a few really nice places to go along the way. Of course they also involve some fishing. I like Cape Hatteras. Great fishing and camping along the barrier islands. It's a bit of an excursion from I 95 but well worth the extra ride. Might not be the warmest in the winter but there is less tourists at that time. Pier fishing is one thing you can do without 4x4 to get to the beach. I camp at a few different places but normally stay at Frisco Woods Campground, or Hatteras Sands in Hatteras Village. There are several good campgrounds north of the point too. Not sure if the ferry is running during the winter, you can check but it can take you off the outerbanks on the south end of Ocracoke island back to the mainland. Georgia is next with St. Simons and Cumberland Islands park. Camping and sightseeing and close to the okeefenokee swamp. Then you are on your way into Florida, I would check to see if the state is still open to tourists after Ray crossed the St. Marys river.... You might check for him at the truckstop in Vero Beach, or the Lamancha motor in in Hialea. Never should have told him about those stops... [ Post made via Android ]
  5. Half a dozen attacks caused the death of 20 people. One attack with a gun caused the death 26 people. Should I explain how many deaths would have occurred if the cleaver guys would have had high power full automatics or even semi automatics? (the semis would probably have killed more). Obviously..I need no explanation. Thanks I must be terribly narrow minded...I should just focus on the firearms in the US..however the point is missed again...society without deterred nut case attacks lets it happen dozens of times in 2 years. And the implements used has changed. Not the treatment of the whack jobs. Multiply the attacks times six per year times the years between columbine and Connecticut. None would be best but I would rather take the later and not worry about cleavers and knives and hammers without even the governments help. What kind of gun did Oswald use?..did it fire automatically 30 rounds with the one pull of the trigger? In other words there really is no definition in what a dangerous firearm is. But was Oswald a beleiver in America or Marxist Russia, or was he never found schitzo in his young life. Too bad there wasn't a nics check back then. Maybe there would have never been a gun...in a schitzo's hands. NRA supporter killer?....do you believe the NRA supports his type? Helps his type? Wants to let criminals run rampant with any firearm, or do they want the rest of us to have the freedom to choose our way of life in the face of a killer trying to change that? I don't care if he has a gun or a knife it is HIM who wants to change my life for the worst: God Bless Everyone and Merry Christmas to all [ Post made via Android ]
  6. The issue of dangers to society are not going to go away, even if all the guns go away. Countries where they don't have guns, are quick to cover up the fact they DO have guns. The ones that are used in crimes are kept to a low key as not to alarm the citizens and perpetuate the false sense of security that the govenments want the people to believe in. The socialists, communists, etc. Would like their people to believe they have it all under control. The United States freedom of speech, keeps crime at the forefront and it is exploited by the media, good or bad. So far China and countries like it, don't have guns in public...but the chefs cleaver, the knives that aren't registered, and the craftsmans hammers are dangerous weapons used in over a half dozen attacks on school children in two years with 22 dead and 90 injured. Those perps are still breathing after they are chased. Schools seem only intrested in what's going on INSIDE the school. Locks are used and all was suppose to be safe on the inside. Well at some point the doors have to be unlocked for PEOPLE to pass thru. Narrow the point of entry and you need only one armed police officer, but what are you going to do with the kids after they are in the school yard, on the busses, exiting the school because of an emergency.Manufactured Emergencies like the staged fires in irodequiot can be exploited and used to draw people out in the open and in a large gathering. What are we going to do to protect all the 600 people coming out? One armed cop is going to have to be superman. Maybe there should be guard towers overlooking the yard...no maybe not looks like a prison then. Locked doors are not enough, one armed cop is not enough and your tax dollars for that can't pay enough for the uniformed man with police training. So the guy who shoots the firemen is identified by Webster policemen as a whack job that shot his grandmother 17 years ago, and was parolled. Then shoots his dumbass self after this fireman attack.. The media will again immortalize this sub human. So now what, maybe the firemen need to pack their own heat as part of their turnout gear? At least maybe they would have been able to fight the fire instead of being pinned down for an hour by this turd. Why does our justice system let killers out of prison like that? The nut should not be let out, we kept this piece of fecal matter alive with taxes for 17 years to come out and do this?...waste. Well I feel better knowing that for 17 years society was safer without the turd. The justice system let us down early. He should have rotted in bars or been given what murders should get, less of our tax dollars spent and a vacancy in the cell, along with a message to other like thinking sub humans. So I guess this will only serve to villify firearms of all types again, not the villan. It's a shame. My heart goes out to the victims families. Christmas eve is not suppose to be like this. I hope it will not be served up on media to help fuel more copy cat sub human glorification for the whack jobs that walk amongst us, in the malls in the theaters, in the festivals, on the streets, at the drive in, in the restaurant, on and on. I hope there is an armed police officer walking beside me all the way. Maybe he will not have his uniform on. Maybe he will be off duty. Maybe he will be a off duty guard like the one that shot John Lennon. Or maybe...he will be just someone who has training and not a whack job, to make my day when I'm the one being accosted without defense. Could be man or woman, but knowing the licensed gun owners outnumber the whack jobs helps. The system is better than anywhere in the world but it needs some tweaking to make it better. Not sure what it is but it is not something you or I will decide. [ Post made via Android ]

  8. well I was able to catch a piece of that asteroid flying by, and threw it in the side fire box on my smoker. low and behold it was at exactly 265 degrees. threw in some lump charcoal and Hickory sticks, and got a nice thin blue smoke going . the beer can chicken marinated overnight with Dave's roasted chicken rub in a 2.5 gallon zip lock. Before placing in the bag, the chickens were washed and rubbed with olive oil and generously rubbed with Daves roast chicken rub. After the chicken sat in fridge for a nite, they were placed on cans of beer that had half poured into a moisture pan in the smoke chamber. Then the cans recieved more Daves in with the remained beer. Then the chickens were draped with Bacon and a wad of Bacon stuffed in the top hole to retain beer moisture. 4 hrs into smoke I cover with a foil tent to keep from over browning and check internal temp. I stop adding raw wood after 4 to 5 hours and maintain temp with just lump charcoal already lit in the starter chimney. Read the internal temp and remove at 160 in the breast. This is the moistest chicken you will ever eat. So good I almost cry The pork piece in the back is a prime rib center cut. It was prepaired with rub made from a source on the internet, and it is very good. Memphis Dust. Olive oiled the pork and sprinkled the rub on and let the sugars melt into the surface along with the spices. I apply enough to begin seeing the rub not melting and stop there. Fridged it for a nite and placed it rib side down on the rack. Smoke the pork to 175 and remove. Temps range between 240 to 300 in the smoke chamber on this day. Windy and about 30 deg...I put rubber mats on the smoker lid to help insulate it. I'll post the recipe for the Memphis Dust on here in a bit. Started at 10:00 ended chicken 165 at 3 pm. Pork at 175 around 3:30 pm image ru online photo sharing Memphis Dust Recipe Yield. Makes about 3 cups. I typically use about 1 tablespoon per side of a slab of St. Louis cut ribs, and a bit less for baby backs. Store the extra in a zipper bag or a glass jar with a tight lid. Preparation time. 10 minutes to find everything and 5 minutes to dump them together. Ingredients 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 3/4 cup white sugar 1/2 cup paprika 1/4 cup Morton's kosher salt 1/4 cup garlic powder 2 tablespoons ground black pepper 2 tablespoons ground ginger powder 2 tablespoons onion powder 2 teaspoons rosemary powder [ Post made via Android ]
  9. Your right, any gun is scary looking and if we only heard how many times a gun was uncovered to defend a life and never fired. We will never know that. But i'll bet it is 1000s of times more often than a tragedy in a school. A uniform is comforting, even when there is a gun in sight ...I wonder. [ Post made via Android ]
  10. Huh...that was a near miss..but the wind from that asteroid going by at warp speed is blowing my tarp off my boat! [ Post made via Android ]
  11. Right on!...my chargriller is loaded up with beer can chicken, wings and a center cut pork prime rib. Memphis dust rubbed in. Now if It's under 250 degrees tomorrow, I will set fire to the side box loaded with oak charcoal and hickory sticks. sunglasses required...more beer necessary. [ Post made via Android ]

[1] Reaction and response Close this section See also References External links Read in another language A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in the People's Republic of China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 21 dead and some 90 injured. Analysts have blamed mental health problems caused by rapid social change for the rise in these kind of mass murder and murder-suicide incidents. [1] Since the recent spate of attacks, many parents are now worried about their children's safety in schools and have since asked local officials and school governors to step up security at the schools. The education ministry has formed an emergency panel to tackle the violence and some local police authorities have distributed such instruments as steel pitchforks and pepper spray to security guards in schools. However not all schools increased their security because of lack of funds to hire extra security. The state media has also been keeping news of these attacks quiet by deleting forum entries on the internet and releasing few facts on the incident for fear of copycat crimes and mass panic. In May 2010 Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao commented on the school attacks and said that the 'social tensions' in China must be addressed. He also said society was changing rapidly and that subsequent changes in policy were needed. Why these attacks have been specifically targeted at young school children is not entirely explicable, however. [ Apparently, not all the children survived DOZENS OF ATTACKS IN THE PAST TWO YEARS... Response:...Arm the school with pitchforks and shovels...sounds like long range defense farm tools in the hands of proficient farmers to me. Hope it works for them. 16. Tom, thanks for the history update on the OK corral. My reference to the compared events of today against those of 1861 was based on an implied sameness of the current event. Facts of the gunfight in Tombstone, from Tuscon were apparently skewed to favor one side or the other in the two local newspapers that reported it and editorialized the event, The Nugget and The Tombstone Epitaph had conflicting accounts on the fight and favored one over the other in an effort to win approval of their respective constituants. Amazing how that aspect has not changed as of today. The Spicer hearings in court proved that media was biased even then. Correct about the .22 and the brick. My reference was about proficiency and the mine is bigger than yours quote. In this reference, Yes the .50 would go to waste in an unskilled hand not to mention dangerous as most anything that requires the precise training for it. No, I was not suggesting armor piercing ammo for defense. Sub velocity fragment lead at close range is all that's needed...safely assessing beyond target, along with skillful shot placement. I know this isn't the last debate, but I am not going to change anyone's mind about the fact of why some would find the firearm at fault in either case of outcome....good or bad. Sorry for perpetuating the discussion, it is one we can't have on the subject of firearms thanks to the media. What time does the asteroid arrive on Friday? Problem solved. 18. I'm sorry Tom,, but no . the okay corral gunfight was a planed gunfight. 4 Lawmen against 5 outlaws and 2 of them ran away in fear of the lawmen because of their proficiency with their hand guns and Doc Holliday's shotgun may have been the only advantage . A 30 second gun fight and good did prevail no surprises . giving the revolutionaries AND the royal forces AR fifteens would have sent the English home a lot sooner given their proficiency with weapons and desire to be free . the few against the many in skills prevails no matter how many bullets in the gun. a miss with a 50 caliber is the same as a miss with the 22 caliber most hunters will not choose an ar-15 as a hunting implement . most hunting laws regulate the firearm to contain less than 5 rounds . an ar-15 cannot be concealed . and we're making this too much about the gun in the hand of a person who should not have 1 ...make it a chainsaw . How many rounds does a hunter need to bring down a deer? only 1 in a skilled manor hunters don't use 9 millimeter glocks with 15 rounds, only folks who want to use licensed equal force to protect themselves in the face of life for death with a criminal .... Nor fully automatic rifles which require even more special licensing than any other weapon in the world. how many rounds does it take the police to take down a cracked up criminal ? And Paul ...you are absolutely right on...liberal advertised glorification media. [ Post made via Android ]
  19. I agree it is completely different today to have to think of having armed officials in a school. Today is different. That is the fact. Those of us who grew up in school and graduated before the electronic boom, knew how to get out and socialize. We played outside and no one ever worried about us that much. We grew up to appreciate our humanity even if some of us had challenges. Bully kids were there, name calling got done and feelings were hurt or anger came and went but we never went to get a gun from the parking lot. Yes there were guns in the parking lot. In rural America it was common to see them in the rack in a pickup truck. Teachers and administrators had them too if they hunted. Seems alien to us now doesn't it? Why is that? In my opinion it is because guns were never used in horrific crimes like this today. They were out of mainstream circulation because they were something never to be feared but respected. What about the gun changed? It is still a gun. People have learned to fear guns only because desensitized humans are directed at society to commit crimes. I wasn't there, I don't know how the actions of the school officials went down, but all I hear on the news sources that there were heros who gave their lives doing what they could to stop an assailant......without a licensed concealed handgun. I would much rather hear about the heros in the LIVE form. I believe if the principal, or the 27 year old teacher, or the any one of the other officials had been trained, not just in emergency preparedness, but in defensive firearm training. This would have had a very different outcome, possibly heralding the saving of all the children and many others lives. Then how would the gun in the hands of one of the heros be judged. It's not fair to judge the gun when it can only be used against society before it can be used for society. We have the right to use guns for good, it should not scare people into believing that they are bad in the hands of all people. It is merely a tool, and it only has danger in the hands of incapable, untrained, and impaired brains. So is a nailgun, so is a car, so is a super airliner, so is a box cutter....do we fear them?...no ...do we know what they can do in the hands of incompetent people? ...no one has to take a background check for these afore mentioned things...well almost. I do because I haul hazmat on an 18 wheeled truck. I never had to before 911. Today is different, the gun did not change that, society did and it should not be feared or else we should fear the security forces as well. Armed teachers would have first hand response. Police cannot ever get there fast enough to stop the assailant. All they can do is say of they only had a chance to avert this with equal force. In a good way against an evil way. Good prevails. Don't restrict the good people. They are all the ones who we hear about that died. I am sad. Mark [ Post made via Android ]

  21. Going to be hard to find conservative teachers to arm in most schools. Precisely the reason for advertised "gun free zone" on some school grounds. That promotes a feeling of false safety that only those who focus on the gun used in a crime will feel secure with. Unfortunately the truth is a criminal has propensity to immoral thinking and acts the thinking into how best to compromise someone's complacency and vulnerabilities. They are cowards, socially inept, and that makes them feel the need to break morality and violate any one of the 10 laws that shape our humanity on earth. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. That should be taught in our schools, this is America, the Constitution should be taught It's meanings. Remember ...it only took some people with box cutters, who were against our values here in America, to bring us to our knees one day...I think about that every time I open my tool box to get one out or see one in a store. No background check needed to buy or use the box cutter....I might add, that they were not necessarily mentally ill...just exploiting our complacency and our sense of false security. I would NOT send my child to a school that advertised that kind of thinking today. No... the sale of guns is not the problem, that makes them safer in the hands of responsible, moral people with background checks. Could spell disaster for the afore mentioned, terrorist, racist, deviate type teachers who want to indoctrinate our kids into believing what THEY WANT! I say let them go through the security check to own a handgun. All the better. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  22. Absolutely horrid act of evil. We need more MENTAL DETECTORS, than we do metal detectors.
