Twin outboards on a Lake O boat will be a plus in maneuvering, slight plus in speed, but a minus in out the back access with riggers will be somewhat compromised. If you like the one with the twins, and ya want better fuel economy I would consider trading the twins for a single 300 or 350 and have maybe a good enough deal that a kicker up to 15 hp be added for trolling the many hours you spend fishing. Rather than have breakneck speed at the cost of space and fuel for the twins just to race out and back for the hour offshore... as compared to the time spent idling around fishing. Just a thought. Another thing is if those Yammy 250 2 Strokers are the HPDI models or the earlier OX66 design. The HPDI versions are a bit complicated fuel delivery design. Also you should consider the cost of the oil injection for the ring a ding motors X2... as compared to the cost of a 4 stroke outboard. I have a 225 yammy 2 stroke OX, and the oil for one gallon is around 30 bucks. Now ya got 30 bucks added to the fuel for every 50 gallons consumed on EACH motor. 100 gals. fuel at 4.50 = $450 + $60 oil = $510 for the twin two stokers @ 28 gal per hr cruise 33mph= $143 per hour 100 gals. fuel at 4.50 = $450 + $0 oil = $450 for a single 300 4 stroker @ (Est. 17 gal p/hr) 28 mph= $76.50 per hr That's a lot more trips offshore and back on the single 300hp powered boat. Of course all this is estimates and depend highly on hull efficiency and weight. Then ya got all the maintainence of the two strokers from idling vs the little kicker. I know what idling the two stroke does to things like O2 sensors and plugs when my little four stroke kicker is not running for a day....baaaddd! Hope this helps, and doesn't dull your enthusiasm. Fuel costs keep us all at the dock or on the driveway more than we like these days. Mark

Best electric filet knife you have used???
skipper19 replied to DJ 17's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Rapala works for me. 12 volt plug for the cig lighter ...jumper clips for a battery, and the 110/12 volt transformer for the electric outlet. yeah it gets warm to hang onto but never fails so far. -
Hope it was everything you wished for Jerry! Happy Birthday! Mark

Thanks Ray!...very good observations and advice. All true. I was once a big woods hunter (Catskills) Delaware and Otsego counties and now that I am a Lyntuckian, I have little wood lots and lots of farm land and a thicker terrain of underbrush and swampy land. The bucks I have seen here are much bigger body and antlers than the woods bucks. Tougher to hunt in ways that they don't use any particular patch of woods every day..hard to pick which lot of woods would be the winner.. but do move along hedge rows between fields and that changes my strategy to more of a small game hunter. Had to teach myself not to try to hike for 2 miles in the woods (didn't take long after walking out the other side in 500 yards) for the prime deep woods bedding/ feeding areas. I been able to watch small bucks just walk by with even limited hunting time due to work and weather restrictions, knowing that there will be bigger older bucks coming. Used to believe I had to take the first buck that came along. Taking a young doe for the freezer is a good choice over a huge doe for the quality of eating and the survival of the herd and genetics...a very good point you brought up and makes sense. Mark

coppers and dipsys
skipper19 replied to reeladdiction2's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Too many coppers and a pod of steelhead in frenzy....now you will have a frenzy and a lot of expensive copper to replace or untangle for the next hour. Less is more..TOTALLY AGREE! Rick is right! riggers and dipsy control and experiment with copper in different positions according to the target depth. -
He wears bald eagle feathers on his little head...fur is naturally bare!.... You are doin stuff right Ray!....Congrates again! Mark [ Post made via Android ]

I used to never have much luck with calls. But that was long ago in big woods with everyone in gear to shoot bucks only and never take a doe. Needless to say that kind of thinking lead to a big doe population and few big bucks and mostly little bucks with no incentives to fight for a doe. Does were everywhere for the taking and no competition. Now that I hunt with landowners practice of QDM, the grunt is the best attraction there is in that PARTICULAR area. Does are less plentiful, bucks are bigger and more aggresive, which leads to competing for the few mature does that are there. Scents work better too, especially when buck urine is used upwind of an active scrape along a travelled lane. It all comes down to competing mature bucks to react aggressively to these sounds and smells. So if the area is loaded with does the chances are you can't get a buck to pay any mind to another buck sound or smell. I have had bucks that were totally undectable within a few hundred yards of me come running in all puffed up for a fight with a good grunt. It does have to do with timing though and that's why I reserve the best bow hunting spot I have to the full rut peak. Mark [ Post made via Android ]

Ray, you have a daughter to be so proud of! As a hobby minstrel myself, (guitar, drums) I can appreciate the dedication it takes to immerse oneself in the story of the music and to bring that emotion to the audience and perform in a piece that compilations 5 movements for nearly an hour! She is a gift to everyone who's life is enhanced with music. Thankyou Ray, Carol, and family, we love you too man! Bob, I even love bluegrass, amazing right!?....rap...not so much Hey ..Nancy P. Great buck!...your story sounds exactly like one I had three years ago only minus the water. Spine shot flipped him right over on his back, crawling through the brush and I used up two more arrows missing with each and having to climb down fast with my climber and fetch one of the spent arrows stuck in the ground and finish him 20 yards from where he took the first arrow...I know how unpretty that was and I was glad it was over. Congrates on a great hunt! Mark [ Post made via Android ]

LED is best, less power drain, and you can get colors!...make sure the string is "hermetically" sealed so no weather or contaminants can permeate the electronics. I have some red and blue mixed together to make a soft purple glow. Kinda nice for show and mood at the dock...or way out fishing..uhhhhh..deep at night with yer special mate...uhhhh tackle box on the deck. [ Post made via Android ]

I was in Quebec fishing about 20 years ago on the Baskatong reservoir and there were some bear hunters there at the lodge from Pa. that were quartering up a bear and I watched while they pulled these long thin white worms from out of the meat. That was all I needed to know about that. They asked if I wanted some ....uhhhh no thanks..not with in a side order of worms with it. [ Post made via Android ]

A great story of love, devotion, and companionship unique and special of a father and son. Thankyou..he may be old school on the outside, but inside is the house of pride, and you are obviously the fuel of his passion for life. Do share this with him. I wish I could say your exact words to my dad as you have here. I had 16 years of his legacy, and it was the best time of my life but way to short. My past 40 years are a tribute to him as I will always practice what he preached about the outdoors and life. I'm with ya Ray....the 70s I am my father Kenneth's son. Fountain 39.... Too much...darn....975 bucks a month for 30 years Scout 33....too much ...darn ....800 bucks a month for 20 years Regulator 26...close....used maybe ...still expensive, but most seaworthy, practical center console. .... ... 225 Aquasport Osprey....got that one...dream about getting it out every day. Would take the Regulator next and be satisfied Agree about the center console profile, it is the speed and raw fish catching stand up platform of choice for me. It just looks the epitome of fish catching performance. Bring a rainsuit, find a railing and HANG ON! [ Post made via Android ]
