  5. I can't think of any reason to vote for him...including Asian Carp control, and it is too bad that it should come down to a political solution. Politics are fast becoming something of a joke on any front. Let's just say if it is up to any president or prime minister for that matter it will be a long time for a solution and we don't have time for it in our lifetime or even here on this forum. Our voices together CONSTANTLY can only help maintain someone's focus. But 10000 members of this forum are not even a drop in the bucket. There is never a guarantee that the one put in office will do anything right for all of us. Only some of us. If Asian carp threatened golf courses I'm sure this president would get right on it....just me FWIW.. [ Post made via Android ]
  6. That's why, out of the "big three" cable news networks, MSNBC ranks the last place in viewership. They report 100% of the facts all of the time....for those who can ONLY think on the left end of the spectrum! ... and live life filtered.
  7. It just became my favorite beer this summer. Itis very full bodied and has a great finish to it. There are many brews to choose from and they are all good from Shock Top. The one I am featuring in the signature avitar is the newest brew coming in November. That is their label approval and the brew is coming in preparation for the "End of the world" (12/12/2012). According to the ancient Mayans calendar there is a gateway to the worlds of consciousness. I plan to put on my crash helmet and goggles, sit on my porch with the brew in hand and watch either the cataclysmic end or transition to peace and tranquility as it comes....SALUTE! The ingredients should help with the effect midnight wheat chocolate malt chili pepper spices Oh and yes those fish are some great examples of what Lake O has to offer!....VERY NICE!!!!!

  9. Unfortunately that rule is wrong and can only enhance the stupid factor. The one who can, but will NOT give way will always suffer the consequence of collision in maritime law. So if they plan to hold course, on your vessel in it's course, while you cannot maneuver and you are giving visual and audible warning, then they also plan to hit you if you cannot move out of their way, whether it be fishing with long line or trawling, or if the vessel being encroached is powerless to move from the stand on vessel and it's course. When one moving boat hits another moving boat the result is called a "collision." However, when a moving boat hits another at anchor, or any stationary object, that is called an "allision." In an allision, a rebuttable presumption is created that the moving boat was at fault. That rule of law is called the "Oregon Rule." Boat at anchor or powerless to move. Some people mistakenly think that a sailboat always has the right-of-way over powerboats. A sailboat does have the ROW over a powerboat unless the sailboat is overtaking the powerboat. A sailboat must also keep out of the way of large vessels in narrow channels, and ferryboats. This is just common sense since these large vessels have difficulty stopping and maneuvering. In the case of a power boat engaged in the act of fishing by long line and is moving only at 2.5 mph it is likely the sailboat will be overtaking the power boat and therefore should use the rule of overtaking and manuever accordingly to avoid collision or entangling fishing lines or nets.
  10. J plugs!...yay!..wish I could be there. Like those kings when they get fooled by those plugs. Good job Mick. Maybe in two weeks when I'm back again. I posted the obstructions on the east pass a while ago. Is there a way of putting a temporary marker on it?.. [ Post made via Android ]

  12. Yeah I think I saw you down there and one other boat deeper. I was tempted to go down there near the glass house but so much warm water out of port there seemed a bit iffy. I saw huge amounts of bait out there and got my intrest up. The fish had eggs, and 12 rays in the anal fin so I gotta say its a coho. upload photo Forked tail no spots keep photos online 12 rays in anal fin up pic White mouth grey gums and black tongue.... 13. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/9 Time on Water: 4:30 pm to dark Weather/Temp: cool 66 Wind Speed/Direction: west 5 to 10 mph Waves: less than 2 Surface Temp: 72 Location: straight out of port LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: salmon (chinho) Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 2.6 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 375 Lure Depth: 130 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Decided to get one solo cruise out before the end of the season. Put in at the ramp and was the only one there. Went out to 100 fow dropped the fish hawk td to the bottom and it came back 72 degrees all the way down....to much big wind the other day and all the warm water was inside. Head North I say, and went to the 27 line dropped again and temp changed at 95 down so started there with a rigger pulling a steely Dan mag down 95 and the other rigger with 42 second pro troll pulling an adrenaline ATOMIK fly. One dipsey out 340 with meat behind a green dot protroll. Screen was phenomenal!..bait and hooks all over 110 to 135 down but very reluctant to hit. Followers coming from below so I dropped to 115 and 130 where most of the bait was showing. Some bait as deep as 155 feet. Reached up in my overhead storage box for a coolee for my cold water and it bailed out of the box rolled along the gunnel and dove in the lake...CRAP!...Hit the man overboard on the gps ..returned to net it and it bobs out of the way...MAN!..so spinning around to get it again and the 130 rigger is off and running. 1/4 mile away its finally in the net. About 15 lb salmon on the deck. Managed to return back 1/4 mile to the the floating coolee, found it, amazingly, as it is blue like the water and the sun is getting low. Ok got that back and trolled till dark but no other action. Actually I went out for the sunset. So for that I scored a Limit of eye candy. It was a very nice evening and comfortably cool without the humidity for once. photo hosting Looks like a chinho..no defined character of one or the other. No tail spots to speak of...mouth white with black toungue and gums. up pic Screen was loaded most of the troll especially after sundown. anonymous image hosting This is why I troll until sundown! 14. Happy birthday Lew! Good for you! one hundred and two!
  15. Sure is!..and I just had steelhead and steak done on the charcoal two nights ago. This is a great grill if anyone is looking for a combo unit. It's not compact but can do a lot of food and is actually a very easy smoker to use. I like it better than my electric big chief cabinet.....and what better excuse to play with fire too! Thankyou! 16. Those Kumho 857 205/14 look awesome. Very high load range 500 lbs more per tire than most standard 205s. Tire Rack has them for 508 bucks for 4... Think the cost is offset by durability from the reviews on hull truth and others. Radial tire are best for ride if you have the slamming going on. Raising tire pressure on bias tires is worse for ride but is necessary on those tires to run at maximum pressure. Radials are smoother at max pressure and save gas too. 857s should get me down to the Keys so I can fish with Ray this winter [ Post made via Android ]

  18. Length of refigeration freshness is contingent on a few things. The least amount of time is when you use fruit juices and sugars and little sodium in the brine. In this case the smoke is your only real preserving element. Dryness of the meat is next. If it is drier it will last longer, however it is not as flavorful and tougher. What you package the meat in will also affect the time of freshness. I like to keep the end product in a loose foil package to allow the meat to dry a little. If you seal it in a ziplock bag, it will get moisture trapped in with the meat and get a little icky over time. Vacuum packing is best. For longer storage in the fridge up to 4 weeks, use sodium nitrate (bacteria inhibiting salt) about 2 tablespoons to a gallon of cold clean water without chlorine in the brine and limit the amount of sugar to very small 1/2 cup brown sugar amount. If I want to add flavors I sprinkle seasonings on the meat while the meat is drying to form the pellicle before smoking. You can baste on maple sugar for some sweetness or even sprinkle brown sugar on before smoking. If you use the sodium nitrate (i use Morton tender quick) I usually try not to add too much sugars to the brine because you want the meat to firm up overnight with just the sodium penetrate the meat. Sugars will cause bacterial growth and fats and oil in the fish react to cause the product to go rancid at a faster pace. That's why I add these flavors after the brine process and then the spice or sugars are just superficial and become part of the glaze and will last the longest in storage. Be sure you don't smoke the fish right to the end, it will sometimes make the fish bitter. About 2 to three hours in the beginning depending on how thick the smoke is going. Then the drying process is all is necessary to get the finished product the way you like it. Hope this helps ya get started and don't be afraid of MUSKYBOB'S brine with the juice, or even Apple cider. It is very good, and will last a week in the fridge without troubles. Pack it loosely to breath moisture a bit. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  19. Rick, you definitely work hard to get your guys on fish. It's clear you are always thinkin outside the box when deciding about going offshore for steelhead and 2 yearolds that are less "moody"...LOL! [ Post made via Android ]
  20. Nice fishing Rick!..I made one trip to the west and off Johnsons deep for a steely target. I was tempted to go east for the stagers off the drop near the glass house and out east but decided on trying to fill in the center of the steelhead board with something over 13 lbs....9 lbs was the biggest of a dozen or so to the boat on Sunday. 21. I cannot trust a pre- rigged copper. I ran one out the first time and the knot was so HUGE. And just sloppy looking. Needless to say it got back home, fortunately in one piece, and I replaced the crappy knot with Cortland c-16 hollow core braid for a smooth wind on splice both for the backing and leader. If you don't have the hollow core patience, learn the way Rick does his cause he is a copper fishing fool!...but very good at it too! Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  22. Good job Shawn! I think I saw you pulling out at the ramp Saturday night. I was doing dinner with my son and future bride at the BNI. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Nice job Andy, sorry we missed,..thanks for the offer for your ride on the lake! I was glad to hear from you and that you got to camp at Golden hill. After getting my trailer fixed I managed only one day out there. Sunday my son and tcon Tom and his boy Dustin went out with us and we targeted Steelhead. We had near a dozen fish to the boat and lost a bunch including a strong run on a meat rig that lost the treble. When you talked to me once on the phone,... when we got a fish on, that turned into a double. Nothing really huge all day but a couple 8 and 9 lb steely. One king about 15 lb. 24. For your navigational intrest! There is SOMETHING under the water going out the EAST side of the breakwall and jetty pass. My prop got chattered up by a gremlin down there. Fortunately it is a stainless prop or I would have ended the day at the beginning of the day! This is only a 24 foot boat and outboard so if you come in use the west side pass. I was never having a problem going out east before this in countless passes. There should be a marker on what ever it is. The water is low but there should not be something in the pass less than 3 feet from the surface in any case with a port this size. Just remember....WEST SIDE IN AND OUT....safe boating everyone Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  25. 75% of the steelhead I have brought on board look malnutritioned...long and skinny...a couple that could not be revived were filleted and you could read the paper through the meat ...weight is way down on average from previous years..yes it is disturbing to a degree.
