  8. What ever it is, like Carl said they have been without it for more than a month. Their gas comes from Canada. In the past the NYS govt has been a thorn in the side of the natives for tax related issues on lots of things. What my observations are, contrary to the bottom line profits are, is that the station selling ethanol gas while I'm across the street on the reservation (both stations native owned) is that it is basically dormant. Customers at the one station with non ethanol outnumber the one with ethanol dozens to NONE! Profit for the station selling the non at even .005 cents over supplier is higher than the other even if the other sold theirs at .05 over supplier based on volume alone over time. It is the demand that drives the profit at a lower margin and at higher volume over time. Could just be a supply glitch with the brand from Canada (more likely, since the demand for ethanol free is high)...I don't think the govt is mandated on ethanol gas but they do have a suspicious trend in the actions of the sovereign territorial govt of the natives. I just hope it is temporary and if anyone goes to the Arrowhawk and finds the truth of presence of NON ethanol, please respond. I will likely be down there myself coming July 4 th and see for myself and let everyone here know what the real reason and outcome is. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  9. That is a huge difference....either you were trolling 3x to fast or something is wrong. Hang the ball at rest....read on sonar...get rigger counter and speed temp reading and compare. All should match. But get baseline from sonar for ball reading first. [ Post made via Android ]

  11. Judging from the weird look on my old buddy Art's face....and he is really old...no teeth. The sea fleas don't really taste that good. He was fishing the Sandy Creek Shootout with me last year, and he was 3 sheets to the wind. Well he got a little green gilled on the waves we had and was tossing his chips overboard and catching his false teeth as he yakked. Threw them biters down on the deck amongst the sea fleas and fish scales. When he put them choppers back in he almost hurled agin.... [ Post made via Android ]
  12. Don't matter the size of the boat, just the space ya got behind the boat. But if all ya got is 150 ft of 45lb copper then that's all ya can get out without the flea trouble. The braid is gonna grab fleas like crazy if ya put it the water too. My experience, and it was a long time ago was, that with a mag dipsey on copper it would plane down about a 2.4 to 1 ratio on a 0 setting so for every 24 feet of copper out you achieve about 10 feet of depth. 150/ 24 = 6.25.....multiplied by 10 is 62.5 feet of depth. You might experience a little more or less. 70 to 90 is not really possible unless you get the braid in the water and like I said .....flea city...not good. Maybe ya got another 50 ft of copper, and it would do it. But if ya got access to 30 lb malin 7 strand you would be much happier. None the less if you want to get down 70 to 90 a 400 copper will get you there all by itself. NO FLEAS. and it is not too much even for a kayak ....no million feet out [ Post made via Android ]
  13. Grab bag?....you musta grabbed mine...but I got a shirt for trolling with my zipper down... [ Post made via Android ]
  14. ...good fishin..and now you have learned the secret to no angry fly bites...you wear pants and tell yer buddies to come in shorts [ Post made via Android ]
  15. Wire is wire....if that's all ya got but no need for a dipsy if its 600 feet, and ya got the room behind yer boat. Just let it all out. Unless yer combat fishin then the dipsy will keep your copper in close and deep. However it is not common practice to do this....not sayin it doesn't work ....just ..well..It's ..strange in most cases, and why not keep the tackle at a minimum for better fight enjoyed at the rod. 18. Serving is key, I know it is tedious, but I try to get at least an inch wrapped as tight as I can get it. More is better. The reason I don't go beyond the hollow core onto the copper with the serving is that it tends to be slippery on the copper and it won't adhere to the copper with glue. The serving can actually work back and forth after many cycles on and off the reel if it is on the copper and the whip finish knot will come undone over time. If you can use a bobin and put the union in a jig to hold it in tension, the serving can be pretty easy to quickly wrap. I just do mine by hand and it is ok but it does require more finesse and patience. Thanks for the offer on the brew, would be good to chat for a bit....Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  19. Paul, what I have done in those pics is used glue to encase the serving. I have tried to just leave the serving as is but it will eventually come unraveled without some cement on it. I am assuming that if you lost the whole copper it came loose from the backing. Are you using the 80 lb hollow core on 45 lb copper? Did you run it up the copper at least 5 feet or more? Also when you serve it to the copper go from the hollow core towards the copper and stop serving right at the end where it meets the copper. I use at least 6 or 8 half hitch whip finish knots like on a trout fly head. Then apply the cement to the whole serving. In the pics the cement is actually gorilla glue, not the choice I usually would use but it works. For the serving I use 30 lb power pro braid. Also do you use a loop to loop connection on the other end of the hollow core or do you hook latch it back into itself. I just tie a perfection loop knot in the end of the hollow core and attach the backing with a double improved clinch knot in the braid backing to the loop in the hollow core. On the terminal end to the flourocarbon I do the same except the leader gets a perfection loop knot and the connection is a loop to loop there. Hope this helps, can't figure out how this could keep happening, I haven't had an issue except for the serving when it wasn't glued. Mark [ Post made via Android ]

  22. Well I know the Arrowhawk was non ethanol and they were getting gas from Canada, so maybe that has something to do with it. They aparently have not had any non lately. [ Post made via Android ]
