dipsey diver settings
skipper19 replied to Second Nature's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
You will not have a problem with dipsy settings at least 1.5 settings apart and at least 50 feet length apart. Long and wide on the outside forward rod. I think with wire your 3 to 1 ratio is a little off and it is more like 2.5 to 1 and sometime it is even steeper on a low setting like 0 or .5 . When setting out the dipsy make sure the first one is settled before the second goes out on the same side. Keep your speed going steady, and if the water is relatively smooth less than 2 feet you should have no problems. Turns are ok just don't do a really tight one without turning up the speed a half mile an hour or so. Keep the same size dipsy in your spread too. Mark PS...all this changes when a double on acrobatic steelies comes into play.....then you will run a high chance for FUBAR! [ Post made via Android ] -

Nice king Jeremy, that meat is a slow producer but can grab the big hogs most often. Sure takes a lot of patience to run the cut bait. Mark [ Post made via Android ] -

In the back of my mind I was alwaYs thinkin that the counters can't be right when the spool is not full. Thanks Ray for the research, it proves that in some cases repetition of a set that is working is your best bet on a good bite, ....on the other hand thinking the set is right based on the charts and the info from electronic devices, then not getting hits creates a big ?....drags work a lot better on fuller reels too. upload pictures This will work...wrap it around the ankles....lol [ Post made via Android ]

....actually I have had good results wearing high UV reflecting colors...like chartruese, or even good old bright white. Anything dark really attracts bitting flies.....in Tom FISHINMAN'S case...HOT PINK! [ Post made via Android ]

Urea might work......pee on yer feet...or someone's feet....heavy wool socks absorb the runoff too. On second thought, maybe the Old Time Woodsman Fly Dope might be more user friendly, and smelling like an old railroad tie might be better than the amonia/urea odor. fish blood?...sounds like a ritual sacrifice is in order [ Post made via Android ]
