  9. Hey you guys just gave me an idea, an alarm clock shaped like a level wind with a screaming drag...and screaming "FISH OOOooonnn!"....should be a hot seller on LOU. Test drive it on Tom....on second thought He'd prolly half wake up out of a trolling dream, knock the other half out of bed grabbing for the rod,..get ahold of the bed post, holler "here you take the rod..I'm not fighting that slimy thing"..... "That Laker".........oops [ Post made via Android ]

  14. Bob, do you think we could start a forum section for needy fishermen like me who could beg for enough money to buy a big Lake O boat, get enough cash for say..... camping, lodging, restraunts, groceries, snacks (CHEETOS), dockage, beer, fishing tackle, gas for the 8 mpg in the pickup, gas and oil for the big two stroke for 3 days of trolling, gas for the kicker motor, money to fish one of the derbys, enough to buy fishing licenses in state and out of state, registrations for trailers and boats along with insurance, and for self employed people who are overtaxed to get vacation pay? .....oh....did I mention beer money? ....then everybody could come join the MAYHEM.... 15. Yup, you need to be a member to see the reports, and it still costs way more than 20 bucks to put together a fishing trip, so it's not like it's going to attract a whole lot of long distance fishermen, except for the occasional weekend derby/tourney guys. Besides it helps the guys who travel to the lake once or twice a year to plan for their vacation, and that never guarantees the weather and waves to even be tolerable. I see no extra pressure on the lake more than usual. Heck the entertainment level is just as important to me, ....I can't even fish for the next three weeks due to my job, and I live 13 miles from THE OAK! leave it the same. Mark
  16. Set gps at 2.5 to start, I do this and troll a curving zig zag if you are going east west...with or against current...lots of times the inside or outside rod on a turn will get hit. Inside is slower outside is faster...adjust from that. Also rigger cable pulls bubbles down a good foot under the surface and rides down the cable when speed is fast enough....no bubbles...not fast enough. Troll north south to get more consistent water past the lure speed, as in cross current. The current changes day to day and from position to position. Once you learn the signs like e rabbitt said and use the all together you will dial in what fish want. It is the best you can do and is mostly a "SWAG" estimate. You can usually get down temp off the radio, if you listen or ask. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  17. hosting images This one came off the center rigger and port rigger 60 and 55 ft down last week. Then again on the opposit sides of the boat, 18 feet apart and 40 ft off the ball. Hard to believe these otherwise lazy fish could swim that fast! Last week I had to run 3 mph or better to stay off them for kings. Still got a lot of short hits from them. CRAZY! 20. Carl, I'm headed from Oklahoma and then to Georgia. I'll see if I can load up 3400 cubic feet of south west wind for ya and turn it loose on the way by to Saratoga Springs. I promise not to bring any of those twisters though. I don't like those from what I've witnessed so far this spring. Mark
  21. Funny, but I don't remember seeing a whole lot of posts of Niagara bar fishing this year so far. Up until this past weekend I thought it was kind of quiet from there unlike previous years....(Wilson west) I felt there were just as good of reports from Irodequoit, Sandy, and Point Breeze but there is no huge amount of boats around these ports. It's no secret that the salmon migrate from western basin towards the east when the bait moves. I feel the only real influx of boats fishing that area during the spring LOC is normal. It just so happens that the migration was earlier this year due to lack of ice on Erie and the warm weather we had during the month of March. This site has been here every year in the past with reports from the Wilson west to the bar and if anyone has paid any attention to the habits of the migration, they have come to learn that it may take a little time and money to travel to where the fish are. On the other end of the spectrum Oswego is more the mecca for Huge kings in the late summer, also because we know the migration habits. It's really not the internet ruining anything about the fishing in Lake O. Heck anyone could do that with the phone. Back in the Late 70's early 80's within 2 years after it was allowed the Salmon river was 3 deep bank to bank with fishermen snagging these fish. The internet had nothing to do with that, it was word of mouth, and it went all the way to Maine, Ohio, and Virginia.....OH and yes I believe it will last and be spread along the shore east as it is in usual fashion,... only more extreme in the quality quantity department. Mark
  22. Oh and have the trailer unladen when aligning and installing. [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Awesome report Rick. What was your gps speeds, near 3 ? Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  24. Wow Pete!...That is awesome!...beautiful vessel. I'd come help ya fish it up and spill a Shock Top on it anytime... Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  25. Outstanding.....speed, was what targeted kings better for me with spoons ..mostly slims doing close to 3 mph gps cross current...until the kings moved off the Oak. Then slow low for mud chicken. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
