I was in Oklahoma City a couple days ago and there is NON ethanol on almost every corner. Seems that the preponderance of older cars that last longer from the south has a force in the market. Hope we can get a better voice to our stations and get more non ethanol [ Post made via Android ]

yup, having an old piece of crap truck with a standard tranny and no good emergency brake with a wore out engine and no compression to hold in gear really makes for some bunghole tightening, specially when the vacuum booster leaks off and the brake pedal s l o w l y sinks to the floor.....HELP!...(my buddy Art's truck...not mine) Mark

Interesting, as I read the test method, a light goes on in my little brain cell. I wonder if for purposes of using the fuel in small quantities as for power equipment or for a trolling motor, why one could not use the water separation of the alcohol from the gasoline to an advantage and carefully drain the stratified water/alcohol mix off the bottom of a containment vessel with a visible petcock water separator attached to the bottom of the gas vessel. Thereby leaving a more pure form of gas in the storage can. I know it is not cost effective for large quantities but for small batches it could be offset by the savings on equipment failures. ........why are we always trying to undo the government mandates?.... hey the separator works on my Cat engine works the same way and takes water right out of the fuel and works fine. I remember the early 70's pollution control mandates that ruined the efficiency of our cars, I was forever unhooking and bypassing it all to get back to a good clean running engine. Now it really is hitting the pocket of all of us on behalf of all the EPA experiments! OHHHH, ANOTHER THOUGHT!....wonder if you could take the water/ alcohol mix that came off the bottom of the gas can and put it in a copper still and render it down to good whiskey with a little flavoring of peach or other fruit. Then there would be no waste. Buy your still here http://www.coppermoonshinestills.com/ ut oh what happened to my little brain cell?

Drum Oil & Propane - UNBRANDED 8776 Rochester Road, Gasport NY Ethanol-free octane ratings: 90 GPS coordinates: N 43.20016 W 78.53759 (entered by Andrew Drum) Available out front in the above ground 500 gallon tank labeled as non-ethanol gas. Don't use the dispenser, as that's regular 10% ethanol gas. Posted by Andrew Drum, February 21, 2012 8:09 CST That's on the south side of 31 not sure of the price. 500 gal above ground tank is not a lot of storage. [ Post made via Android ]

Actually its law that the ethanol in the gas has to be displayed on the pump but if there is no ethanol it will either say so or not because that is up to the operator to post it. There are no indications on the pumps at Arrowhawk, but I asked Wednesday night and they confirmed NO ETHANOL. my V 10 got 15.6 mpg for the 20 miles home compared to usual 11.5. http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=NY Mark [ Post made via Android ]

FISH IDENTIFICATION
skipper19 replied to Waynes World's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Also a good way to tell is the upper back end of the lip extends behind the eye of the brown trout and the upper back end of the lip on the atlantic is more directly under the eye. Mark free picture hosting Close up of Pauls mount he did shows the end of the upper lip in relation to the eye on the Atlantic -

Nope..matching color of flasher and fly or spoon to flasher is not a given rule. Matching speed however for the spread of lures action is critical though. Color is usually dependent on water clarity, depth of presentation and the color of the sky. Lure action across the spread is most important to trigger strikes. Mark [ Post made via Android ]

Well, I have not used the laptop for a nav unit, but if you can get a USB gps module of some kind, and have software to install for nav maps or charts, you should be able to get the program to recognize the gps hardware. If you have a broadband USB connection card for the internet, a lot of those have gps capability and will work with almost any mapping software if the match can be made. In any case you will first need the gps USB module and find mapping software compatible with it. Shop the internet for something like navionics for laptops and see if they already come with a USB module. Hope this helps [ Post made via Android ]

Diesel vs biofuel and my BIG truck...trucker math
skipper19 replied to skipper19's topic in Open Lake Discussion
They've got some real fuzzy math when it comes to the subsidy and federal tax paid at the pump by the consumer when purchased. I wonder what the senators in these states mandateing the bio diesel would say if you walked up to them and said, " Hey Mr. Senator/congressman would you have a dollar to give me and when I get some cash, I'll give you back .50 cents, OK?" Government pays 1 dollar subsidy to blenders to get it to compete with petroleum markets and then to get back .50 cents at the pump....huh...wonder why we have deficits? [ Post made via Android ] -

http://biodiversivist.blogspot.com/2010 ... bsidy.html Some intesting reading about how we are paying for our own demise of economy based in green jobs creation by you know who....the underlying truth ..the EPA IS LOOKING AWAY FROM OBVIOUS EMISSION OF CARBONS AND GREENHOUSE GASES....It's all about OUR money and nothing to do with renewable energy greatness. Diesel vs biofuel and my BIG truck...trucker math
skipper19 replied to skipper19's topic in Open Lake Discussion
There are trucks out there running on compressed natural gas now, and some truckstops are offering it as a fuel. I just don't understand why it keeps having to fall on our shoulders to use a fuel like bio fuel that can't compete in a market with petroleum without the government subsidizing it with our tax money and then taxing us again when It's sold....oh now I get it ...THEY WANT ALL OUR MONEY...THE GOVERNMENT!...did any one know that for every gallon of bio diesel produced the gooberment pays $1 dollar to the blenders to get it to sell? Deficit spending at its best. [ Post made via Android ] -
Lakebound, thanks for the reply and your service to the heavy duty engines. The injector failure was mechanical and was not an actuator failure. The engine was running rough and no codes were showing up. I asked what was the cause of the injector failure and asked if it was mechanical, then why did it happen? I have owned Cat since 1986 and never once had a failure of the injector mechanically. Could it be the use of some biofuel? The service manager at Milton Cat said it could be possible and that is the reason that Cat does not recommend fuel blended more than 5% (B5). I was running into pumps in four adjoining states that were promoting 20% bio blends. It was almost impossible to get away from it due to the amount of mileage in operation of the truck, and sometimes my shippers would load close to max gross weight 80,000 lbs and I would run the fuel low to stay legal. The worst set back was the injector trouble, the next was the -10 degree weather and the cloud point of the fuel. Lost a load due to parking at a motel in Wisconsin and the fuel gelled even with additive. The bio just does not respond to fuel conditioners like 100% fuel. So with that going on I avoid the biofuel like the plague. Sometimes I still have to get it because of running the tank low to keep legal weight but I get the absolute minimum and run Lucas fuel conditioner in it to help the cetane and combustion properties. Some btu replacement with Lucas helps keep the turbo boost up and keeps the engine running hotter exhaust to help drive the two stage turbochargers. Power loss is frustrating, and I like being the first to the top of the hill Luckily my Cat engine is one of the bridge models before the mandated filter regenerated systems. It has 805,000 on it right now and as I write this it is in the shop in Memphis getting exhaust manifold studs replaced but that is the first real engine problem with it. I would say that the injector damage was related to the bio based fuel just for the fact that it was right after and just before I stopped useing the B20 blend. I have since had no more injector problems. In another post I made a calculation of the use of bio compared with petroleum fuel and the stuff would cost me $16,000 more than regular fuel. That is in addition to the additives and the failures that I blame the bio on. Needless to say I would rather have that cash to stay in my pocket. I have to say I'm really worried about the direction of the transportation industry because of all this. Cat is out of the market, except for rebranding under international maxforce engine. I feel that Cat will eventualy come back with an engine for the class 8 trucks that will be the trend setter, but for now they are experimenting in Europe. I hope they come back soon, I bleed yellow when cut! ...and all these EPA red and green and grey motors are taking up valuable space for me to get my AC fixed, or get an alternator installed. shops are full of these things Mark [ Post made via Android ]

So you caught dinner.,what now? Coffin? Cooler? Live well?

I used to throw them in the box. But I think that bleeding them would help in the messy cleanup of the ice box and the fillet table, not to mention releive the lactic acid and taste fresher for consumption. [ Post made via Android ]
