  1. Happy days Rick keep those fish goin out there! I keep tryin to get Aunt Ethel ...84 years old ...to go. She likes to fish but scared of the boat and big water. It is fun to see the elders having fun themselves, hope its good for all of us at that age. Great report as usual! Mark [ Post made via Android ]

  6. Jeff, I used to fish the lake out of the Salmon river years ago. One of the setbacks with fishing that part of the lake is the distance you run to get the depth to target kings in mid August. If I was going to fish that area I would take a 270 to 290 heading. Run 4 miles to 100 feet of water and start your troll going on that heading towards 240 fow, that would be about 9 miles off shore, you might encounter steelhead out there as well. You will be north of Nine Mile point area. Check your down temp and don't be afraid to ask what the down temps are before going out. Check this site for recent reports. Some times you can get salmon very early morning before dawn, getting a sniff of the river in less than 80 fow. But the majority of fish at that time will still be well off shore. Look for pods of bait, hungry salmon will be near by. Look for changes on the surface in color or wave action indicating a temp break. Sometimes you can find floatsum in a hard break that will usually have good fishing in and around it. If you are a little mobile, it is not a big drive to Oswego (about 20 miles) where you might find more favorable waters and a little more info on here with the water conditions and good reports. A lot less boat ride to the deeper waters too. Just an option also in case the lake is rough with a west wind, sometimes it is better over there in the Oswego area. Best thing you can do is keep checking these forums for recent reports and try to go on those and some area info from the shops. If you were able to come west to the Oak, after the 24 th I could get out with you and your son and help you get on some fish. Try sending someone on here a pm that fishes regular out of Port Ontario, and maybe they could team up with you and get you on fish over there. Plenty of guys on here around Oswego I know would help if you wanted to try that port. Good luck and hope you get your son that first Lake O king! Mark [ Post made via Android ]

  17. I checked it out and that will work too, it is the same ingredient that slimy grimy has...OXALIC ACID...sounds bad but is really a natural byproduct of some foods we eat including tea leaves, rhubarb, nuts etc.....don't eat it though....ok don't let pets and kids eat it ...unless ...nope better not probably much cheaper than slimy grimy, but be careful not to rub it on the gelcoat...could be slightly abrasive, so dilute it in water and spray it on. don't let the wind blow it on you in your eyes or on shrubery.
  18. Bares beware ....OMGANOTHERSHORTFATBALDONE is goin in the woods...sneekin, crawling, sniffin old deer raisins... Darn!...coyote crap! [ Post made via Android ]
  19. Haven't seen any problems useing the powder form that you mix with water. Just apply and let sit for a minute just don't let it dry, you will have to reapply. Just rinse off with garden hose. No problem for the trailer if you rinse it off. You might get a little bit of white residue on the trailer but it wipes off easy. Rinse every thing good and you will have no problem. 20. I still think you have a place where air can get in the line to the pump inlet. If it sat for a while and the pump was able to push water out, I'm thinking that the water pressure from below the water line of your boat, where the thru hull fitting is, is able to displace air in the draw line and move on it own up the line over time. In that case it would seek a level the same as the level of surface that your boat is sitting in the lake. Then once the pump is drawing vacuum to replace the water pressure from the lake, it begins to pull air in somewhere above the water level of the lake. It's possible to have a bad pump too, but try to be sure you have intact inlet hoses and fittings, could be an O ring seal right at the pump, check for the vacuum at the pump inlet with your finger over the pump inlet hole first. If no vacuum I would try another pump. Hope this helps. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  21. Slimy grimy works real good on the yellow stains and water line. Mix with water spray on and wash off some stains might need a light scrub with a soft brush. It's oxalic acid but doesn't hurt the gelcoat if allowed only a few minutes to sit on it Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  22. Your pump should draw a vacuum and as long as the inlet is below water there should be water drawn to it. Check your hoses coming to the pump for air leaking in. If you can pull the hose off the intake side of the pump and put your finger over the hole you should get suction on your finger. You might have to put some water in the pump through that inlet hole to get vacuum and feel the suction. If no suction there at the pump there is a problem with the pump. If there is suction, reattach the inlet hose with some water in it, and check for suction at the next union down from the pump, usually at a ballcock valve that keeps the system from being open to the outside of the hull in case of failure. Keep checking back towards the thru hull fitting for suction until you isolate the loss of prime. Most of these pumps today are self priming but need good airtight connections all the way to the thru hull. Some pumps have a clear plastic filter element with a screen you can clean out if that is the problem. [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Frickin drug addicted turds .....get that wall up down south fast and electrify it....land mines on the sides. Everything is at risk even with a lock on it. You wouldn't believe the crap I see and have happen out here on the road drivin the big truck.....too many stories to tell , all true and disturbing to say the least. It's sad when you can't trust your fellow human being anymore. [ Post made via Android ]
  24. Don't forget to check your trailer too when you come back from fishing. Some one stole my hairpin on the hitch . Didn't notice till got home. Good thing was a short drive home. Now have a locking hitch pin. Lights come up missing too. Mark [ Post made via Android ]
  25. Keep a bottle of antiseptic on board for that....Yukon Jack, pour a capfull over the wound, drink the rest, find a wooden plug (remove hooks) bite on it , depress hook away from barb, yank hook with line tied to bend. Truely not good, ...the er will just poke another hole in the area to get the same effect...a morphine patch between the eyes could be effective too...hope he's gonna be ok...keep antiseptic on it.
