  1. Congrats! Thanks for posting for us vicarious fishermen!
  2. This was the first fish of the day. We didn't even have all the rods out and the rigger parked at 120 pops. That first/last light bite is key right now! Had a great time fishing Wayne!
  3. Nice report Nick
  4. We angled across to the west side and there we did not see any floating patches. Just a few single weeds here and there.
  5. Launched at 5:30 out of Sampson and motored out toward the barge. Fished from 400-500 FOW just to the north of the Barge. The west side is where we took all our hits. Most hits were on the rigger parked at 75 with a NK 28 Blue Dolphin spoon. Finished 4/8 (had some short hits on the riggers and lost one on the wire). Wire out 300 on a #3 setting took a 6# laker. We boated 2 lakers and 2 19" Salmon. Decided to fish the big lake tomorrow. Tightlines everyone!
  6. I run 10ft of 40lb mono from my power pro backing to a spro swivel then the copper connects to that. You can see any problems with the mono section a heck of alot easier than you can with the braid. I have lost a few riggs with just the braid but I haven't lost one yet with the mono. I dont know how the mono would get tore up on the copper. I get no more twist in my copper now that I use the swivel at the backing and the leader end. Sean Thanks! I ran it twice (once on Ontario and tonight on Seneca). No takers yet. Hoping to break it in tomorrow on thebig lake! I'm thinking I'm going to add the mono. Frank in Oswego (Home Office) uses it too and I've never seen him have a problem either.
  7. Nice report Sean. I'll be out of Sampson tomorrow evening. Hopefully I'll find a few of your leftovers! I got a question about your copper set-ups. I just picked up my first copper rig. (500 ft). I watched a guy lose his copper on the big lake trying to pull the braid out of the release (snapped). I've seen other guys put a piece of mono between the copper and braid backer to put in the release. Others say that's bad because the copper will tear it up on the reel causing abrasions and they'll lose it anyway. Was curious how you have your's set up?
  8. Nick, I may be on the water Saturday on 68. Was planning on going to the big lake but temp's aere all goofed up and I'm not excited to drive just for browns. A friend's brother is coming up from PA this weekend and I told them we'd do a Fri. Night and Saturday am trip.
  9. I usually hang on channel 8 up there. There may be a heavy south wind Saturday and t-storms....here's hopin the forecast changes! I'll probably launch out of Sodus.
  10. Thanks for the report Kevin! I have a couple friends coming up to fish this weekend. Might do Seneca on Friday and The big lake Saturday.
  11. I've been fishing Seneca for 30 years andhave caught 3 Lakers over 10 pounds. They are not that common. When you do catch a bigger fish, mark a waypoint. Big lakers school with big lakers.
  12. Ouch! How deep were you fishing? I was supposed to fish yesterday but had to cancel. What did you see for temperatures? Wondering if those North winds flipped Seneca too.
  13. Nice goin Hans! Glad you got some good fishin time in with your brother.
  14. Surface temp was 74deg from 120 to 250fow. [ Post made via Android ] Good news! Thanks!
  15. Curious to see your findings. I heard a rumor of surface temp in the 40's all the way to 500 FOW!?
  16. Way to go Rabbit! I'm going to be out for an evening trip Sat. in your neck of the....lake. Launching at Sampson and picking up a staff member and his son from Freedom Village at the Dresden launch. I'll be on 68
  17. ...and so it begins!
  18. Good report! Reminds me of fishing with my dad. One time we were pulling some sticks off the planers and before the rod popped you could see the fish jumping behind the boat. He grabs the rod and starts pumping and reeling like he has a 800# blue-fin Tuna. Next thing I know there's a stickbait flying by my head and lands on the dashboard with the lips still attached! I had to laugh when he turns around with the "What happened" look on his face! A lot of people don't get the opportunity to fish with their dad so make the most of it!
  19. I'm going to be a "chump" and bow out again! Camping with the family at fairhaven. I'm sure i'll sneak out for a couple short am trips. Have fun everybody and good luck!
  20. Looks like you were trolling pretty fast!
  21. Sounds like a fun trip!
  22. Thanks for the report Jason! Glad to hear the boat is doing good. I'm headed out of Sodus Sat am...I'll prob have a seat bc I had a guy cancel today. Give me a ring.
  23. Welcome back!
  24. Yep. Those Scotty net minders are sweet for that. They cost between $6 and $11 depending where you buy them. I need to get 1 for each diver rod and one for my net! http://www.scotty.com/fishing-gear-equi ... minder.htm Did you see the fly rods they are trolling with in the picture on that website? THAT would make things interesting!
