  1. My contribution: Only made it out for a few hours Sat am due to family in town. 8# 4 oz 7# 14 oz 7# 3 oz 6# 12 oz 6# 4oz Way to go Paul!!!!!! I was amazed at each of my 3 daughters' birth. Glad wife and baby are doing well!
  2. LOL! That's a funny story! Sounds like you hit the jackpot with that one!
  3. Excellent report and great pics!
  4. Way to go Nick! I've seen guys use rubber bands around the wire to the handle so they can leave the drag super loose. I've been thinking of doing that because I lose about 20 % of wire (Laker) hits. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  5. Nice footage! I think you were in violation of the "No Wake" rule! Glad you made it safe!
  6. Hit the North End with my friend Josh from 5-8 am. Went 10/13 all lakers. Just the two of us so I ran 2 riggers and two wires. Best depths for us were 60-80 down over 70-100 FOW Glow frog on the rigger took most of the fish but we did get a few on the wires. Cell Phone pics came out a little blurry...All fish were released for another day.
  7. That a way! Dave and Gerry are a lot of fun to fish with!
  8. I think I have a spool in the shed I could part with but not sure of a source for new wire.
  9. You fishing the Taughannok area? For some reason I don't see many in other parts of the lake.
  10. Now THAT'S funny! That's crazy! I seriously don't know what I would have done. Did they cover that in Captain's school?
  11. Way to go guys! I can't wait to get out there! This is what we've been waiting for! Hopefully the winds stay somewhat stable and don't chase them out of here!
  12. Sounds like a good day with the fam!
  13. Reminds me of when I was that age. My dad would take a buddy of mine and myself out for lakers. My buddy had never fished and his dad wasn't around so he really valued that time. Turned out he caught the fishing bug and just e-mailed me about a month ago to say he got his guide license in Maine. Great post! Happy Father's Day!
  14. Not so crazy after I thought about it a little longer. I store my rods assembled most of the time in my garage and hook the swivel to the keeper. 9'6" *2= 19' minus the foot or so to the hook keeper and there's my 18 ft. It must have created a weak spot at the line spooler. I'll definatly start reeling them up to the tip.
  15. What a great day! Good job!
  16. Looks smaller than it is because he's holding it behind him. Pulled a few on the green dolphin spinny
  17. I usally hook to an eye on the upper half (runnin 9'6" Daiwa Heartlands) and break down the rod. The crazy thing was that it was at 18 ft. I was thinking I need to let all the wire out and reel it back up...If you let go of the swivel the wire will coil from the memory of the reel. Do you guys find re-spooling helps that at all? The only pic I snapped this am..poor Chris with the look of dissapointment. The fish came unglued as I snapped the pic of him reeling it in!
  18. Got out with a friend from work from 5-9 I started with the blue showtime spinny and pole dancer fly that was hot last night and a NK 28 blue dolphin spoon on the rigger with a blue/green Alpena diamond for a slider on the starboard The port was all white (Goto stuff for AM bite) Double crush glow spinny/ glow fly and Moonshine flounder pounder with wonderbread slider on the rigger. The blue side started to go right off the bat. Chris had a blast reeling fish! We finished at 9:00 8/14 all lakers although we lost a couple slider hits that acted like landlocks. We lost a BIG laker at the back of the boat...once he hit the surface and started thrashing the wire broke...he's probably pretty tired swimming with my dipsy, flasher and fly! I'm on the 3rd year on my Mason 7-strand and am noticing I get an occasional fray or weak spot. I reeled the line counter into 18 to see where it broke...anyone else have any experience like this? How often does the stainless wire need replacing? All-in-all a fun trip and a good time on the water...It was good talking to Jason out there too! The rest of my weekend is pretty full so you guys will have to put 'em in the boat!
  19. You do a good job putting smiles on your clients faces! Way to go!
  20. Met my dad at the launch around 4 and fished until 9. Let me just say that we had a blast! We boated 8 fish and lost at least that many! I lost a lot on a fly that had a lone single hook so I started to tie a treble when the rigger parked at 55 over 110 popped and before my dad could say "Whoa!" the starboard rigger popped and a 6# 10 oz landlock was dancing behind the boat. He managed to get around the downrigger and started to go for the kicker...I missed the first net attempt but got him on the 2nd...I have no idea how we got that fish in the boat but we laughed about it for quite awhile! The fish seemed to prefer blue tonight. The first four hits came on a Blue Showtime Spinny on the wire (2 1/2 setting out 180-210). We worked from 60-120 FOW ...most hits came 80-110 FOW and 50-70 down. The temp break was about 40-50 down. My dad was getting tired from reeling in so many fish. I had to laugh because one time he sat down on a cooler and started to say "I'm getting tir...Rigger!" and up he jumped to reel in another! Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there this weekend and tight lines! I'll post some pics later.
  21. If you turn into the wire it will drop because it isn't pulling as hard. Was the Dipsy still on a 2 1/2 setting when you reeled it in? Maybe the tension screw wasn't set right. I use the Walker Deeper Divers and they are somewhere between 2.5:1 and 3:1 On the fingerlakes there are some steep shelves so the depth finder may reed 100 FOW but the dipsey on the shore side is only in 40 FOW....but I don't think there are any shelves up there in Oswego but I don't know the lake very well up there.
  22. Nice Fishin and escellent report! Thanks!
  23. I had a tree fall on the boat over the winter. Took out the middle window that opens to the bow. Geneva Glass cut a piece of Lexan and installed it into the frame for $30. Sounds like a good trip! (except for the ride home!)
  24. 6# 14 oz 5# 4# 8oz 2# 11 oz 2# 10 oz I better go back to fishing Seneca!
