Stopped by the Chamber on my way home from an errand and the concrete dock that leads to the floating dock is a 1/2" above the waterline. It looks launchable.

It was a great trip and I'm looking forward to kicking off the LOC derby on Friday.

Lil Jake - Cayuga - Seneca Cup this year?

I like this idea because I do fish with friends on Cayuga from time to time. Count me in for team Seneca! -
Way to go Wayne!

I have enjoyed reading this thread. Had to laugh at the first poster! I'd never fault anybody for keeping a few for the grill. I'm certainly thankfull for the guides that post here and have learned a lot from them. I think the main issue with the landlocks is that those juvi's can be an easy way to boost the daily take for the sake of bragging rights. I'm as competitive as the next guy but agree that a few less numbers today can mean better fishing tomorrow. My experience on Cayuga (mid-summer) has been that the juvi's come on the sliders and shallow lines. It's pretty easy to adjust those lines. If they come on the deep lines then sliding out is obviously the thing to do. Thanks to all who have posted.

That was a fun post to read! Nice job!

Got to love a good shake-down cruise with fish!

Sean, How deep is that side imaging effective? I hadn't thought about picking up baitfish off the sides of the boat but that would be valuable information for sure. Does lowrance specify the angle of the signal? (I'm wondering if you can gauge how far to one side or the other the baitfish are so you'd be able to adjust your depth accordingly.) -Jason

Maxwell claimed my favorite Alpena Diamond a couple years back. I've yet to find that color pattern to replace it. It was one of those spoons that had the teeth marks scraped down both sides....A moment of silence..... I look forward to your report! -

A coworker checked the Coast Guard Launch on Thursday and said it's open to the channel...he said they were still ice-fishing on the other side of the bay. I thought about giving it a go on Saturday but think i'll hold off another week. -
I live in between the lakes at the North end and enjoy trailering to both. Personally I think Seneca is tougher fishing...but I like that better. It's a challenge once in awhile to figure out what will get the fish to move when they are being finicky. If I were to host some friends that had kids who were set on consistant action I would (voice gets lower) go to Cayuga...but my heart would be on Seneca!

Great Post! I'm starting to get the springtime itch!

Went fishing today for the first time in over a month! Trolled from 8-10am and went 3/4 ...2 were small and one 8 #er. Surface temp was a balmy 74 deg from all that south wind. Fish were scattered around 110 FOW and I didn't mark any bait. Released all fish so I didn't get any pics. The 270 wire on a 2 1/2 setting with Mtn. Dew Spinny and hammer fly fired, Flounder Pounder spoon fired twice parked at 90, and the stinger greesy chix wing fired at 90. The new engine for the big boat showed up so now the work begins! Not sure I'll make the fall LOC with the break-in period and such. Jason

LOL BlueGhost! TFRAZ- Welcome to the board! These guys are right on and catch a lot of fish! If you are using your depth finder in "10-70 FOW" just keep in mind you are marking a variety of fish species. Just getting started I would take Chowder up on his offer. There is so much to learn that can help you be more productive. That being said, I know sometimes it's fun discovering what works on your own...but that can be frustrating if not productive. I remember when I first started trolling, a Northern King brand spoon in a size 28 and Watermelon color pattern did pretty well for me on the fingerlakes...It was a cheap place to start. One tip I learned from this board was to Zig-Zag from time to time and if you got a hit on your outside rigger, you need to "pick-up" your speed as that one would be going faster....If the inside then obviously the oppositte is the case. There are a lot tricks/tips like that from a great bunch of guys here. I hope the frustration turns to excitement when you are trying to figure out how to net 3 at once! Tight Lines!
