  1. thanks stinger, but that's a bit too far north. We're going up to a place near poplar beach just for the day on Sunday (with the kids), and coming up from the south end of the lake. I've lauched out of Taughannock before, but even that would be too much time in transit on the boat for the kids and the wife to justify bringing the boat up. If I can get to a lauch that's 15 to 30 mins away by boat, and close enough that she can drive the trailer back without me, then she'd bless it - otherwise I'll be boatless!! I thought about long point cause that's close by water, but then we'd have to drive all the way up the east side and then she'd have to drive the trailer and kids back down and up the west side - then repeat the process at the end of the day - I know that won't fly! Fishing is all about weather permitting and wife consenting... Thanks,
  2. Anyone know where I can launch that's near interlaken, or a bit north of there, on the west side? I'm going up this weekend - thanks!
  3. What's a "BTI"? You seem to be having some good luck out there at a time when most of us have been doing terribly! Any advice you can give us? Great to see the grandkids having so much fun - that's what it's all about!!
  4. Ray- I think you're being a little harsh on the catherine valley trail. I mean, in 10 or so years when that thing opens up I'll be able to park my car in the post office at veteran on rte 14, walk over that gorgeous steel bridge to Millport, by some "antiques" and then lug them all the way back to my car. Thanks to this project, that area will be thriving in no time, and I'm sure with the increased foot traffic, there will be much less trash thrown in and around the river....
  5. i may have to offer up some more money to the fishing gods and invest in some wire, as it seems many like that rig. Right now we're running PP/braids on different sized dipsies on all the settings. We did take Ray's advice and use a smaller spoon (watermelon) on a #3 setting up higher, and that took our only fish the last time out, but 1 fish in 5 hours just ain't cuttin' it...
  6. Personally, I've never taken a laker on a flasher/fly, but that hasn't stopped me from trying! I'll always have a green/green crinkle or a white/white out, but I use full size off the riggers, and haven't taken much off the riggers ever, so I've just started to use a dipsie with a smaller greeen spindoctor/fly, but even that hasn't produced yet. Maybe smaller, like RR is using, and higher up, is the way to go... RR - what lake are you runninng out of? I've been out on Seneca only a few times this year, but they've been spanking me! I think the concensus from a lot of guys is that this year is a lot slower than most, for whatever reason....
  7. I've never fished Keuka, but have been consistently striking out on Seneca lately  , so I thought I'd give it a try. I'll be staying at the state park on the north end of the west arm of the lake with the kids in mid July - Can anyone give me some advice/tips on where to go / what's working? (I troll). Thanks!
  8. The drink holders of course!!
  9. That's what we saw too - tons of bait, but no fish with it. That maybe tells me that we went out too late and missed the bite, but in years past it often seemed like we'd fish all morning and only have luck as we were getting ready to pack it in for the day...
  10. Fished south end Sun AM from 7-12 using everything in the box and came up with nothing. Found a ton of bait around in 60-80 ft of water, but couldn't get anything going. Tolled north/south and south/north on both sides, up past the salt plant and back down in 60-120 ft. Used flashers (8" green spindoctors), dodgers (green crush, white), spoons clean and on flashers/dodgers and used about every color except orange crush, flies (green crinkle) and even threw in a perch rapala for good measure. Downriggers with sliders and dipsies on all three settings thoughout the day. Speed was from 1.5 to 2.3. Nothing worked. From what it looks like, it's been slow for everyone, but is anyone having any luck? Have they moved up the lake? If anyone's going out next Sat. AM I'd love to hook up over the radio or at the launch and maybe get something working!
