If you want lakers, yes spin doctors 8 inch green/ white/ mtn dew are all good in combination with similair flies. If fishing them deep go with glow on them. Lakers you can slow right down to 1.7 and up to 2.5. Look for the big lakers below 48 degrees, you'll catch more but generally smaller above 48 degrees. If you drop below 2mph your pretty much just fishing for lakers and ruling out the silver fish. Spoons off your riggers deep work as well on days when flasher/fly are not getting it done.

I have a bunch of Military Brass which is the equalivent to 308 brass. It is great for reloading. I also have a bunch of ammo cans. Let me know.

For me this trip was great - we caught fish and laughed often sometimes at the others expense. I actually found myself sitting back just watching the show. "it was worth the price of admission". I thank both of you for the great day. I was also glad to share the experience of 5ooft of copper with both of you. Once I get my rig out your both welcome anytime.

good to see that "gas" money being injected back into society!

Just wanted to pass along that C&S Marine in Vestal is having an open house Friday March 11 through Sunday March 13. I started using him to make a few repairs/ upgrades to my boat and to be honest he is great at what he does. His prices are more than fair and we will always steer you in the right direction. He is 100% out for the customer and return business- not just for his pocket like so many we deal with. I think he is serving burgers and dogs.

I can not believe our state. Stepping over dollars ($100's) to pick up dimes. Plan and simple solution. Allow the natural gas industry to start drilling in NY. Towns/ counties /states should all lease every acre of land they have. Yes put restrictions where drilling will occur and protect the beauty of the land. But start taking advantage of the money we are literally standing on. Stop trying to find these foolish taxes that compromise the reason we live in the USA.

Frisco: I'm in. Unfortunately, my computer literacy stops as soon as I log off the LOU. I'll see what google says and if Landscaping fisherman can figure out how to set up a mailbox

My 2 cents. Drive the extra 6 miles up the east side or west side of cayuga. taughannock or Myers pt. The money you spend in gas coming out of the channel on cayuga will by far out weigh the fuel usage of your vehicle a few miles up the lake. Those two marinas put you in good position for mid lake runs in the summer if you feel necessary. I only run as far as necessary. I am partial to cayuga and I think you will get more days on the water on cayuga. the shore line shape gives you long runs on the leeward side of a point when the wind howls. Besides how could you go wrong hanging out with guys like Spiltshot/lil jake/ lyteline/rustyrat/playin hookey/joysea/ and so on. I am not a guy who hauls my boat from lake to lake. Once it's in the slip at Finger lakes marina on the south side of Myers Pt. It only sees shore for a break down or season end. If you want a referal for F L Marina let me know. The owner is super to deal with.

I agree with the more lure action associated with blow back but conversely, I also run close to the bottom during certain times of the year. I like to know where my balls are in relation to the bottom, ideally I like to see them on my fish finder but if not I prefer to run less blow back. Longer leads will gain more action.

shark weights in 12 or 15 works excellent for me.

Jason I agree. His new stuff like the razors are Fast spoons. You have to be over 2.5 to get them to go. His older spoons like the super-lites are much speed forgiving I can run them down to 1.9 and they work. Basically put the narrower the spoon and flatter cup the faster you go. Last summer I experimented with a camera on my rigger- ran numerous spoons down 20ft and watched the action. You would be surprised how crappy some of these spoons run at different speeds. I hate to say it but my logs are the only thing allowing me to keep everything straight. Here is a Tip to post originator. If one spoon is working stick with that spoon manufacturer don't be tempted to try to match color often times it's the action that triggers the fishes response not the color.

Sean, How about a picture of the spoon blank? Keep your secret color a secret. PM me if your looking for someone to paint the blanks. I have excellent luck with a guy in PA.

Andy, I fish R&R spoons religiously. They do catch fish. Not to knock Dave but I really like his older spoons. I am not a fan of the razor spoons, I just could not get them to go last year. I did get a few of his "hot colors" according to a few guys on the board painted on older blanks and they worked. Personally I think it is the individual boat phenominon as Zeke from strike three explains. Some boats catch fish on certian lures and other don't. I think you need to find out what lures work best for you. Me personally I have my go to lures: Green/ Glow/ Orange/ Purple/ Chrome and Brown& Yellow are all good. Red also certian times of the year.

Dave only a pm away. I've been doing a lot of exploring this winter finding new waters around the house. I get excited when I am the one breaking a trail to an isolated lake or pond. I pulled the 16ft'er out of the snow and into my shop. It will take three days to melt the ice out and I may be old school'in it by the end of the week on cayuga. Can't wait to get the summer ride into the slip. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
