Scott - how is the turn out for this one? I see we have a pretty good buzz on site regarding it.
-
we appreciate everything Scott does for the future of our sport. And maybe it is time for some of us to step and assist Scott w/ all his tournament ventures. I am in for anything you need.

We fished out of fair Haven this past Sat Morning in my 23ft larson. It was fishable but there was 6 ft rollers all day w/ the ocassional larger one. It all comes down to what you enjoy. we had a 16ft boat fishing near us and he was nervous w/ his boy. He ended up picking up when we did and following us in. it was no problem just makes you appreciate sea legs.

I run 2.1 to 2.3 at the ball. And yes our silver we're quality. 2 bows over 5lbs, 3 browns between 7 and 9.6 and 1 LL over 5 lbs. We tossed back alot of legal fish around the 18 to 21 inch range. Once we found them we stayed on them and actually left due to other commitments before the fish turned off. I won't tell you the exact spot but I will say you can find easily around sheldrake, it's just getting your presentation in front of them consistantly. truly one of our better days. Cheryl really loves it when our riggers fire more then the dispey. It was great watching those fish jump behind the boat. Rollie, I have Dave painting a few truly odd spoons that have been working for us. when you talk to him ask him about the "west river style" and mention anitfreeze. It is one ugly spoon but it catches tons of fish on the cheaters. John

Rollie, I agree we had a great day on Sat as well. We made the mistake of continuing past the red can and it was just a parking lot of weed pods. We bailed on the east side after a while and ran a deep water program across the lake and gradually moved shallow on the west shore. Found a ton a good silver fish north of rocky dock around sheldrake. Same depths. I agree w/you on the razor spoons but I can not get that golden walleye to fire to save my life? The Pink and Purple walleye pattern catch fish on our boat. we started off in deeper water for lakers just to put a lakers in the boat for the Cayuga cup. Once we had decent ones it was fishing for a silver fish for the cooler. Hopefully my findings will hold for two weeks till the Light House. mower

HAppy Anniversary. Nice fish and yes we had the same problem in the pre-dawn Sat. You know it a big pod when your kicker motor chugs as the weeds get chopped up. We'll be back on Cayuga next weekend for the light house . Mower

Lil Jake - Looks like a slim turn out? I'm picking the boat up at the shop tomorrow - hopefully she's running 100%. Worst case the kicker will get me around.
-
Myers PT has a town park in Lansing -Right at Harbor Fest Location Or Tuaghannock is just a short drive across the lake.
-
Scott. Is there anyway to do alittle advertising for Dave on this. I know he plans on donating spoons again? Let me know of you need any help? Did you get the pictures? Mower

Well I guess all the super secret weapons need to come out so we can close the deal early and I can avoid pulling the rig over to Seneca. I'm in for this Sat. No commitments for a change to limit fishing time. Catch all you guys on water. Mower

I agree RR. Personally I use 15lb balls - the heavier- the more true they run. Shop around you pretty good on the classified forum. The rule chowder mentioned is a great rule to start off w/. Total line out plus total line deep should equal 100. great starting point. Green is always a good place to start. I run glow till about 9:00 am on my high presentation then switch depending on what the sky is doing. You can run glow deep 70 ft down or more. I like alot of different colors dpending on the cloud cover or lack of? bright sun = silver, cloudy bright colors, partly cloudy I run natural colors. I'm on Cayuga most weekends if you want some pointers on what's putting fish in the boat.

I have a Larson w/ a mercruiser alpha1 generation 1 i/o recently I've been experiencing the following: Boat idles great has a fair amount of hesitation at mid throttle range ( almost bogs and then catches up) and then runs great up to full throttle. Here's what I'm noticing, not achieving max RPMs and have lost 6 or 7 mph on top end? Heres what I've done:new water seperator -even though old filter had no water in it, new plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor. along w/ routione fluid changes. I don't think this is an ethanol issue for it runs great at idle. I checked butterflys in the carb and she is fully open at full throttle? Compression is good through all 8 cylinders, only one cylinder is down 5 compared to the others. Any advise is appreciated.

Ken, Let me know how you like the slide diver? I must say that when something works I have a hard time switching. The dispey for me catches a ton of fish. But I am curious of the pros and cons. Keep me posted. John

Frisco , I like the seven strand, I get it from Big Lake Outfitters. I only take the dipsey/flasher/fly off when I absolutely have to. I run a piece of velcro around the rod to keep the dipsey is place and another piece around the flasher and the rod. I run alittle longer leader between dipsey and flasher so I can loop the line around the reel and run the flasher/fly back up the rod to a guide. I have had two kinks in three years. You may also want to make sure one of your ball bearing swivels isn't hanging up alittle causing more line twist than you need. And again, nice job. We were weighing fish and Cheryl says to me "your going to feel like a piece of crap if you take the trophy from the kid". Then she says "maybe we shouldn't have thrown those 18-19 inch rainbows back"? I couldn't win yesterday she basically told me I'm a looser no matter what I did!!!!!!!!!!! Got love it when your loved ones keep you feeling about 3 feet tall. All in all a great day though. For Cheryl and I this is our quality time, we both work hard and long hours all week and just enjoy catching fish.

Great Job Guys. Today is definitely a day he will never forget. We had a blast out on the lake even w/ all the chaos. I won't go into details but I have a few evening projects for the boat as well as some $$ to spend before she's ready for next weekend. Great to see a youth out there, I know my nephew loves going when he's in town. The smiles are truely the future of our sport.

I'll explain more of my program and let you alter yours to it (if you want). Although I run a down speed and temp unit, your speed seems slow to me. My GPS Speed is normally about .8 mph faster than my down speed. I like to run 2.1 to 2.3 so I'd say kick up your speed.. Another thing to consider is your actual depth of your riggers. I typically run spoons clean w/ cheaters off my riggers - minimal blow back so your achieving max depth out of your rigger. Years ago a good gage is to put your rigger down 70ft and slowly work your way shallow and see where you tick bottom. That will tell you about how much blow back your experiencing. I also run my leads longer than most 21 to 24 inches behind S/D. And depending on what the fish want I run longer leads off my rigger balls as well. I start around 60 ft back and start shortening if nothing goes. Your boat is fine, I troll w/ a 9.9 kicker or my V8 I/O. Don't worry about the noise, it bothers you more than the fish. Feel free to PM me and I'll answer any questions.

Heads up to all: I spoke to our LOCAL SPOON PAINTER- DAVE of R&R SPOONS - mytacklebox.com. He has graciously called me and asked if he could donate some spoons as prizes for our Tournament. This was an un-solicated donation from a great producer of spoons. I'm sure if you ask Rollie -Final Flight on the Blue Bubble he will tell you what he caught fish on during the last LOU-All. I fish R&R spoons all the time and they catch fish after fish. Dave is in the middle of another update to his website, I got a sneak preview and again I am pumped to fish some of these new patterns. Dave has been donating prizes to numerous tournaments for a few years now and I think's it time for us to give him a big pat on the back. Support our local businesses and check out his site- you won't be disappointed. Mower I have no financial interest in R&R spoons just like to see a local business succeed when they step and donate to the community.

RR. Come on now it's the american way to go deep into debt. Just think that new boat could be yours for a mere $79 bucks month for the rest of your life. but I agree w/ you, were trying to pay off her SUV and soak some money for a cottage that eventually will be our primary residence.

can you post a picture of your boards w/ 2 keels. i love running my big boards but they don't pull hard enough w/ 500 or 600 copper
-
RR. We actually trolled the edges of it just for kicks. Diving in and out of it like a mud line, couldn't tell you if it was more productive or not, but we caught fish doing it. It did add a new dimension to trolling deeper water. Mower

Nice Fish. That is definetely a once in a life time. We put alot of fish in the boat and had a great time. My nephew reeled in his share of fish along w/ us adults. We lost 4 big fish to broken line on out cheaters? I'm not sure what went wrong but the whole remaining spool of 12lb Florocarbon went in the trash can. We were knocked of the board on Sunday except for the Youth division. I told my nephew 5 isn't bad, he just excited to come back in August when Uncle John will take him to bass pro and on another tournament. Good times for all. Mower out. -

I can suggest a fab shop down here in Vestal NY. I have taken everything under the sun to them and no problem. You'll probably have to do the paint work after yourself, but they'll do it right. PM me and I'll pass along the info. Mower -

Tom, one business owner to another. That is a great problem to have. Always glad to see someone succeed in business. Mower -
Lava, that's the best report yet. everybody- you'll have to excuse my warped sence of humor this week. I literally screwed my self making last weekend a long one resulting in craming 5 days worth of Landscaping work into 4. The heat is killing us. I've had two guys go home puking up water by days end. But the end is in sight. Friday at 5:00 I'm packing it in and heading for the lake. I don't use the reports on this board to chase other guys out of there spots, I catch enough on my own and w/ some un-conventional approaches at times. Personally I enjoy reading them and being able to picture some you in my mind actaully catching the fish or untangling the bird nest you describe. Hopefully no was offended by quiet comment. I just thought it was funny and note worthy. Mower

DButts, "i got out on cayuga on tue. 6-6. nothing to report", personally I try to report w/ in the same week, not a month after the fact. Just kidding buddy but an FYI were in July now and the Red Cross Derby is this weekend. Sorry I'm in a ball busting mood w/ the heat I have to work in today.
