  1. Try around crowbar , sheldrake and long point w/ crawfish. fish them from the weed edge out to 35 feet on the steep drop offs of the points. It can be tough w/ the wind but we have caught alot of fish in the past that way this time of year. Great fun to catch smallmouths on ultralight light rods. Catch me at the marina sometime, maybe I can help w/ your trolling presentation. We are a few spots west of the gas pump. Can't miss us, the small boat (23ft) inbetween two 30 plus boats. 2. Rollie, hope you kept all your fingers filleting those lakers. I am so glad they can go to good use. I had told cheryl my co-caption as she likes to be called. I hate to take these home and bury them in the garden. After seeing what came in last saturday I think we got a making for a fun weekend ahead. Rollie I know those R&R spoons are treating you well as they do me as well. Catch up w/ me sometime I'll show you some of my hot patterns that dave does not advertise. Mower
  3. Chowder, I hadn't even given much thought, we run a pretty tight pattern around t-falls to attempt to grab a brown on the structure and not loose a rigger weight or dipsey. the shallow water is no big deal if you didn't push us in I would have challenged my luck anyway. And to everybody when running two man crews like we do alot goes on when a fish hits, as long as the intention is not malicious in nature I say keep fishing and by reeling in a rod it is one less you question to have weeds on it. To everybody a few of us me and I'm sure others run copper down the chute or off boards, give us some room, if I have 500 copper behind the boat and catch another guys rigger, you know how much $$ I just lost. And I will probably make an effort to express myself so you understand not to do the same thing. Reason I mention this is it happened two weeks ago and I only lost the S/D and fly but I was nervous on where I was going to break off. And thanks to Scott and Barney for the informal tournament, it was fun and it's got me thinking that next weekend is going to have alot of big fish coming in.

  5. I'm in. I think this could be alot of fun. I mainly keep my rig on cayuga in the marina but hey I have been known to drive long distances in search of fish. I think a monetary prize should be figured in, lets keep it affordable w/ maybe a set amount per week for the guys fishing also an end of the season gathering is always fun. I can donate some time to help if needed. John
  6. Mower and crew is in. Let us know the details. John
  7. If you are referencing the additional blow back there is not much you can do about it just try to compensate with your depth finder and track your weights. One thing I have noticed is my rigger spring must slip alittle on retreval because I am constantly re-zeroing my counter. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. Sunday 8-16. We didn't get on the water till 7. We found nothing but weeds on the east side above myers. Moved over to the west side and found fish. Between 7 and 1 we boater 21 lakers and 4 landlocks. We found fish rocky dock area and north. We kept our diggers parked at 60 and 70. Our dipseys were shallower at 195 & 215. Down speed was 2.1. Everything came on green - spoons green with white cups and green s/d with green fly. We had alot of fun our biggest laker was 11.5 and our biggest LL was 6.9. Everything was good sized. Lost one big fish on our only cheater fish. This fished pulled drag then parked then pulled drag again and broke off. Cheater was wrapped up in the split ring of the bottom spoon. Fishing like this makes it tough to work mon through fri. Mower out. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. Great weekend for fishing if you like Lakers. We fished sat from 7 am to noon did about 12 lakers 3 on riggers, 4 dipsey and 5 on 500 copper. Every was was on either white S/D and white fly or green spoons run clean. One of the rigger fish was a 5lb LL on a pink glow 2 1/2 spoon. Sunday was non-stop. We were out from 6:30 till 11:00 AM then the rain scared us off. We boated over 30 lakers our biggest one was 11lbs 14 oz we did all but 3 fish on dipseys set back 215 to 270. Again white crush glow spin doctors and green/ big weenie flies. The S/D were anything w/ majority being white (wonder bread- green dot and crush glow all the same). We had numerous doubles on the dipseys. By 11:00 we were both tired and I was getting frustrated jogging into the wind, reeling in fish and trying to net them. We really should have had more than 2 people on the boat. We had all our action above sheldrake pt in 150 to 200 ft of water. We'll be back out next weekend hopefully to find some silver fish and not just lakers. Mower
  10. I am running a depth raider unit on my boat and as of the last 3 trips out, I am noticing that the speed wheel is hanging up as I lower it? If I raise it give it a spin with my finger it works fine till I raise it again? Is there a lubricant I can use on it or is it possible I something stuck on the shaft? Fleas? Anybody else experiencing this problem. Note once it is spinning in the water it appears to be accurate based on my gps speed. Or at least very close depending on wind and current. Mower
  11. Ray, I am interested in the 12 pounders as well. Drop me an e-mail to [email protected] when you've got them figured out? mower
  12. Scott, where are the weigh in stations for this Tournament? I did not see anything on the website? Really want to avoid running to Seneca Marine if that is the only place? Thanks Mower
  13. Great fish, I look at that while working and wonder what if I took a day off to hunt for a monster like that. Mower
  14. Just wanted to say it was nice meeting some of you this past Sat. We have been putting a ton of time on the lake w/ my nephew Tyler lately. He fished the Red Cross with Cheryl and I and now the LOU-ALL. Both Tournaments he won prizes. I think I have him hooked on fishing now. Unfortunately he is in route to cape cod to join his family at my brothers new coats guard duty station. I have already been asked if I can meet them 1/2 way for Barney's Tournament. Cheryl and I decided that we would let Tyler reel in every fish while he was here and yes we did drop some big (probably money) fish but it was worth it. I appreciate all our fellow anglers supporting our youth. Thanks again to everybody for there support and especially Splitshot for taking the time to organize a great event. And please check out Dave's Spoons from R&R. www.mytacklebox.com. As I;m sure many of you realize he donated over 100 spoons to the red cross and another 3 dozen to the LOU-ALL. His spoons hold up like no other. He has patterns from the 80's I still fish religiously. Dave has tons of inventory not on his website as well as some new patterns out and more to come. Drop him an e-mail and I know you won't be disappointed. He will do some custom painting for people as well in a reasonable quantity. Just keep in mind he in a one man operation and often it is first come first serve. Support our local businesses and put some fish in the boat. Mower
  15. Andy, When things are slow I have experimented and found running a small dodger, 4 inch size or so w/ a small 2 5/8 spoons 3 to 4 ft behind the dodger works well for bows and LL. in fact it is not a go to set up but seems to come more often than not when I'm targeting fish higher up in the water column. I like running wire and dipseys but don't get as excited when only targeting lakers w/ them. I will run them as shallow as 20 to 30 feet early in the season w/ mini divers as well when the planer bite dies off and the sun comes up.
  16. I'll be out on Cayuga out of Finger Lakes Marina
  17. To add another question to the mix? If you have an young angler say 12 to 15 who does not need a license yet can he fish rods when trolling?
  18. I will be out Sat and Sun 5am till noon out of Myers. Heading north up the west side. You can catch me on 68 Mower
  19. Mower is in for the Tourny. Let me know what I can do to help. SS give me a call on a proposed head count or a quantity you'd like for this one and the Red Cross. I am want to make sure Dave has both covered as promised. Mower
  20. Diawa Heartland rod, best bang or the buck, I have been running wire, copper and lead core on these for 2 seasons. No complaints
  21. Selling my 4 Hp mercury 4-stroke kicker. It is a 2002 long shaft. Had it on my 23 footer last year and it ran flawlessly. I had it professionally tuned last year at the beginning of the season just as "piece of mind" so I wouldn't be trolling w/ my 8 cyl i/o. This unit came off a sailboat that I watched in the slip at the marina. I never saw the sailboat move more than a couple of times a season, so the hours are extremely low. This motor always performed for me, I ran it off my main tank w/ 16 feet of fuel line and no problems. Reason for sale is I'm upgrading to a bigger unit that I can run controls at the helm. Feel free to contact me here or via e-mail [email protected] I can send pictures upon request. Asking $1200.00 OBO
  22. Interested in your spoons. Contact me [email protected]
  23. Two of the spoons 3rd one from the left in both top and bottom rows are old R&R spoons I believe they are in alewife series. I fish them often on sliders off the riggers and do good w/ them. My best color is pink and white w/ a glow back. Mower
  24. Let me know if you need anything. We'll be there hopefully w/ a little more to show for our efforts. Also I have some connections here in Binghamton on food/Beverage. I work for food w/ one of my customers who owns a market, just let me know what you need and I'll pass the request along. As it stands now, I am too far in the hole w/ this guy and just don't have the freezer space or the army of eaters to square up w/ him. I also think a dish to pass is a good option to as to the spread. Mower
  25. What is the price in American for these suits? All I see is the euro price?
