I think this is the last piece of the puzzle, I just purchased a big jon dual elec. motor planer mast. I will have it wired up as soon as deer season ends. But my question is what boards do you guys prefer and what releases are you running. I will run these boards shallow w/ stick baits in the spring then I'd like to try running core off them in the summer as another presentation type. Any thoughts would be great.

we found surface temps from 59.5 to 61. the fishing was poor, we did no keeper fish. our focus was salmon/bows and browns. we ran nothing shallower than 45 ft down on riggers/wire/lead core 10/8 colors. we did tons of dinks all on spoons and stickbaits. could not get a fish in the legal class from boyscout camp to southern end. too many weeds on the east side to troll.

interested in selling the outboard separately? if so drop me a line

we fished sat and sun. did ok but not worth reporting. we fished west side and east side myers souh to 150 ledge and the west side taughanock south. found fish in front of taughanock and by girl scout camp. we ended up making several passes shallow 45 to 75 feet of water everything down 40 or less. did 10 or so nice salmon/bows and tons of dinks. it was not uncommon to get two fish on one rigger rod w/ cheaters but they were always dinks. we did all of our good fish on chrome/black spoons or stickbaits. surface temp was around 60 and that temp held down to 85 plus to get to 54/56 degrees. we need the surface temp to drop about 4 degrees to really get theplaner board action going. i'm pulling my boat in two weeks- marine wants it out by the 20th so I'll b looking for rides or fishing from my 14 alumacraft. mower

Fished in the rain both days, Headed out Sat about 10 AM. We did great in front of Myers for about 3 hours in 100 to 150 feet of water everything we had out dipseys, out 150, downriggers down 45 to 55 and 10 colors had action on it. Mountain dew SD w/ Pearl glow fly, black/silver spoons, rosemary's baby from Michigan stinger was or hot one. If I had 7 I would have ran them on all lines. By 2:00pm everything shut down and the sun came out. Tons of Flea's and floating weeds. We did 3 keeper salmon two browns 8.8 and 9.6, and probably 10 ten lakers and of coarse two many dinks to count. Sunday we started off at 6:30 and did ok till about 9:30. 1 brown 9.8, 3 rainbows over 4lbs and 1 salmon 6.7. Lakers were all small. At least 12 dinks. We trolled slow into the wind and kept our lures 56 degrees and warmer. Riggers were 65 to 35. I decided to fish the marks on the screen, too many fish above that 54 to 56 degrees We did quite a few fish on a silver/black jr thundesticks. Green on Green SD Fly and Black/Copper spoons. We had good fishing Myers Pt area, Taughannock Pt and 1 mile north. We saw much less bait and fish up towards AES. Hopefully we can get a few days of good wind and get all the floating weeds on shore. We did alot of clearing lines due to weeds and not clumps just grass everywhere.

Andy, I bought 2 - 12lbs and love them. The blow back is much less even on depth raider side for me. I will probably never run a cannon ball again unless I contribute one to the bottom on cayuga. I can say that they have improved my catch but mainly because my counter on down riggers is closer to true running depth.

Chowder T-cline was ranged anywhere from 58 to 74 feet down. Really fluctuated in front of Taughannock. I stayed in the back and kept moving the riggers up and down to keep the presentation in it. My average depth was probably 63 to 67. I'll be back up Fri eve, sat and sun. PM me and I'll give you my cell maybe we can catch up? or 68 on the VHF Mower is the handle.

Fished long and hard both days. Saturday stayed on the west side did ok but not great. Average fish across the board. 3 Salmon 21 to 23 inches, handfull of lakers all small, 3 browns over 4 lbs and a few dinks. Everything was caught in less than 150 of water. Could not get a deep water pattern to come together. Downriggers down 50 to 70 w/ cheaters and dipseys from 180 to 270. I really fished the temps. Taughannock has good bait in front of it. Sunday hit the east side w/ much more success. Fished the Lansing Station area to AES. Kept the riggers in 54 to 56 degree water over 200 to 300 and the fish came. 5 salmon over 5lbs, 2 Browns - one 9lbs, 10 lakers and at least 8 or 9 dinks all before 11:30 AM. The downriggers brought the majority of the fish, action was mostly at the ball, everything on the cheaters was small. Spoons yellow and orange w/ silver back and pink/white w/ white back. Dispeys took a few lakers 245 to 265 out. Most of our hits came on a speed up technique. Maintained 1.6 at the ball then bumped it to 2 or 2.1 and the riggers fired. maitained 1.6 or the 2 to 2.5 and nothing. We stumbled on a great pattern by luck. Another troller was going to squeeze us shallow and the speed bump did the trick. Mower.

I have seen a few guys keeping there coolers for fish either on a swim platform or a hand made bracket above the outdrive on an I/O. Does anybody know if there is a manufacture for a rack that would mount the transom and have the cooler sit above the outdrive? I am hoping this will not turn into a custom fab job to get the cooler out from under foot on my boat. Mower

I have an opportunity to pick up a completely rigged 2006 23 foot trophy and the price is a steal to put it bluntly. I am only asking about the boat itself, I have all the accessories covered. You input is appreciated. Mower

I put a 5 HP Mercury 4stroke on the back of my 21 foot cuddy and have worked most of the bugs out except for this one problem. After realizing that the 1/2 gallon tank on the unit was only good for 45 mins and not having ample storage for a 3 or 5 gallon portable tank below deck or in a compartment. I tapped into the boats fuel line that runs my i/o. I put a 3 way valve in w/ and a primer bulb and love the idea of just turning a switch and firing up the kicker for hours of trolling. What I am finding in the kicker motor can not keep the fuel lined primed, after 15 mins the engine starts idling down due to lack of fuel. I can quickly prime the bulb and runs fine for 15 mins again. I am assuming the problem lies w/ the valve at the gas tank and it can not pull hard enough to keep that spring loaded ball out so the fuel will run freely. Before I tear into this is there an adjustment to that valve spring so I can pull fuel easier? Any suggestions or other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to offer my two cents, we had a great time meeting so many people we only knew by name before. I'd like to volunteer to help in any way next year. We did get a late start due to the weather, unfortunately my girlfriend loves to fish and is learning quickly the ins and outs of trolling but the weather made her alittle nervous. I figured better a late start than to sour her taste on fishing. Lastly I'm on the lake more often than not on the weekends, catch me on the radio and we'll swap info if you like. Hope to see you all on the lake. Mower AKA John

I fished lake ontario last weekend and one of the rigs used was a set of cowbells and a spin and glow w/ no wings on it. I called them peanut rigs from years ago. Does anybody know what I am talking about and if so where can i find them? I have a couple that were hand tied, I purchased them at a bait shop inbetween Candor and Danby. be he has been closed for years. My only reason for inquiring is we caught some large lake trout on them and i would like to attempt them on cayuga. Any help is appreciated. John AkA Mower

Mercury 9.9 hp four stroke motor. Motor is a 2001 model short shaft. I purchased this motor used in 2002 and had it on a duck boat. It was used less than 5 hours a year. The motor was professionally winterized every season and this spring it had a complete tune up just to be on the safe side. Not needed but was for peace of mind. I always kept the unit inside a heated garage over winter months. This is a great unit and my only reason for selling it is i want a long shaft that can fit as a kicker for my 23 foot boat. I ran it on the lake this past weekend to ensure everything was fine. (Water puddle under lower unit in picture). This motor started w/ no more than two pulls every time. It includes the plastic 5 gallon can to hook up to the motor. Any questions will be answered quickly. Asking $950 [/img]

I have a 23 foot Larson cuddy w/ walk around. I am wondering if a 5 hp Mercury 4 stroke will do it justice for trolling. I am getting a package deal w/ Mercury 2004 w/ less than 20 hours. motor bracket and steering linkage along w/ install for $1000. I am only using it on Cayuga Lake so bucking big lake wind and waves really doesn't come into play. Your input is greatly appreciated. John AKA Mower

I've decided to run a lead core set up down the chute this year. I run wire on 2 and two rods on the riggers w/ sliders and now it 's time for a new challenge. I'm looking for advise on the # of colors I should spool up along w/ the backing? I normally all season from 1 week in april till the marina owner says get your boat out. Could you please help me out? John

On an older boat I had to used the cleats to attach the trolling bar. I cut a notch out of the 2x8 to slide over the cleat then used U-Bolts through the center of the cleat and up through the 2x8. Never had a problem- never drilled a hole in the boat.

I register all my trailers for work and personal in Maine. I can register them for 5 years for what it costs in NY for 1 Year. And the added bonus is no need for yearly inspections. The only catch is "technically" if you register your trailer in Maine it is supposed to be used 70% of the time for intra-state driving. W/ my 5 work trailers I have been questioned by the State Police before and I told them I do go to PA w/ these trailers and they basically said "if you save money at it and your legal, OK". If you do a search for "Staab agency" you'll get the agency that does these Maine Registrations. The form is on the website. Fax it to them and you'll have plates in 5 day. Anybody w/ Questions feel free to PM me.

I am a huge fan of stabil. In my business I run it in everything that isn't used every day. I stored plow trucks for 9 months never started it and left it out side no problems. I just purchased a ford f350 that had fuel in it from over two years ago, it sat as part of estate, I put plates on it and drove it 2 1/2 hours home and never skipped a beat. Trust your stabil. At fuel prices in a marina or even at a gas station I would run the boat in your drive and see what happens, I'm willing to bet that fuel is good. if not you have the option of running dry gas, octane booster and mix in some fresh gas. I would not dump $150 to $200 in fuel on a possibility.

Spent Fri Pm Sat- and Sun on Cayuga trolled Myers north to Miliken and Girl Scout Camp to Rocky Dock. We covered alot of water for few fish. We did get two nice landlocks and some small lakers and of coarse the tiny salmon that never trip your releases. But for the time out on the water and our catch rate it was very poor. I was wondering how other guys are doing? I noticed the surface temp changing 4 to 5 degrees between the three days and a ton on loose weed in the lake. Any help would be appreciated. John AKA Mower

Chaos, Fished all three dates, Friday was absolutely stupid on my part, I flew up to the marina after work, loaded up and sat in the slip for the first batch of rain to come through, when that was done, the sun came out and so I headed across to Crow Bar Pt and started north. We fished for 1/2 hour tops and another storm showed up. We had hopes it would miss us and it sure didn't. we sat there huddled under the canopy in an absolute down pour. The dog was the only smart one -she curled up in the cuddy and slept. So friday I was skunked. Saturday we marked fish alot around Cedar Cove and in front of Myers Pt, but our cooler was empty and we only released tiny fish. We even caught 2 lakers that were 14 inch range. This was our morning from 6:30 till noon. Sunday we tried the west shore and did poorly we managed I small rainbow, two small salmon and a laker (released). That was 7am to 11:30 am. Both days we tried everything spoons, flies, stick baits. All our fish on Sun. came on 1 spoon it was 1.5 inch long smooth silver w. a blue diamond tape on one side. I don't know what possessed me to run it but at least it gave me a chance to use my new needle nose pliers. I am on pair four for the season. I'm going to keep at it for a few more weeks till the Marina tells me I must pull my boat. John Aka Mower

I've hit Cayuga hard the two weekends, I really don't have too much info to offer other than we fished Myers north to Cedar Cove or the end of lansing Station and did ok but couldn't put a real productive pattern together. we fished down from 70 to 110 on the riggers and 140 to 210 out on wire and we caught fish in 90 to 250 ft of water. Too many to count small salmon, 2 nice browns 7lbs range and the lakers we caught ranged 24 to 29 inches. We did well on lakers in front of Myers- tons of bait around 100 feet. I'll be out Fri eve, Sat and Sun. I thinking running North to fish Miliken and Sheldrake and see what happens. John
