I wonder where they got that design. A friend of mine who fishes out of Henderson used to make them exactly like that back in the mid 90's or so. I still have some that he gave me. I also have a cast-aluminum set that used to be available but I haven't seen them available anywhere lately. I don't fish without my wingers. If someone wants to try out a set and doesn't want to spend the $ for a new set, I have a set of weighted plastic ones that I used to use before my friend gave me the aluminum ones. I'd sell the set for $25 including USPS priority shipping to the US side of the Lake Ontario area. Here's a picture of them:

It mounts to your steering wheel. If your kicker is connected to your main engine it will steer it. If I remember correctly, the contender is an IO. You have to have the connector that connects your outdrive to your kicker.

I'd say until you get more experience, I'd run two riggers and two divers. To start with, I'd run a flasher fly on one rigger and a spoon on the other. I'd probably put a slider on the rigger rod that is pulling the spoon. I don't like to slide lures over my flashers. Too much mess for me. On the divers, I'd also run one flasher fly on one and a spoon on the other to start with. Then adjust to what's hot. However, if you make a change and everything stalls, especially on the riggers, put it back the way it was. I've seen days when my spoons on the riggers were hot, so I took my flasher fly off and everything stopped working. Put the flasher back down and the spoon goes again. Obviously, the flasher was pulling them in to the pattern but then they wanted the action of the spoon.

Yes, they were plenty strong. They were welded all the way around the bottom to that aluminum plate. For a soft top you'd have to do something different because that flat plate would sag too much.

I use wingers on my outside riggers for more spread. I keep my probe on one of the back riggers. I dont want to run the probe and a winger on the same rigger because of the extra stress on the rigger and the extra blow back it would cause. If I didn't use the wingers, that might be different.

Have a welder look at it. He might not want to weld it if it's really close to a riveted seam. If you weld too close to the seam, the sealant that they put in there when they put the boat together will melt out, creating a bigger problem. He might suggest some other way to repair it.

Hard top or soft top? I had a set made for my hard top when I had my Penn Yan. I went to my electrical supplier, got a ten foot length of 1.5" aluminum conduit, cut it up in ten pieces (for a ten rod rack) with an angle on one end of each piece so that they would tip back towards the stern. Then I took those pieces to a friend who did aluminum welding. He got me a piece of flat aluminum bar like 3 inches wide by the width of my hard top. He welded all ten pipes on that flat bar and I bolted it to the boat. It cost me way less than buying one. Just have to drill a small hole through the weld at the base of each pipe so the rain can drain out. Honest, of all my pictures, this is the one that shows the rocket launcher the best. I wasn't trying to show off the salmon my client caught.

I've had a couple PM's about the fish finder returning weak signals in deeper water so I wanted to clarify that. I don't want anyone thinking this is going to show them fish in deep water. It's been a couple years since I used it but it seems like it didn't do much over 75 or 100 feet as far as showing bottom and I'm sure it didn't show fish on bottom in those depths. If you're just looking for something to show you bottom in shallow water then it should work for that but the main reason I put it on here was for use as a GPS/plotter which is what I used it for until I got a new color unit. Just wanted to make sure interested parties don't get misled.

King Marine model 7001 VHF radio. Has programable channels (ch 30 - 59). Also has scan. The speaker is scratchy and needs to be replaced or just clip the wire to it and plug in an external speaker. There is a plug on the radio for an external speaker. One tab on the base is missing (in picture) but the base works ok if mounted on a horizontal surface. Needs a new power cord or just wire in your own cord. There's a pin diagram in the manual for the power cord. $20

Lowrance LCX-15MT Sonar/GPS combo with 7" diagonal screen. Dual frequency unit but has 200khz transom mount transducer with temperature. Requires dual frequency transducer for dual freq operation. Has external GPS puck, optional paddle wheel speed senser with 2nd temp sensor. Has Map Create series 5 CD's for East and West United States and 2 MMC cards with MMC card interface for your computer. Uses some of the older Navionics depth carts. Also have optional cig lighter power cord along with the regular power cord. Everything is included that came with the unit when it was new except for the dual freq transducer. The fishfinder works in medium to shallow water but returns a weak signal in deep water. This was on a boat that I bought. I never used it because I installed an auto pilot. I just connected it to my battery to make sure it works and it works fine. All the cables are in good shape including the power cables with inline fuse and ring lugs. All the parts are there. Bought these wingers back in the early 90's. Found them in an old box of fishing stuff. They are used to spread your downrigger weights to eliminate tangles and spread your trolling pattern to help with spooky fish. Sell the set for $20 plus shipping.

Michigan 15.25x15 aluminum propeller model 031023 used. Fits Mercruiser Alpha and Bravo One stern drives and the bigger Mercury and Mariner outboards. This prop slipped on me a couple times only when the boat had been out of the water for a long time. Prop shop told me they could fix it but I just used it for a spare. Billy, Looking at the picture they look kind of tail heavy. How do they run in the water? Does that tail hang lower than the rest of the ball and if so, does it affect how they run? I'm looking at moving to weights that are heavier than the ones I'm using now. I want to make sure I don't end up with something that I won't use.

I had Cannon mag 10's for years. Most people seem to have good luck with them but it I had a lot of trouble with the short stop circuit boards. I switched to scottys and I really like them. In my opinion, you want the 5 foot booms on the side also to give you more spread between your side and back riggers. My boat has an 8 foot beam. I run my back riggers angled so that the pulleys are about in line with the gunnels. That gives me 8 foot between the center riggers. I run wingers on my side riggers. I have the Depth Raider for down temp and speed and like it a lot. I run 10 to 13 pound weights. I haven't tried the bigger ones although I have been considering trying some 15's. As for the positive ion control, Cannon is the only one I know of that offers this. Hopefully if someone knows of another brand they will correct me. I had it on my mag 10's but it wasn't adjustable on mine. I have no idea if is really catches more fish or just more fishermen. How do you prove something like that? You can also add the Black Box from Cabelas for a little over $100 if I remember correctly. I've considered adding one but I wish I had more info on whether or not it realy works.

Silver/blue cowbells with blue/silver/red lip flatfish about 30 inches behind the bells 10 feet off the ball. I use a stacker release a couple feet above the ball and run the ball a foot or two off bottom. Also for big lakers, its hard to beat a silver dodger with a black glow sqid right down near bottom.

I'm glad I got involved in this post. My last two trips out, I started using the tip up feature of my Scottys to rig my "hard to reach" back riggers. It's much easier for me. Takes a little experimenting to get the stop bead in the right place so that the weight is where I want it when I tip up the boom but I love not having to reach out over my side rigger to set the back one.

Yes, some pictures of the tail tell the story for sure. You can see some "V" in the tail. Although it's not a big "V", it's typical of the larger Altantic tail. Definately not the tail of a big brown. And the irregular shaped spots of an Atlantic are very visible in the last photo. Thanks for sharing the rest of the pics
