More and more are using the Navionics app on theire phone or tablets but there is a function that is not use or not known and it is the Community Edit.

Instead of going to a Gold you better off with the new Navionics+ with sonarcharts. With the Nav+ you create you're own customize map.
What model of Lowrance are you running?
The good way to shut down any HDS is to touch the power button then power off on the Menu. Shutting it down holding the power button does the same effect on shutting down you're pc with the power button= No good!

As mentionne you can split you're screen with 50/200 and also raise the the sensitivity until you got some clutters on you're screen. The Lowrance 50/200 is the same quality as the Airmar
With a tablet or a cell you don't have as much capabilities but it will gives you position and trails. You can also share you're trail with other users. The drawback is the visibility under the sun on a tablet or a phone.
