I bought this unit from Cabela's when they had them on sale a few months ago. Definitely slow booting up, and mine loses GPS connection frequently. Only other feature I don't like much is having to go into the waypoints menu to store a way point, as there is no quick create from the buttons. (My LCx-113 has a "WPT" button that you simply push twice)
Started noticing an oil slick behind the boat while trolling. Ran motor on the ears and had that oily film in the run-off, and am thinking I'm getting some oil blow past the rings. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!
Will water migrate up through the risers and into the engine block if the rubber coating on the exhaust flappers is worn off? My 1989 Penn Yan (GM V-6) starts fine on the ears, but really cranks a long time in the water at the launch.
We fished Saturday 8/9 and Sunday 8/10 out of Barcelona. Did six walleye's on Saturday, and three on Sunday. Northeast wind rocked us both days bad. Fish are hanging in there tough, but that east/northeast wind knocks their attitude down a bit. Most boats out of Bluewater Beach CG, crushed 'em earlier in the week, but had same results as we did over the weekend. We stayed right in 75' both days. Heard of schools out deeper as well but didn't leave our fish to find 'em cause they were off the feed out there also.
We got out late Saturday, 8 AM, Went straight out to 150 setup, and trolled to 230 with a blank screen. Fished all day till 5 with little success, pulling all the usual stuff. finally found a school in 150-160 mid afternoon and just kept working them, 1 king, 1 laker, 1 brown. It may be time for me to invest in a down temp/speed probe!
Must be the fish were too busy during the week and needed Saturday off! Fished from 8 - 5 yesterday, 1 small laker, 1 small brown, and 1 juvy king about 9 #. All from 150' - 160' 70 - 90 down. Lots of marks but no takers. Spinny/fly, Spinny/meat, spoons, couldn't get 'em to go...and a fishin' we went!
If you are camping, there is a KOA campground about a mile east of the harbor. We stay at Bluewater Beach campground which is another 2 miles east from there. If you turn left towards Westfield when coming off the thruway, the Holiday motel just down the road on the left. Google any of them for info.
When we were out over the weekend of the 4rth, 3 days, we picked away at them during the morning hours, a hot spurt at mid-day, and a slow pick until it shut off mid afternoon. Never went back out for the late afternoon-evening bite.
Thanks for the shout out bettieanne, and God bless the times you had out with your uncle! The boy's really enjoy that trip, and are getting to be pro's at reading the rods, and setting hooks. A couple more years and they can take the lead at the stern, and give me and my partner a break!
Made it out to Barcelona for our annual July 4th weekend trip and had a blast, both the fishing and the camping was a great time! We usually have a different crew every year, and this year it was me and my fishing partner, a buddy of ours, and two of my nephews. Ended up with a total of 30 walleye's for the 4 trips we made out. We fished 75 to 95 FOW, and caught all our eye's on crawler harnesses, mostly on 4, 6, and 7 color leadcore. Hope you all enjoy the pic's
Has anyone ever ventured off shore towards the Canadian line? I am trying to recall how far out we used to fish, back in the day when we chartered out with Cuda Charters out of Monroe Marina, but I remember some days it was a complete box out with 6 people on board. Mid 1990's, so that may have been a different era population wise.
Looks so much better that we have been able to do back here. Been to Oneida, Henderson, Chaumont, and BRB, and are either getting lazy or taking a Royal ass whooping! Headeded to Barcelona 7/3 - 7/7 for the Holiday weekend, and I believe rightfully due! Two more days and a wake up and it's game on!
Finders Keepers is absolutely correct, the salmon will show up by and by. They are like us.....for reason's that we can not explain, we always show up! I'm headed to Barcelona after Walleye's on this most sacred of American Holiday's! Safe travels, good luck, and tight lines to you all. Have a Happy 4TH everyone!
Just finished the last full week of work before our annual pilgrimage out to Barcelona. Looks like both my nephews will be out with us, so I'm really pumped up about that! Soooo, 3 more days of sweatin' it out next week, and then we'll hit the beach (Bluewater that is) mid day next Thursday. Long and thin or short and fat...Bring 'em on!
