  1. I was told by a previous small engine/boat mechanic and a few different chainsaw places to use 92 or so octane in all small engines. I have had no issues with my motors, except I bought a new Aries snowblower this year and was using 87 in it as that was what I was told by the shop I bought it from (small dealer not the big box store). Well one day snowblowing the engine started racing and dying under load. All signs pointed to bad gas and/or carb issues. Was thinking I am screwed as it was mid Feb when it happened. I drained the tank added some high octane and most of a bottle of Seafoam, ran it for a few minutes, shut it off then let it sit for an hour or two and ran it. It ran fine after that but since then I have only run 92-93 octane in it without issues.
  2. http://www.boats.net/ This is where I've gotten a lot of parts for a 77 Evinrude not sure if it will help.
  3. That's a nice Redhead which probably didn't steal it from a tipup as they generally eat vegetation and mollusks, not saying they might not be looking for an easy meal. I try to pick up all my line I lose and others I find laying around, but many are guilty of loosing fish with a few feet to a couple hundred feet of line still attached to them. I know I am just as guilty, had a salmon (pretty sure it was a nice king and a monster ) that spooled me and took all my 10 color lead core and a good chunk of my backing.
  4. I just bought my 4th boat last October and I don't want to know how much I have invested in it already, probably too much as the wife says, but she never complains when we are catching fish. But to me it's totally worth it, I don't know what else I would spend it on. It also is nice for relaxation (most of the time). With this boat I have invested in things I could move to the next one if I want (like I added tracks for rod holders and downriggers). Plus most of the stuff I buy used and tell the wife I can sell for what I paid for it (not that I would most of the time). If it's worth it to you then it shouldn't matter what you have invested.
  5. Thanks for the info.
  6. Nice job. How was the ice and the drag?
  7. Added releases to original post Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Was a tiller handle extension but sold it and forgot to remove the pic when I updated the post.
  9. I also have a used Humminbird piranha runs on AA batteries. Pm me if interested.
  10. I have a friend that doesn't want to eat any fish from the great lakes, even perch and walleye, but has no issue eating fish from most anywhere else. He likes Silver Lake but never wants to see any studies from it showing the issues the lake has. This is from the DEC waterfowl regulations: HEALTH ADVISORY Mergansers are the most heavily contaminated waterfowl species and should not be eaten. Eat no more than two meals per month of other wild waterfowl; you should skin them and remove all fat before cooking and discard stuffing after cooking. Wood ducks and Canada geese are less contaminated than other wild waterfowl species, and diving ducks are more contaminated than dabbler ducks.
  11. Sold Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Cool, thanks for showing the pics, I might have to build one. Been respooling reels and it's getting to be a pain trying to hold the line.
  13. Not sure where you are located, but Fish307 has a blade exchange sharpening service that has a quick turn around. Also heard Bartel Rd bait and tackle, Red rock store, sharpening shed in cicero. Ice shanty has posts about it as well.
  14. Bluebills aka lesser scaup. Almost over looked the white wing scoters I was looking too far back.
  15. Bump, still available.
  16. Are you on ice shanty.com also might be a better spot to post this. I would have done the same thing, you are trying to find the owner which is a lot more than some people.
  17. I use P-line and Seaguar. They call it vanish since that is what your lure will do when you use it. Had a ton of breakoffs just trying to tie it when I used it for steelhead fishing, when to P-line and no issues.
  18. Boards and metal rod holders are sold Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Bump, any interest make an offer. Probably going to conesus or Honeoye sometime over the weekend as well Sent from my XT907 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. $1500 and located in Attica.
  21. Grouse numbers are down because of loss of habitat, when there is less habitat predators have an easier time hunting. Grouse need early successional areas (ie shrubby) which are few and far between in most areas. Pheasants are down because of loss of nesting habitat and somewhat winter cover. Not knocking farmers but its hard to raise a brood or get a nest hatched when they are cutting alfalfa in May. Before alfalfa, timothy grass was a main hay crop and that matured in June/July which gave the birds time to get a brood raised or mobile. If we manage habitat better we would have more wildlife, but many people want mature woods for the timber value or a nice looking property (mowing too much). If we stop destroying habitat by just mowing a little less we might have more small game. My rant is from having neighbors with acres of property that have to mow all of it just so it "looks nice", they never use it for anything either.
  22. I still have this one if interested. http://www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing-hunting/topic/47580-2011-mercury-99-elh-long-shaft/?hl=mercury
