  1. I hunted Darien Lake St Pk .....probably for the last time. Second year in a row I got peppered. Three guys with no dogs walking thru soybeans shooting at moving plants. Got two birds but had to work at it as high winds the night before and the lack of cover due to poor timing of grass cutting, put them in hedgerows. Went around Alabama today knowing it was opening of duck season and had the fields to myself. Proud papa as my rescue project dog flushed my bird, tracked where it fell then pinned the dead bird til I walked over. Not bad for a ratterrierpitbullpointerthingofamabob.
  2. Were you offshore near the elbow in the fence?
  3. Clearly, you must roll around in the creek before each hunt going forward. Congrats on the successful hunt!
  4. If it’s tail flicker he is dead. If it is a flagging tail....wait.
  5. PM Capt. Vince on this site. He just pulled his boat recently. Weather will be a challenge. The game this time of year would include limited fish around the pierheads, deep fish near bottom 1/3 of column in 200-250’, and fishing offshore.
  6. Other than a carbon monoxide detector, the only thing you are missing is a buck pole. Coming along nicely.
  7. I can’t find a doe target that doesn’t have yearlings with her. Apparently a productive spawning season last year.
  8. Post some pics if you want to move product.
  9. Nice. Well placed arrow.
  10. Warming trend today- deer activity lowers. Sunday looks like the day.
  11. You will need to pick a broadhead brand that fit the smaller diameter with the fmj.
  12. 500 grain Easton Axis arrow with a Slick Trick 100 grain 4 blade for me. I don't like gimmicks or complicated moving parts.
  13. Look up on YouTube on how to call raccoons. Really cool.
  14. I recognize the bride from my rival high school. I believe her nickname in school was "the rake".
  15. Freshly made Saturday with cold snap. I saw soft chasing with a young buck also
  16. Do you ever eat fish Lucky? Might I recommend you take your foot out of your mouth before you try!
  17. Deer very active tonight
  18. Lots of deer out in fields this morning. First sit of year. Looking for a doe to slip up. Youth pheasant going in around me so hopefully bumped deer head my way.
  19. Okay leaving thread now as not to cause anymore nausea lol.
  20. I think it would be quite conceivable that a computer program could be developed to pair with sonar and in real time measure the amount of bait showing vs the total space on the screen. We have technology now in our over-the-counter fish finder that allows us to map out the bathymetry of the bottom contours as we pass overhead. It would prove much cheaper and safer than trawler hauling.
  21. Trawl data is the best we have right now but it is far from perfect as stated. In the end the trawler is fishing for alewives. Numerous times when I was on the Kaho I noticed large amounts of bait showing on the graph and very few got picked up with the tow. You still have to catch them in order to count them.
  22. The trawling survey results showing the representative year classes needs to not be viewed as gospel. Due to costs and man power, approximately 1,0000 fish are aged per the estimated 1.5 Billion alewives that are in the lake. The survey will never be perfect. We definitely gather more info than other states. Michigan does just a few locations in the fall.
  23. Love the Cayuga reports. I will be bringing my rig down there next year for a week so any reports are helpful.
  24. I would look how they fish the Columbia River
