  1. Here is why your fish are skinny.
  2. ....and coyotes eat the ass and intestines of their prey first.
  3. Beautiful day to be out for a little workout. Birds were not where they were “supposed to be”. After tramping around all the thick narley stuff ... nota. Checked s few pine stands....nota. Gun slung over shoulder at end of hunt in open beech hardwoods two flushes with nothing to show for it. Dogs are pooped.
  4. During the summer months you have to keep an eye out for Canadian yacht owners that are making the run from Wilson to Toronto. I have had a few close calls with these elderly gentlemen setting the autopilot and then going down below.
  5. If I needed one flasher it would be double crush glow on a chrome blank. How many worm harness blade colors do you own?
  6. Just their own personal experiences they are going by. Others may swear by completely different flashers in the same scenarios. There is no right or wrong answer. I the world of trolling it is about reproducibility. If you are catching fish on a certain flasher on a certain copper length.......put another out the same way. If you are catch fish 250' on a wire dipsy set-up one day.......the next day put out your dipsy 250'. If you are catching fish on a chrome flasher in the spring......next spring start with a chrome flasher. Go read Russ's blog on his store's website. Every year his flasher selection is different. Don't lose sleep over this. The fun of rigging is figuring the pattern yourself.
  7. Find the outflows of creeks, and ditches.
  8. LOTSA outdid themselves again this year. Every year the event gets better. Including local captains sharing their secrets makes the lectures relevant to our fishery. Captain Fonzi's walleye lecture and Captain Valentine's Perch lectures were awesome. Thanks LOTSA.
  9. If I get a bunch, I breast them. They are good with Louisiana dishes (see zatarans). One or two birds I dry pluck and gut them. Cook in oven with a rub. Don’t over cook. You want it to look like prime rib with blood - will taste like Roast Beef. Over cook and tastes like liver- yuk.
  10. OR-16 red with pin does not slip
  11. They are being restored because they are native, but also to potentially bolster Lake Trout populations. They don't carry the thiaminase problem to natural reproduction that alewives do. Very high in fat/oil content if kings can target them. The 99% of bait in the stomach of Kings is 4-5" alewives. I don't see that changing any time soon on Ontario.
  12. Actually......no.
  13. Cool. I heard they move into Sodus and I-Bays. That is a 4 year old king's fillet mignon.
  14. Check out this accident. I think it was one Jason saw.
  15. Get a reputable marine mechanic that knows how to tune the timing to specs recommended by the manufacturer.
  16. I was thinking maybe the lamprey hole created a secondary infection esp with all the talk of high bacteria count in the areas of concern.
  17. Daredeveles in 5 of diamonds, orange scale, brown trout. Sizes 3/4oz and bigger. Take pliers to get hooks out!
  18. Great day!
  19. Give us a report!
  20. x2 on timing.
  21. Check ignitions coils.
  22. I wish I needed a boat.
  23. That lamprey hole looks suspicious. Usually after the lamprey detaches the wound is all red and angry looking. That lamprey hole looks like the surrounding tissue became necrotic (dead).
