  1. Yes.....everyone should fish Rochester this spring!
  2. If you haven't seen this viral dress and how it can turn your household upside down as one family member sees blue/black and another sees white and gold we may learn the lesson that we don't really know how fish see color. Color may be relative to species and even individuals within a species. http://www.wired.com/2015/02/science-one-agrees-color-dress/
  3. Could be worse....
  4. Modis image shows maybe 30% coverage.....all from Mexico Bay and North. If the Shove ice gets wedged into Mexico Bay it may be a long time before it is fishable this spring.
  5. I made one with a smaller weight with two lighter arms that provide flex for dragging walleyes off the bottom on Erie. They work well. The only hard part is trying to figure out what is bottom bouncing and what is a walleye dragging. I have towed around eight pound walleyes for probably hours as they come up with their eyes bulging mouth open and dead. By going to a 2 to 4 pound weight you can tell you have a fish when the weight stops contacting bottom because a fish is dragging the weight higher.
  6. I am always up for a good adventure but when I consider what you have to do to get out there ..........the Friday fish fry available around Buffalo for around $10.00 sounds more inviting.
  7. Nice haul, I heard it has been tough out there.
  8. Vimeo.com 333 Lake Michigan season 5 has most of the events up and running. After a long day of busting up ice dams on the roof it is the cure for the achy heart for now.
  9. Because those lines catch fish. Being on a rigger under the surface allows you to bring fish in and reset lines right over them without tangles. In the spring the first couple weeks of the season fish are stupid as they haven't seen a lure in awhile and they are HUNGRY so don't worry about total stealth. Drop a spoon back 50'-100' and down 3'-4' on the rigger in say 8' of water and its game on.
  10. Always workin' it Jerry. I suppose I could be handing out my business cards at the Pro/Am events with all the missing chicklets there.
  11. Interesting that the graph shows a spike in ice on Ontario every 15-19 years. I guess we were due. If you draw a line at the peaks it is still a downward trend on ice coverage from 1979.
  12. You will love the 6:1 ratio of a Saltist to eat up the slack after a downrigger release. Spend $200 on one great reel you will keep forever and use in Saltwater when you retire to Florida rather than spend $100 each on two reels that will leave you wishing you had a Saltist.
  13. Huh.....I just ordered 4 packs of #2 that were in stock. Sorry I must have tapped them out. Disregard my first message and maybe check Bass Pro as Cabelas does not carry them.
  14. VMC 4X Spark Point Trebles are on blow-out sale at FishUSA. For the purpose of full disclosure, I am not a representative for FishUSA and no animals were injured bringing you this message.
  15. For July
  16. I think I will set up more 2 colors.

  18. Its funny how certain areas of the lake prefer one type of color or one type of flasher and I think there is actually something to the discrepancies from the West end compared to the East end. For example, fishermen seem to prefer green protroll paddles and flies on the East end of the lake. Conversely, West-enders generally use more Spin Docs and have more of a variety of colors that work. My only take on the differences between the two areas is the water clarity. Come summer the water off Oswego is warm, and loaded with nutrients to an almost yellow/green color. Perhaps the protroll with its Echip clicking allows for the fish to find the bait in the more turbid water of the East end? So when purchasing your paddles, consider what port you are fishing out of.
  19. I believe the finals are today at 2 pm on Outdoor Network. I enjoy watching the stress unfold on these events
  20. Ahhhh Burt Island.........where dreams are made.
