  1. Nice Buck Ray.
  2. My middle rigger has AFW moss green braid. Nice on the hands and reties. During flea season I just run the line thru my fingers as the line is retreived and the fleas fall off. My two outdowns, one with SS and one with coated cable catch 4xs as many fish.....maybe the hum??
  3. My contacts tell me the Browns have run the Niagara (growing run of fish the last two years), so with the browns in spawing mode, you may want to target Kings out 200'-250' FOW. Water temp is the same top to bottom so fish the graph. Put your baits just at and below the bait pods as a starting point.
  4. That is a hoss!!!
  5. Hose down the reels after EVERY outing. If you get a lock-up, it can be often caused by a single grain of sand in the gears. The way I unfreeze a lock-up is to open the guts, clean out the old grease and fill the compartment full of gear oil. Put it together and reel. Usually it frees-up quickly. You will want to have an old towel handy under the reel as the gear oil will drip out. Once the reel is working, clean out the gear oil and lubricate with reel grease. Try it.
  6. Usually happens on Erie. It has been a problem made worse by the ecosystem becoming more benthic (near the bottom) because of the zebra mussel. Usually occurs after a sustained east wind on Erie causes an upwelling bringing the bad bottom stuff up to the upper foodchain. Fish get it.....birds get it, and even huge mudpuppies wash up on shore. If you are worried about waterfowl.....if the bird flew into your spread....it probably is not sick. Make sure the meat is cooked thru and you will be fine eventhough duck tastes better undercooked If I saw waterfowl swimming around, I would not shoot it off the water as you can't determine the fitness of the bird.
  7. Played hookie today. Deer on the move. With the lack of clear moonlit skies and cool temps......bucks have abandoned their noctornal ways for now. Rattling still is working and the amount of rubs and scrapes have exploded.
  8. nice
  9. Call Moor electronics and ask. They are a company located in Buffalo. They usually have a booth at the LOTSA event in Lockport in Feb.
  10. The rut is officially on. My hunting buddy in Wales confirmed deer chasing on his hill last night at dusk .......while sitting in his hot tub
  11. Maybe if you let her hang pink curtains in the cuddy, the Missus will allow you to keep two boats?
  12. I am looking for some vintage ciggarettes with plastic tips?
  13. I think we are ahead. Saw two button bucks without mom. Once mom starts smelling interesting she will not tolerate having junior's nose up her rear and will chase them off. Saw a mature eight pointer on side of 290 near Buffalo sat. morning at 8:30 cruisin' with a swollen neck. I noticed a couple of fence-post-sized rubs on trees when I was bird hunting. Things about to get interesting
  14. You could always become a Bills fan. It will force you to spend more time in the woods to keep your sanity.
  15. From scouting to the final kill shot.......great execution
  16. Earlier is better. Pike opener is a great time to catch them.
  17. Tighten up your spread. Don't run long copper in crowded situations unless you want to lose it. Mag dipsys dive steeper and are less likely to get tangled with another boat as there will be less line out. Adding a thumper 1 lb ball in lieu of copper would be another consideration. Be aware of the Charter Boats running North-South when everyone else in the general vicinity is running East-West........they just don't give a crap because they are probably catching fish on their course.
  18. Hunted Hanging Bog. Counted thirteen cars on 150 yard stretch of road. Birds don't have a chance.
  19. First time Phesant hunting over dogs. My 7 month-old short-hair and my brother's 6 month-old lab had a ball on their first hunt together. One for one on birds. Please no joking around about how large my cock is....
  20. Brian, next time you talk to your contacts at Altmar ask them if there has been any thought about tweaking the run dates for Kings to compensate for the apparent lack of tributary water in September. Since Kings in Alaska run in June and we have a September run.....someone engineered the development of the great lakes fish run later. Perhaps we could alter the run later into the fall when stream conditions and temps are better. Not sure of the process whether they are able to hold eggs viable for any length of time before fertilizing? Maybe pulling eggs from late-run fish only? Catch and release for Kings after October 15th? Just some thoughts.
  21. NO IT IS NOT TRUE!!!
  22. No Its true....its true!
  23. You might as well consider a lift kit for your truck......and throw in a set of truck-nuts while you are at it. A raccoon tail off the antenna is a nice touch.
