  1. Ok, they are NO help at the county office. No credit cards. When I try to down load the application on the pro/am site all I get is spam and a flashing screen. There has to be a better way.
  2. Craaaaap! Why don't they post this stuff on their website! I assume no credit cards?
  3. First timer, be gentle. How do I submit entry fees for the events? Where and what time is the Captain's meeting scheduled for Oswego? Anyone have a phone # for the Oswego marina where I can get a transitional weekend slip? Thanks in advance. Fuzz
  4. Chad, if it is walleyes you are after you can find them on the north part of the lake. Fish the side the waves are hitting (usually the east side)...the wavier the better. Find the hard weed line and anchor with the transom just off the edge, usually 12-17' deep. Fishing gets good around dusk til 11:00 pm. Using a light action spinning rod is a must to detect the light bites. Jig the bait like you are ice fishing. I like a white or glow jig head tipped with a worm. During the day you could scratch a few out in the deep middle of the lake near the two 50' holes while trolling and deep bottom bouncing. You will mark some bait pods out there. Hope this helps.
  5. Looks like the team has come together for Oswego and Sodus . Thanks everyone for all your help! You can cheer on the fellow members of LOU as we compete under the team name NO SPONSOR on my Bayliner named Gill-T Hooker. God help us. I hope worms still work for catching salmon
  6. Update on the soap opera....my primadonna friend backed out "for sure this time" out of Oswego, so still short one crew member for next weekend.
  7. The crew is shaping up for both events...thanks guys. However, still looking for an observer for OSWEGO next weekend.
  8. I will be out at Olcott in the morning around 7:30.
  9. Nice fish!!! ESLO ticket? Will be out saturday at Olcott, will you be heading out?
  10. Ok, I need one more crew, and an observer. You can always count on LOU members in a pinch!
  11. Tim Bromund can back up my statement. I have been running verticle attractor rigs for 4 years ( my own version ). They are on my cables 95% of the time.
  12. I think you can get those tangled leaders when you have shakers hitting the bait and getting off. I thought about using a snubber to prevent it from happening. Anyone have a similar problem when using a snubber?
  13. My usual crew is crapping out of fishing the Oswego, and Sodus events  . I have takin' the time off of work, the kids will be away at the grandparents, my wife will be studying for exams......I can't let a free pass get away.....they don't happen often with a family man. I am looking for two fellow anglers who have experience trolling, who like playing cards and drinking beer. Please PM me if interested.
  14. Just would like to know who will be out there. Shall we say channel #72 ?
  15. Excuse my ignorance for not looking at the current regulations, but is there a trophy season catch and release on Ontario now also?
  16. All this talk about guns, and flares, and ball bearings/sling shots etc. is funny to say in jest, but it is not a viable option. We start that ****, and then the sailboats start arming themselves. Cold war all over again. Flags, education and notices seem like the only legal option. I actually have no hope for sailboats. I started this thread so we can maybe come to a consensus about unwritten rules of the water to keep things from getting ugly among fellow fisherman.......ie 7mm mags!
  17. West Marine has on their on-line store 10X16" blue pennant flags for $12.00.
  18. I am stopping down at West Marine today and see what is available. I am flying mine.....I maybe the only idiot on the lake with a blue flag, but at least anyone who has read the posts on LOU, Spoonpullers, and GLA will know what it is.
  19. Maybe, a multispecies format. Biggest fish King, steelhead, brown, laker, coho gets points with a friendly wager?
  20. There is nothing to adapt to .....bass season does not open until June.
  21. Tim would have to get up pretty early to drag his boat out of the water and put in at the Fort. Of course he could run his gas bill up and make the run from Olcott.......he just won't have enough gas to troll very long.
  22. Bass fishing opening week is not what it used to be since the Gobys. I have a theroy on why. One, less bass because Gobys eat the bass fry....but the ones that grow up and can eat the goby are bigger. Two, they can't leave their beds very far the chase a bait....because of the Gobys. Adam, if you go slowly around the fort you will see white zebra muscle shell beds. Often there will be a big black shape sitting on those beds (bass). When are you heading out for salmon next? I am getting that itch to go back to my stomping grounds.....maybe a little tag team action? Or maybe a friendly Baylinner vs Penn Yan duel.
  23. A flag will not stop all these things from happening.....no way, my only hope is to stop a few of the occurances. If enough people jump on board, who knows how common place the flag system could become. What is the alternative? Do nothing and leave things as they are? Come on put a freaking flag up and see if it helps. Help spread the word to your fellow boaters at the launch, at your meetings, at the lecture circuit (pros are you listening). Word of a good thing spreads quickly among fisherman.....just ask Tom Allen.
