Has anyone had their eyes on the 104 west of Rochester recently? Is it open? Conditions? I am out of town and planning on driving to either Hornell or Rochester tomorrow and shack up somewhere until I get word the roads have been cleared in Buffalo.
Agreed it can’t all be the weather. During the last few decades the system has undergone huge upheaval with invasive species. The lakes are still settling things out. Is it the cold winter or the effect of an invasive shrimp species that negatively affect a year class of alewives?
No breech plug with nitro fire. Yes, I used Hoppes #9 so I guess all good. What mitigates the plastic build up? I couldn’t find a .50 wire brush anywhere
I am new to muzzleloading so looking to learn. I am wondering what people use to clean their Muzzleloader barrels? I have heard Dawn soap and hot water but Traditions states that soap and water is not enough. So which solvent (I use nitro firesticks) do I use? Which cleaning brush? What removes sabot plastic residue?
Perhaps the fish are there after all. I heard it through the grapevine that the fish cleaners servicing the Oswego River fishermen have seen a huge push of kings and there have been reports of some fairly fresh kings being caught in the Salmon River. Perhaps they are evolving to a warmer environment and running later after everyone’s boats are put away? I have been asking about Canadian runs and they start in August but are over in October. They have cooler stream temps on the North shore compared to the Oswego River. Can anyone verify these “reports” or is it old news?
